As a professional comprehensive healing practitioner I have read hundreds upon hundreds of resources, always seeking out key elements and information written in layman's terms to share with clients, resources that help clients empower themselves. Let me tell you, they are hard to come by!

I bought Colleen Deatsman's book and read it cover to cover, then went through it again and applied every single exercise, meditation, etc., doing so from a client's point of view. Was this something I could easily and without reservation recommend to clients? Was this a resource the average person could read, understand, and apply with ease? Astoundingly, throughout the entire book, through each and every method shared by Colleen, the answer is an astounding "YES!" to every question. This is _the_ book I had been looking for. (My only complaint, and it's a small one, is the section on Energy Cord Cutting. Because of my work and research with energy cords, I have discovered that pulling and other non-cutting methods tend to be safer and more effective. - Sorry, Colleen! =p)

Because of the amazing benefits of applying Colleen's knowledge I have seen incredible results, with myself, and with clients. Numerous clients who have purchased this title have written or called afterward to tell me of their amazing results, especially when combined with treatment from an esoteric energy practitioner.

This has become the **number one book** (and CD) I recommend to clients, colleagues, family, and friends. "Energy for Life" is worth 20,000 times its weight in gold. It is a must-have resource for anyone in the healing arts, and for those simply looking for result-oriented methods they can easily apply themselves, in the comfort of their own homes.

An amazing book.

An amazing explination of energy and how to stay connected and energized in our lives. One of the best written books on the subject I have ever seen. An absolute must for any healer, lightworker, shaman, or just anyone who wants to learn valuable techniques for taking control of your life and claiming all the power that is yours.

This is a book full of exercises dealing with energy, visualizations and so on. If that's what you were looking for, great; this is the book for you. But I was looking instead for a book not so "practical", but rather focusing on a better general management of your energy, so as to keep always in control of your energy level and prevent getting depleted when you are tired, or get suddenly angry, for instance.
I guess I will have to keep looking for that other book. Anyway, this book could be of help to you if what you are looking for is a daily exercise program to keep "fitness", energetically speaking.

"Energy for Life" is a very valuable resource for those of you looking for ways to activate your energy. So many of us are stressed out from having to figure out how to survive in today's world.

Colleen Deatsman teaches us how to thrive and not just survive. She brilliantly teaches what energy is, how to activate your own life-force energy, release blockages, stop energy leakages, and connect with the source of life.

I really appreciate how Collen takes some complex metaphysical concepts and can speak about them in a way that is easy to follow showing us how to work with energy on a day to day level in our lives.

I also appreciate her own journey as "a wounded healer". For she overcame chronic illness using the techniques she shares in her book. She knows the path that we must all walk on our healing journey.

I highly recommend this book to learn how to rejuvenate and heal. She also included a CD of guided meditations which are simple and relaxing to work with.

All in all "Energy for Life" is a gift for all of us living in today's world. It's well written, easy to follow, engaging and gives us practical ways to change our health as well as our lives.

Big Thumbs Up

I am interested in energy work from a metaphysical standpoint but that should not stop anyone else who is interested in raising their energy levels and getting connected with their center core. One just needs an open mind not a religious affiliation or context to benefit from the information contained within.

The CD was amazing although I wish there were other mediations from the book that could have been added to the CD which would have made this package out of this world.

As with anything else, meditations differ from person to person, I tend to prefer the more concise practices rather than the drag me out 40 minute editions which one does not always have time for. Thank goodness of the 5 meditations only one was longer than 20 minutes and it turned out to be my least favorite anyway.

Overall this book and CD are worth the price.

This book provides an anecdotal overview of the impact of mindfulness in medicine by walking and talking the reader through the experience of a full course. It teaches about mindfulness in the context of healing, or living with disease, via the experiences of the participants and the course leaders. It's a great resource for anyone exploring the use of mindfulness exercises or programs as a healing aid. It also provides a lot of self help lessons for anyone who would like to try out the concepts without committing to a full class, or for someone without access to a mindfulness program.

This is the Most Used Reference in My Library

I started using this book in the late 1980's for myself and found great help. I find that it is not only a very well researched book, it is also the most effectively organized book.
The first half tells you about each herbs (alphabetically listed) useful in addressing (we do not Treat with herbs) a medical matter, it tells you how to prepare for the best delivery and frequency. The second half of the book lists conditions (alphabetically listed) and what those herbs most successful in usage. If you can't find your topic there is even in index.
What is great about the third edition is that the author added sections on definitions and directions for the beginners; dangerous herbs so that you can avoid any interactions with medications; vitamins and minerals and what they do in the body; poisonous plants; and how to detox and cleanse.
I have been able to help more people in minutes than spending hours researching to find the same material in another book. It is worth far more than its weight in Gold. I consider this one of the most reliable and important resources I own.

