Complementary-Therapy Books

This text, published initially in 1985, and available in three editions, is, in my professional opinion, the most useful text on the subject of spinal locomotor dysfunction and its sequelae of any ever available. I am dismayed to find that it is no longer published, as the information contained within is just as useful and relevant today as it was twenty years ago. Dr. Lewit amassed an enormous amount of skill and knowledge during his many years of practice in Czechoslovakia, and he patiently shares much of that knowledge throughout this text. The book follows a logical progression, beginning with a description of the various types of locomotor dysfunction, then progressing to examination and therapeutics (manual treatment). He then provides a lengthy chapter dealing with detailed evaluation and differential diagnosis of many conditions often associated with or caused by locomotor dysfunction, as well as his experiences on important modifications or contraindications when warranted. Unlike many contemporary texts, Dr. Lewit's text reads as a detailed guide. He patiently takes the reader through each topic, providing all of the essential bits-and-pieces along the way. I've rarely encountered a text that is this thorough in its coverage. I still refer to this text regularly, though my copy is extensively highlighted, marked, and well-read. His sections on the evaluation and differential considerations of cervical torticollis, disturbances of equilibrium, and pseudoradicular syndromes are unrivaled -- better than any text I've yet read in chiropractic, neurology, or orthopedics. This is also the only text I've yet read that demonstrates the proper use and differential diagnosis of conditions causing an abnormal Hautant's test (it's for a lot more than vertibrobasilar ischemia). Dr. Lewit practiced with two other notable Czech physicians: Dr.s Jan Jirout and Vladimir Janda. These three men have published extensively since the 1950s on topics related to manual medicine, and their expertise, though not in name, is also evident in this book. In my professional opinion, this book is worth its weight in gold for the information it contains, especially now that it's no longer published. Of all the texts I own on locomotor dysfunction, this is the best.

Exelent old way to regaing your health. It is the only solution to chonic pain. There is no such thing as arthritis or neurythis till Neural Therapy demostrates it. It is the most treasured secrect for well being and heath, not only that it all began when you start looking yonger and free of old age, but for lots of people to get cure of toxicities and what is known as modern deseases.

Current, comprehensive and accurate... this book is an excellent resource and delivers on the promise of its title.

The CD-ROM adds very nicely to its value as you get access to all the text and graphics (through a browser) as well as video clips of Dr. Chaitow explaining & demonstrating technique.

The text is clear. The research is current (6/10/07). The drawings are clear. The organization is helpful, whether you're reading it from beginning to end, or if you're reading a specific chapter.

The reader will quickly understand, know how to locate (by pain maps and/or palpation), and know how to treat myofascial trigger points.

THE BOOK WAS VERY LATE IN COMING. I DON'T THINK IT WAS MAILED UNTIL I COMPLAINED.

Medical Acupuncture, A Western Scientific Approach is a collection of essays on acupuncture that helps serve as the foundation of a bridge between acupunture as practiced in Tradtional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupunture as practiced from a western biomedical or neuroanatomic perspective. It is not a stand alone book. It is not a practical "how to" book. It is a solid "bridge" book that allows the western trained mind gain a better understanding of acupuncture and how it works / may work.

Not only is the book a great reference but the author Dr Logan is an amazing doctor. We have had a long relationship with the doctor and recommend him highly.

Louise has an incredibly warm, comforting voice and she obviously knows a lot about psychology, which she applies to wonderful effect in a very loving way. The first meditation is called Your Healing Light, and it's just her voice with piano and a bit of synth.

The meditations follow one another like golden sonic waves, all of them addressing some vital issue or another. Many of the beautiful phrases have stuck in my mind, like "there's a part of you that is more than your past, more than your relationships and more than your personality ..." and "I move from success to success, from joy to joy and from abundance to abundance" and "I am open and receptive to all good."

This tape also taught me how to forgive people that I did not want to forgive or did not know how. After about 2 weeks I experienced a dramatic improvement in my outlook on life. I have subsequently moved on to far more technologically advanced cassettes (Eldon Taylor & Paul Scheele) but for sheer human warmth and understanding, nobody comes close to Louise Hay.

I would strongly recommend this cassette to anybody who has been abused in any way or who is depressed or feels helpless. It is uncanny, but I think there a type of vibration emanating from this cassette, which is more than the sum total of her voice and her words.

A must for all caregivers and useful for the rest of us seeking state of the art care for ourselves and our families.The author's background and review of recent historical changes provides for a great read.

I found this book very informative on different therapies for common problems - some of them which i wasn't even aware of. I bought it as a novice for herbal remedies and aromatherapy but am now learning Tai Chi from a professional and practice my Yoga. It is a very good book for those interested in natural healing processes.
