The best health book everReview Date: 2001-08-04
Ann Wigmore also explains why not all vegetables are the same and why exactly organic is best, especially from a nutrition point of view. She also explains how to successfully grow your own veggies and sprouts yourself, even indoors, with very little equipment, all easy to get. And then she goes into the wheatgrass and its juices, explain how she discovered it's the most nutritious grass of all, and tell you how to sprout it and juice it properly, how to keep it, and even how to mail it to someone without making it lose its potential!
If you want to be healthy and keep healthy for many years to come, this is the book for you. I believe everyone should read this book, even people who are usually not into health books. Even my husband, omnivore and avid reader of comic books, found this book interesting and useful. Go for it, you will be amazed how simple it is to be healthy!

Imporant facts to knowReview Date: 2006-01-21
This handy book about "Bees & Other Stinging Insects" provides a lot of important information in a small portable guide. The conversational approach makes the material easy to understand while color photos assist in the identification of bees, wasps, yellow jackets and hornets.
As part of the "10 things to know" series, the book is divided into 10 categories covering the statistics about stinging insects, explaining the nature of bees and wasps, and enumerating the value of these creatures. The authors provide pertinent information on preventing and avoiding negative encounters, examining the physiology of a sting, gauging the victim's physical reaction, and controlling the pain. They also devote a chapter to when and how to eliminate these pests if they pose a threat to your home.
Some of the content is common knowledge and common sense, but the Connolly duo reveals interesting information about these insects' behavior and habits. Did you know wasps can actually summon aid when you are swatting or killing one? The authors also provide good insights into human behavior that can irritate these insects. Do you regularly shriek and flail your arms when an insect buzzes past you? Or, do you gently shake moist beach towels to detect unwanted visitors and avoid trapping them?
Since I am allergic to bee stings, I found the information helpful. I learned the importance of removing the stinger quickly and how to take that step without releasing more venom into my body. I also learned about traditional and homeopathic options to relieve the pain that follows a sting.
Readers of all ages would benefit from the information in "Bees & Other Stinging Insects." The authors have compiled a useful tool for those who want to know the important facts in a minimal amount of time.

Reprint of a classicReview Date: 2005-10-27
Beyond Conception, our Children's Children was originally published in 1971 by Gambit Press of Boston. The book addresses the most serious problem of our times, the unprecedented human population explosion. In the interval from original publication to this revisiting of a classic, the world population has increased by 2 billion persons - from 4 billion in 1975 to 6 bilion in 2000! The author addresses birth control issues and population control issues. It is striking to note that, while there has been progress with birth control methods and their worldwide distribution, virtually nothing has been done to address population control. This book is still ahead of its time on this vital issue.

The language is accessible and engaging, and Quest is ready to admit to her own preferences or biases when discussing (for example) different ways of learning. The book includes good, clear diagrams of the hand positions, contact details for Reiki organisations around the world, terminology definitions and various visualisation/relaxation exercises.
Altogether a fine book; I certainly recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest interest in Reiki, or is simply exploring spirituality or complementary healing techniques.