I started becoming interested in the use of herbs in 1999. I literally bought a dozen books on herbs, vitamins and natural remedies. This is the only book I have kept. It is my number one source for herb information. I also love the format of it. Not too wordy...just the facts and what you need to know. I would love to see this book updated and released as a newer edition but still wouldn't trade my older edition for a million dollars. Seriously, it's just that good of a tool in learning and using herbs.

Some time before the "great herb" rush, I purchased this book to use for combatting a few bodily irregularities. I loved and have often referred back to it over the years. The cross-referencing of the book is good. You can look for a specific herb (as this section is alphabetized) or you can look for a specific ailment.

The only portions I was a little disappointed with were the section pertaining to formulas; I think there should have been one for each ailment in the book (and this section should've followed the ailment sections and not the herb section). Additionally, I think the section listing which herbs contained which vitamin should've also shown what each vitamin is known to do for the body.

Otherwise, this is one of those books you won't ever loan (because you'll never see it again).

Penny Royal's reverse look-ups are a great education

Review Date: 2005-01-11
One invaluable thing about this book is the reverse look-ups. In one section you can look up any given herb and see the list of what ailments it can ease. In another section you can look up a health problem and read the list of herbs that are useful for that symptom or illness. This style of reverse reference is a godsend when you're under pressure with a sick child.

Another advantage of this book is that it gave me an almost effortless familiarity of herbs and their uses that has served me well in the long run. It's not the kind of book you "read" per se. It's the kind of book you leaf through for answers whenever there's a health problem in your family. Over time, simply by repeated exposure to the herbs and symptoms lists, it all begins to stick in your mind and you become more adept without really noticing.

This book was a solid gold asset to me all through my daughter's childhood. Rather than rely on doctors to feed her antibiotics and drugs, I raised her on dietary adjustments for allergies and fed her herbs and raw honey for illness. (She was a lamb about taking what to me were horrible concoctions - as long as I opened the capsules and mixed the contents in honey. I used raw honey for its antibiotic properties.)

While this might not be the book you'd use to deepen an existing knowledge of herbs, it's the one you'll call a true friend when it comes to quickly prescribing herbal remedies for yourself and your family. The nurse who monitored our slow but steady progress as I painstakingly healed my daughter of chronic ear infection told me that most parents just let the doctors do the operation to install the grommet - sometimes repeatedly. She was impressed at what natural remedies can do for the stereotypical childhood illness. I told her I owed my powers of healing to this book.

There are answers for many of the common ailments and questions in here. A great reference, particularly if you are trying to save a little bit of money or go natural before using medicines.

Akashic Who's Who: Of Psychics, Mediums, Healers and More!

Here is a book that surprized me totally, what this is is a dictionary of a variety of styles and methods of healing that can used any time any where on anyone. I am keeping this one on my desk for easy reference. It cleary explains how to incorporate healing into our every day lives, sort of a personality match for different energies. It stresses that anyone can heal any ailment, disease, addiction and pain. Not only do these different healing techniques work, but they are quite easy to follow with the information given. The research on these techniques gave enough credulance that I came away wanting to immediately try some out at least once to see the outcome, i was amazed! If something works out likek this then lets all incorporate our attitude to be ready to heal at a moments notice under any sudden circumstance, could be a first aid tool of sorts.

This book is indeed timely, the manner of our changing times that we live in is bombared toxically in all elements, affecting our bodies, minds and soul, this is the hand book to use. It opened me up to many more techniques that effectively heal clients, other people and pets.

Nice work by author Serge Kahili King, Ph.D., btw he has published other books that are excellant sources of information.

Even if you have knowledge or a beginner of the art of candle magic this book will give you the necessary information. It goes through the types of candles, colors, figural, moon phases, planetary hours and some other vital information. My only drawback of this book is that although it provides all the information to burning your candles, it does not explain how to read divinational signs. The skill of preparing and lighting the candles are explained in detail. One important part is the end result. It's important to know if the work was successful or failed. The way a candle burns can give you an indication if things are going to happen slowly or quickly, good or bad. As well as how the flames burn, if the glass encased candle is clear or black. I am now searching for a book that can give me this other piece of information in greater detail. Overall, this is one of the best books to own in your pursuit to mastering candle magic.

I would also say that this book is a good companion to "The master book of candle burning" by Henri Gamache.
There are some helpful illustrations and diagrams for the first time candle lighter. This book is worth having.

Brett Bevell's ideas are truly mind blowing! If you're searching for a great next step in your evolution as a human and want to help the world, look into Reiki. This book will really make you think about where you are in the grand scheme of Universal energy, and how you can use it to better yourself and the world you live in. Brett's writing is very well thought out and easy to grasp, and will keep you thinking well after you've put the book down. There's a lot about time/space if you're a fan of science.

The attunement parts of the book are very short, the book is mostly about what Brett has found in his experimentation with Reiki. He even explains how he thinks it would be possible to cure every illness by attuning Reiki to the way different pharmaceutical drugs act, so there would be no use for drugs. Very fascinating!

