I read this during my second year of ophthalmology residency and found it to be incredibly useful. It is easy to read with real, hilarious cases to explain the optics. The authors have a great sense of humor. Believe it or not, optics can be funny. I checked it out from our library, but bought my own copy for home because it is so good.

Milton and I, and all the contributors, have written lots of new material for this new 2006 edition:
- 5 new chapters patient selection, contact lens optics, soft contact lenses and the tear film, pediatric contact lenses, colored lenses
- all new CD-ROM, with hundreds of video-clips
- some of the CD-ROM multimedia sections are all-new, never before seen in any textbook! Such as the new "Fit this patient" interactive section in the Gas-Permeable Lens Fluorescein Patterns. Also the Clinical examination techniques, showing clinical use of the slitlamp biomicroscope, keratometer, tearscope, retinoscope, vertometer, radiuscope, and tonometer. The soft lenses and the tear film chapter aims to give the clinician "the keys" in fitting and prescribing soft lenses for best patient comfort.

My Aunt just had her eyes done at Long Island Eye Care... her descision was totally influenced by reading this and two other books on eye surgeries. She ended up avoiding Lasik and going with Mike Sable, a master. No scaring or pain, on visible anything 24 hours after the procedure...no dry eye... go to the Jordan of Surgery in your area if you are messing with your eyes. Cut no corners and read and study to inform this most crittical of descisions.

This book gave me all the information that I needed in order to make an educated decision regarding which refractive surgery was right for me. It is written in terms that a regular person can comprehend, which in turn, enabled me to communicate with my own physician more clearly.

I highly recommend this book if you are considering refractive surgery of any kind. You'll be glad you did!

As with "System for Ophthalmic Dispensing," I started my formative training on a previous edition of "Fitting Guide for Rigid and Soft Contact Lenses: A Practical Approach." It is very thorough, yet surprisingly easy to read. This latest edition is a must read for all contact lens fitters. All information is up to date for today's field.

This updated edition of Malpractice & contact lenses covers many areas that practitioners will find of special value, especially in today's climate of increased risk. This book will also be of value to the attorney who is involved with malpractice issues and contact lenses.

This book was written for the student as well as the seasoned practitioner and contains specific examples of forms, charts, and suggestions for improving the efficiency of patient record-keeping which will expedite and improve office procedures and help to limit liability.

The author has limited his private practice to contact lens work for over 34 years. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and has taught contact lens fitting and pathology in Europe for the past 23 years. He is presently a vice president of the Societie d' Europe d'Optometrie and serves on the visiting staff of The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He also serves as a consultant to attorneys in both the defense and prosecution of contact lens cases.

WYSIWYG - Truly lives up to it's title!

Although I have briefly glimpsed through this book at the medical bookshop, it is my humble opinion that the title truly lives up to it's readers expectations! I specifically looked up a couple of topics and briefly fingered through the topics (Stevens - Johnsons syndrome & acute anterior uveitis) - the book gave you the definition, the signs and symptoms, treatment, etc. This was done with much thought and care, systematically.I was about to purchase the Wills manual of Ophthalmoloy (not the exact title) but this book fulfills all my expectations in a pocket manual. As an ophthalmic nurse I am definitely getting this one.
