How to use the Bach Flower Remedies with Your Horse
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-22
Review Date: 2007-07-22
If your horse's behavior has you stymied, and the tried and true training techniques have failed to yield results, this book
may help.
Emotional Healing for Horses and Ponies sheds light on the equine view of the world, which is often so very different from our own. Authors Stefan Ball, Heather Simpson, and Judy Howard remind us that most of all, horses are prey animals, and everything they think and feel is filtered through that prism.
They address a host of what we often perceive as difficult or puzzling behaviors, not only explaining the horse's perspective but offering specific advice on the appropriate uses for the various Bach Flower Remedies, which work on a vibrational level to bring emotions into balance.
Among the common dilemmas they address are trailer and travel problems, fear and anxiety, boredom, aggression, and grief. Rather than simply prescribing one particular remedy as a cure-all for a particular situation, the authors stress the importance of understanding the root cause of the behavior, because there are subtle nuanced differences in the ways in which each remedy will affect the nervous system.
For example, if a horse is fearful of entering a trailer for no apparent reason, Mimulus might be helpful. If you know that the horse's refusal is a result of a previous traumatic experience, then you might try Star of Bethlehem. If the horse is simply balking because of wariness of a new experience, then Walnut might be in order. Or if a horse panics and completely loses control, Rescue Remedy could be just the thing to ease the stress.
The authors provide a glossary of the vibrational qualities and equine uses for each of the 38 Bach Flower Remedies, with advice as to how to administer them. They have packed this slim volume with dozens of stories and examples of how the remedies, coupled with other types of intervention, can ameliorate "the stress of living with people." If you own or work with horses, it's an invaluable guide.

INtegrative medicine- isn't about time?

Dr. Eisenberg is one of the poineers of the Integartive medicine in US ( which is a fussion between the conventional and
alternative therapies). Western medicine has achieved things that seemed imposible 1-2 centuries ago, but it seems to be
stuck with its overly rationalistic approach toward disease...is the body functioning depending from the mind? Can attitude
affect one's well- being? Could ther e be somthing that we still do not know about human physiology? Western science is just
entering the realm of mind/body medicine( neuroscience), while some nations (like Chinese) have millenia long history of
practicing and perfecting those methods of treatment....so why not learn to use those methods? Why not integrate them into
conventional western medicine? Partly because the public and the medical proffessionals are not aware of all those options,
and also because there is still some stigma in medical society about the alternative practices. Dr. Eisengberg's book disspels
part of that stigma in a very easy to read, livelly and plesant style...

I am a medical doctor and researcher and would like to congratulate the writer on this authoritative work of excellence -
detailed, well researched, beautifully formatted and absolutely indispensable.
It not only lists remedy relations for 685 remedies (complements, follow-wells, collaterals, antidotes, durations etc) but also validates each piece of information with references!
I wonder how homeopaths the world over were doing without something as invaluable as this, since those who believe in, and work with 'disease layers' have to be aware of what follows well, what is inimical and which remedy to expect in succession.
Doubtless there were some books that dealt with this subject like the works of Gibson Miller, Sankaran, Chitkara and J. H. Clarke, but these were neither complete nor referenced. The Encyclopedia is a true classic and will stand every homeopath in good stead.
The author has painstakingly (it took him 16 years) put together advice and recommendations of Great Homeopaths of yore like Lippe, Nash, Farrington, Allen and Hahnemann himself, in a brilliantly systematic way. The work itself uses J. H. Clarke's Clinical Relationships as its basis.
If you want to get a taste of the wisdom of the Homeopathic Masters, gleaned from experience spanning two centuries, this book is a must-read!
Hats off to Prof. Abdur Rehman for his labor of love. As long as there are exceptionally gifted people like him with such an ardent love and regard for Homeopathy, there is hope for humanity.

This is one of my favorite books on the subject of the human energy dynamic. Written in simple, straightforward language,
it takes some really complex ideas and brings them all together so that the information can be directly used on a daily basis.
I have had this book for several years; my copy is really dog-eared. I use it often. I am a fan of the work of Donna Eden and Iona Marsaa Teegarden and the work of all three I keep with me. This book is a prime piece in my collection.
It's a keeper.