If you're looking into attending an attunement class, but can't afford the cash (sometimes the classes can be pricey and a little time intensive) you can use this book to attune yourself. It's Reiki evolving out of the "master needs to attune student" mindset, and moving it into "Reiki For Everyone" instead.

LOVE this book!

Review Date: 2008-08-21
The title The Reiki Magic Guide to Self-Attunement is a bit of a misnomer. First off, Reiki is not magic in the normally thought of sense. Reiki is merely universal life energy/ unconditional love. Moreover, the author does not teach the reader how to become attuned to Reiki. Instead, the book includes instructions on how to call down the three traditional levels of attunement and a variety of other symbols used by the author.

With that said, The Reiki Magic Guide to Self-Attunement is a pretty decent overview of Reiki for beginners. Not only can the reader receive the attunements on his or her own time schedule but they can gleam the basics after perusing the text. Then, as the author states, they can learn through experimentation what the energies can do.

I very much agree with the author that Reiki is the birthright of us all. I also believe that a true Reiki Master is molded through experience and building a partnership of sorts with the energies rather than his or her ability to pay someone to teach them very strict, inflexible ways of practicing.

I am new to Reiki, and was not sure if my second attunement had ''taken'' or not. After reading the reviews on this, thought I'd give it a try. It is totally great! I did both attunements over, and really love this book! It explains things much better than the manuals I was given. It is short and to the point, with just important things, which was just what I wanted. But what I liked even better, was the IDEAS it has given me, for the things I can try with Reiki. It did a great job of helping me see possibilities, and be able to experiment. I also ordered another book at the same time, and was very disappointed with it; it was practically worthless, at least for me now. Not so this one. This one was absolutely perfect to help me get started, and I would think it would also be helpful to people that are further along, to help widen the horizons of Reiki. Money VERY well spent!

I ordered this book on a lark. Before I ordered it I had a very successful EMDR session and this book shows a perfect way to get the same benefits. It addresses trauma and how to process it so it becomes something of the past. I can't recommend this book enough for anybody who is stuck in a painful situation, has PTSD, or simply wants to become more alive to the moment. EMDR:
American Psychiatric Association (2004). Practice Guideline for the Treatment of Patients with Acute Stress Disorder and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. When a self-improvement book is reviewed I always look for actual experience from people who have tried the methods in the book - not just those read it and agree with it. Well now I am reviewing 'Walk Your Blue's Away' and I can say unequivocally IT WORKS, at least for me. All of my adult life I have been prone to depressive episodes from rejection and loss - even if the loss is very small. Recently a loving and satisfying relationship of 5 years was broken off by my partner. I knew from experience I was poised to nosedive into depression. This was despite many years of zealous embrace of cognitive behavior therapy in which the two sides of the brain battle. An adverse event triggers dejection, anger, depression. With cognitive therapy you have to identify the irrational thought that supposedly triggers your negative emotions, dispute the thought, and find a rational and sensible substitute thought. The problem was the negative emotions would take sometimes years to dissipate and I was constantly ruminating and flashing back to previous events. What Thom's book does is address healing. When you heal from emotional trauma with this method, the two sides of the brain actually are successful in integrating reason and emotion. With cognitive therapy reason and emotion seemed to constantly battle one another without resolution. You might win a battle but the next day another begins. I contend that after 5 daily walks following the simple guidelines of the book, the crushing sadness of rejection has lifted. The memories that previously would trigger bouts of depression are still there but now in the distance. They no longer dominate my mood allowing me to concentrate and get on with my life. At the end of each session my thinking was especially sharp - the corrective rational thoughts that I tried for years to marshal with cognitive therapy were at last automatic. Everyone suffers loss, rejection and emotional trauma. The key, as Thom says is, to facilitate your ability to heal naturally.

I think any one looking to understand the Mind will feel the truth in this book. I can remember the ways of my Grandmother in the teachings here in Wolf Medicine. I feel any one looking will find a basic teaching of the North part of the Rainbow Medicine Wheel. I wish all good studies and learnings from Wolf Medicine, you will love it.

This book relays elegant little Shamanic journeys, the author has taken, and marks a few roadsigns for a beginner to follow.

I would categorize this book for beginners, and could easily be understood by young adults.

My ONLY complaint is her version of the medicine wheel. Of the 12-15 medicine wheel traditions I have seen; this one is by far the most complex.

Personaly; I prefer the medicine wheel tradition that is based on the vision of Oglala Sioux holy man Nick Black Elk.

If you want to learn this easier medicine wheel tradition; contact me by E-mail.

I will get my license in Clinical Massage Therapy next year. I will incorporate this guide into my practice. This book deals with help for a very wide range of negative and defeating emotions. I am learning, unreleased negative energy is often a very real contributor to chronic conditions, pain, tightness and stress.

Great Book
