My friend lent me the book and I thought I wouldn't really like it as much as she does. But when I started it I couldn't put
the book down. It was a struggle to put it down. It was probably the best book I've ever read. I recommend it to everyone

For Christians Who Are Seriously Dating Or Would Like To Be by Elreta Dodds (an ordained minister certified in Advanced Church
Ministries and a Certified Social Worker) is a thought-provoking book of questions that every faithful Christian should ask
himself or herself before becoming engaged. A frank, no-nonsense discussion of core issues, with numerous blank lines after
probing questions that the reader can use to fill in his or her own responses, For Christians Who Are Seriously Dating covers
matters concerning religion, lifestyle, the "ex" factor (former marriages or relationships on both sides), family and friends,
children, issues of domestic violence, and more. For Christians Who Are Seriously Dating Or Would Like To Be is a superbly
presented work and very highly recommended for its patient, non-judgmental manner of prompting the reader to think about serious
issues before making the lifelong commitment of marriage.

I thought this book was great. I found it while I was looking for information on doing a project for school. It has signs
to look for if you think you're in an abusive relationship, and stories about girls that have gone through this situation.
There is also a story from a mother's view. I thought it was a wonderful book. I think anyone that thinks they might be
in this situation should read this book.

This book is a great resource for those looking for factual information regarding love and sex and Biblical viewpoints on
both. It is informative and quotes specific Scriptures relating to human sexuality. It is a welcome respite from the so-called
sex information found in the media and our culture, in general. A great resource for anyone looking for Biblical truth regarding
sex and relationships.

I am a high school teacher and have incorporated this material into my curriculum (human sexuality). I don't use all of it,
but much of it. It really sparks discussion amongst the students, and once the unit is complete, many tell me how much they
appreciated the information. So many students relate to the topic, and they frequently discover that they have been victims
of sexual grooming and just didn't realize it at the time. The information is also applicable to friendships and identifying
healthy relationships. The information on setting boundaries is great. I also share this information with parents in my
"parents of teens" class, and it has been well received.

This simple yet clear book was fascinating to read. It breaks down brilliantly the boundary issues we all face on a daily
basis. His explanations and situations bring to life the differences between emotional, physical and verbal abuse. I didn't
think it applied to me because of the subtitle yet I found it went way beyond that giving clarity about the subtle simple
ways we over step our boundaries daily. Read it...

Five million teens were reported abused in the year 2000; an estimated 1,200 died from some form of abuse or neglect. These
horrifically high numbers indicate this is a self-help book for all teens to use as a guide to get safe, or how to help someone
they know get out of an abusive situation, be it sexual, physical, emotional, or plain neglect.
Psychologist and counselor Deanna Pledge clearly defines each type of abuse, including abuse by peers, and follows up with a question and answer section. The next third of the book is about taking action, how and when to tell, who to turn to, and what to expect, while the final chapters focus on healing.
Sensitive topics are handled with delicacy. The language is carefully technical, to be as non-threatening as possible. Statistics combine with personal remarks from teens who have been there to show readers that they are not alone. Writing exercises at the end of each chapter offer outlets for emotion, while affirmations promote well-being.
Above all, Pledge stresses that abuse can happen to anyone, no one deserves to have it happen to him or her, and if it does happen you are not at fault. It is a hopeful book too, in spite of its intense subject matter. Many teens got out of abusive situation, and so can other readers. This book is an excellent start to the healing process and is a valuable resource that should be made available in all secondary school and public libraries.

Dreamland is about Caitlin. Caitlin feels like she is stuck under her sister's shadow, who her mother saw as perfect and was
involved in all aspects of her life. Caitlin's sister recently ran away to New York to be with the guy she loved rather then
go to college which took a toll on everyone in the family. But one night at a party she recognizes a guy that she saw at a
gas station earlier that night. She goes outside with him and learns that his name is Rogerson, they soon become inseparable.
He shows her a life of drugs and rebellion, leaving her sister's shadow behind. They become so attached that she starts going
on his deals with him and even witnesses him being abused by his dad. But with this new life she looses touch with her friends,
family, and school. Caitlin drifts into a "dreamland". Then Rogerson who she loves starts abusing her, but she keeps blaming
herself and saying it's not a big deal. This novel is about how she brakes free from him and gets back to her friends and
family, including her sister. Rogerson is an interesting character who I wish we could have learned more about. Dreamland
is an easy read, only being two hundred and fifty six pages. Sarah Dessen wrote about an issue that really happens in life
even though you might not expect it. This book is definitely for teenage girls, they could probably relate to Caitlin in some
way. Sarah Dessen is a good writer of young adult books, especially is you are looking for an easy read that you can't put
down. Even though I liked this book and I couldn't put it down, in the end I wish there was more. I think Dessen could have
gone deeper.

This book was difficult for me to keep reading at first. It seemed a bit boring, but I kept reading, knowing that anything
by Sarah Dessen coudln't be that bad. It took me a few weeks to get past the slow part, but once I did, I couldn't put it
down. Her struggle and pain are an emotional rollercoaster as you follow the main character through the problems. It was a
touching story and highly recommended for everyone who enjoys this genre of writing, especially any fans of Sarah Dessen!
This is certainly my favorite of her books

This book was fantastic, I only wish there might've been a part two. It was like fantasy mixed with reality...sort of. It
throws reality in your face. It takes a real look into an abusive relationship so don't be suprised if you find it a little
depressing. I admit it starts off a little slow but in the end it's worth it. Kudos!! Read this you won't regret it.

A difficult topic, a difficult read! Nick is not a likable protagonist and his abuse of Caitlin is hard to take. Her acceptance
of the blame for provoking Nick's anger may be realistic, but it is still very unsettling.
The thought-provoking nature of both Nick's behavior and Caitlin's response to Nick's behavior make it a powerful read for young women as well as young men.

This novel is an amazing story of an abusive relationship between two teens. What really sets it apart is it's in the perspective
of the guy and not the girl, which really makes you see that there are two sides to every story

Nick's life seems to be perfect. He drives everyone's dream car and his father is rich. But that's not really how it is. Nick's
father is abusive, both mentally and physically, and so is Nick. Like father like son, right? Except that unlike when Nick's
father hits him, Nick's girlfriend doesn't let Nick get away with hurting her. When he goes to far one day, he loses not only
Caitlin, but his friends and the life he came to know.
Breathing Underwater starts out with Nick in the courtroom, denying that he ever put a hand on Caitlin, and being ordered to keep a journal, at least 500 words a week, and attending anger managment classes. As Nick's story comes out, both in the anger classes and through his journal, I begin to loathe him, but also understand him.
Breathing Underwater is a brilliant story of a misunderstood but violent teen boy, who learns that sometimes, when you screw up, you just have to let go and move on.

I think that this was a really great book. First of all I thought Nick as character was very interesting considering how he
thought and what he said. Also I liked how they potrayed Caitlin and how I pictured her. The whole book I sort of felt for
the characters and that is what I liked about this book so much. For example, Nick's dad wasn't exactely the best father with
how he dealt with everything and being Nick's only parent. Then there was Caitlin who had a mom that called her fat and had
an abusive boyfriend. I guess that is what made this such a great book. In the end I gave this book 4 stars for one reason
and that was because I personally just didn't like how the book ended.
