This book illustrates what the doctors and nurses should know.Review Date: 2007-11-29
Yes, unfortunately these Satanically inspired so called places know as "Pain Management Clinics" need to read this book and get their head out of their a**! Unfortunately I have been a victim of malfeasance and fraud .... people in pain need drugs! $5,000 for $15.00 worth of cortisone shots is outrageous.
This book illustrates what the doctors and nurses should know:
Understanding Pain
Assessing Pain
Pharmacologic pain management
Nonpharmacologic pain management
Acute pain
Chronic nonmalignant pain
Cancer Pain
HIV-AIDS pain
Pain in pediatric patients
Pain in elderly patients
Addictive Disease
Lifestyle Management
Why do doctors not care enough to prescribe the proper pain medications in order to give their chronic pain patients sufficient relief?
Why do the doctors (and nurses) show no care or understanding for people in extreme chronic pain! I do not understand this war on chronic pain sufferers and why is the government constantly trying to curb proper treatment in order to help people in pain live a good a life as someone who does not have to deal with this constant fight to maintain relief of pain in order to enjoy life like them!
We did not ask to be in this so called pain club but we must deal with it or commit suicide. Because living life with pain and constantly fighting society to allow us to enjoy life makes you think what choice do I have any more! What did we do to deserve such treatment that the government will not allow us (chronic pain sufferers) to enjoy life like them and the doctors are going right along with it! Nobody seems to have enough courage or back bone to stand up for us! Why do we have to fight all the time to enjoy life without being accused of being criminals, drug addicts, drug seekers and what ever else they want to call us!
... Read this book, learn what the "professionals" should know; and do what YOU have to do to get relief.
Is not the part of The Hippocratic Oath? - "I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism." ... This means to reduce human suffering!
THE OATH (By Hippocrates ~ written 400 B.C.E.)
I SWEAR by Apollo the physician, and Aesculapius, and Health, and All-heal, and all the gods and goddesses, that, according to my ability and judgment, I will keep this Oath and this stipulation- to reckon him who taught me this Art equally dear to me as my parents, to share my substance with him, and relieve his necessities if required; to look upon his offspring in the same footing as my own brothers, and to teach them this art, if they shall wish to learn it, without fee or stipulation; and that by precept, lecture, and every other mode of instruction, I will impart a knowledge of the Art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to disciples bound by a stipulation and oath according to the law of medicine, but to none others. I will follow that system of regimen which, according to my ability and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous. I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion. With purity and with holiness I will pass my life and practice my Art. I will not cut persons laboring under the stone, but will leave this to be done by men who are practitioners of this work. Into whatever houses I enter, I will go into them for the benefit of the sick, and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption; and, further from the seduction of females or males, of freemen and slaves. Whatever, in connection with my professional practice or not, in connection with it, I see or hear, in the life of men, which ought not to be spoken of abroad, I will not divulge, as reckoning that all such should be kept secret. While I continue to keep this Oath unviolated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art, respected by all men, in all times! But should I trespass and violate this Oath, may the reverse be my lot!
Treat others as you would want to be treated - this is what should be done. God help the cold hearted doctors and nurses whom derive pleasure from other people's pain ... as they chat about what they ate at TGIF's this past weekend!!! May the wrath of the forgotten be with them.

A good resource regarding agricultural emergency response.Review Date: 1998-11-06
There are few good sources of information on this important topic, this is one. While the author ocassionally is tunnel-visioned regarding the problem solving skills possessed by modern rescue personnel, the book is generally precise, modern and well-researched.
Farming accidents are common (agriculture is the most dangerous industry in the country), and almost always present emergency crews with unique challenges. Those challenges can be life-threatening not only for the accident victim, but the rescuers as well. This book presents information that is quite useful in improving patient care and the safety of the responders.
