This Book has really helped me. I'd had it & just brought it for a co-worker. Will highly recommand. Only disadvantage is that I wish it would of had some picture for the anatomy, especially of the vascular system; like circle of willis, heart, etc.(even if small ones).

This is poorly done as it contains some erroneous information, mismarked images, and is not up to date despite its recent release. I do not recommend it as a reference as it is misleading and difficult to understand for a simple handbook. A listing for major branches from the aorta has veins mentioned. A right kidney is actually a left kidney. Suggests use of 256 matrix for most routines studies which is an outdated suggestion. Some of the information is OK, but I would not recommend.

This book provides an excellent quick reference for any busy CT office. The broad spectrum of reference studies and protocols are an excellent platform to create and build a well rounded protocol base. This book also provides the basics to the first time spiral users and provides a quick information base for the experienced tech.

Precise pocket companion
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2000-03-29
The pocket atlas provides a precise review and labelling on the anatomy of head and neck region. The book is quite small and can really be put into the pocket.

However, the color used for illustration is quite confusing. It is difficult for one to distingusih among their color label in the atlas. In addition, the quality of the radiological imaging is not as good as the image that you would encounter in the daily practice since the radiological imaging may be generated by some old machine.

Unnecessarily difficult to understand.

This book is too technical and much of the information contained in it is irrelevant to both technologists and radiologists. The author does not attempt to clarify complicated topics. Instead, he often just quotes from a physicist. Other textbooks on CT are much more "user friendly". The best title is "Introduction to Computed Tomography" by Lois Romans

This book was OK, although I wish the answers were explained for you. I used this and the book "Registry Review in Computed Tomography" by Daniel N. DeMaio to study and I passed my CT exam the first try after not having taken a test of that nature in 30 years!

This book is a total waste of time. The book is very limited and offers little information along with bad photographic examples of too few exams. A TOTAL WASTE.

Need a magnifying glass
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2008-03-09
The format of the book is fine and information seems to be good. However, not sure where the blame lies, but someone should lose their job over this product. All of the images in the book (of which there are more than 1000) are incredibly small! Each image is 1.2" x 1.3" in size. That's only slightly larger than a postage stamp. It's bad enough for the whole body PETs, which admittedly being nuclear med are not extremely high resolution, but come on, you can hardly make out ANY details. And the correlating CT's, I have to place my nose against the image, or truly use a magnifying glass, to even get a hint of the abnormality they are apparently showing. I am all for being green, but this is ridiculous. Think of your PACS monitor being on a 300 matrix (which no manufacturer would even conceive of) for these images. Absolutely incredible. This book needs an immediate revision to redo it; as it stands, worthless and was returned.

What a disappointment! The cards are too general and too wordy! There is a whole paragraph on the answer side of each card; nothing is condensed to the facts. Also has many questions that do not pertain to a test for CT technologists. For example "Describe how maxillofacial surgeons interact with other specialists." THIS will be on our registry exam? They do provide a neat method of studying cards, but not with these cards! Save your money!

i am this close to throwing my copy out in the trash. there is a reason there isn't a photo of the book, neither can you see inside, don't be hoodwinked!!
firstly the info seems like it was mass collected then just put together randomly, there is no order to it, and it is sometimes very ambiguous.

Disappointing textbook
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-08-30
This textbook is a disappointment. There are too few images for a radiology textbook that purports to offer an international perspective on occupational and environmental lung disease. There is too much unenlightening text and very little that is new. This is a small thin book, both literally and figuratively. It is way overpriced.
