These procedure cards were wonderful aids for clinical practice. It allowed you to only bring a few cards instead of a few books.It was a real time saver and they were all complete cards.

This is a great, consice review for state boards or day to day practice in nursing procedures.

This is a fantastic book that all OB caregivers should have in their pockets!! It goes beyond the usual text stuff and gets right down to "HOW" to give great care. Foley is a master at making things simple. This is a great book!!

When I asked intensivists to recommend a text prior to commencing my ICU rotation, this was the one they all recommended.

Pros:

- Clear, concise chapters on all important areas of intensive care medicine
- Chapters are logically laid out, and information is easy to find
- Represents as close to standard Australian/NZ/British consensus practice as you'll get in any book in this discipline
- Multiple authors who are experts in their area; again means that you're not just following the practice of one or a few isolated authors
- The balance of underlying pathophysiology discussion, as well as the actual management of conditions is just right for the ICU registrar.
- Each chapter has an excellent list of references, which is great if you need more detail or are preparing for a talk/presentation on a topic
- The book itself is of good paper quality, and won't deteriorate so easily with repeated use

Cons

- Although up to date at the time, the rapidly changing specialty means that you should be cautious with regard to some information being dated already or absent. This of course is a problem common to all medical texts. Perhaps an online updated sister site would be a good idea.
- Interns/Residents would probably benefit from refreshing their basic physiology/pharmacology to get the most out of some topics

I found the book very educational and assisted nurses in the care of the orthopedic patient.

I have to say that this is, bar none, one of the best quick reference books ive ever reviewed. I especially like the addition of the 2 attached ribbons to mark sections you want to quick open to. For CRNAs, SRNAs, Anesthesiologists and residents alike, this is an invaluable resource!

I once asked Dr. Villazon why he had done so much in the field of intensive care and nutrition, even though he was a surgeon?, and he told me "well I had to see for myself what they were doing in there; I have to care for my patients!". Dr villazon was a pioneer in intensive care, a man of international recognition, and of a vast knowledge. I wholeheartedly recomend this texbook as a basic tome for the student; the current knowledge may be different, but the foundations set by Dr. Villazon are still valid.

Excellent for the house super or ED rotation. Small enough for your coat pocket. Problem based, algorithmic approach with adequate text and drug dosages. Definately a great tool for your night as the house super. My first copy was "borrowed" from the ED, i liked it so much i bought another one. One of my "securtiy blanket" books. I always have it with me.
