The Basics of Reiki: A Step-By-Step Guide to Healing with Reiki

An excellent overview and explanation of Reiki.

Penelope Quest's book is an excellent introduction to Reiki, whether one knows nothing about it or has done a Level One course. It covers the history, what to expect in classes and with attunements, what to look for in a Reiki master to teach you, the ways of practicing, the different schools of Reiki teaching, and various applications (such as healing pets).

The language is accessible and engaging, and Quest is ready to admit to her own preferences or biases when discussing (for example) different ways of learning. The book includes good, clear diagrams of the hand positions, contact details for Reiki organisations around the world, terminology definitions and various visualisation/relaxation exercises.

Altogether a fine book; I certainly recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest interest in Reiki, or is simply exploring spirituality or complementary healing techniques.

I loved this little book - it is packed with wisdom and light and inspires us to live deeper, more connected lives. Well written with humor and humility, the book is composed of a series of vignettes that each illuminate a greater whole of understanding thy self, each chapter a new leaf or prayer. What I really like about this book is that although it focuses on the significant achievement of self fulfillment, the writer uses her own experience of the every day world to ground us in that enlightened journey. As a result, this is perhaps the most accessible and calming self awareness book I have ever read. It is a shining gem.

The best health book ever

This book focuses on the right diet (as in food regimen, not as in weightloss diet) for the human body. And through a very interesting and logic but very simple way of writing, Ann Wigmore explains how she got, through her research, to find what's best for our body: a vegetarian diet, best if based on raw foods. But don't be tricked into thinking that this is just another vegetarian book: this book actually explains how you can help your body stay healthy and cure it if you are currently ill, by simply bringing it back to balance, with the help of natural elements.

Ann Wigmore also explains why not all vegetables are the same and why exactly organic is best, especially from a nutrition point of view. She also explains how to successfully grow your own veggies and sprouts yourself, even indoors, with very little equipment, all easy to get. And then she goes into the wheatgrass and its juices, explain how she discovered it's the most nutritious grass of all, and tell you how to sprout it and juice it properly, how to keep it, and even how to mail it to someone without making it lose its potential!

If you want to be healthy and keep healthy for many years to come, this is the book for you. I believe everyone should read this book, even people who are usually not into health books. Even my husband, omnivore and avid reader of comic books, found this book interesting and useful. Go for it, you will be amazed how simple it is to be healthy!

I love the cover with the feather in place of the word bird. Very effective. Your book is very concise, to the point, and effective. I know how difficult it is to pare down words and concepts. But you did that and it works great. It's extremely easy to read. I feel certain that this book will be a success. Many people are concerned about the bird flu and you make it clear how to protect ourselves.

Imporant facts to know

This handy book about "Bees & Other Stinging Insects" provides a lot of important information in a small portable guide. The conversational approach makes the material easy to understand while color photos assist in the identification of bees, wasps, yellow jackets and hornets.

As part of the "10 things to know" series, the book is divided into 10 categories covering the statistics about stinging insects, explaining the nature of bees and wasps, and enumerating the value of these creatures. The authors provide pertinent information on preventing and avoiding negative encounters, examining the physiology of a sting, gauging the victim's physical reaction, and controlling the pain. They also devote a chapter to when and how to eliminate these pests if they pose a threat to your home.

Some of the content is common knowledge and common sense, but the Connolly duo reveals interesting information about these insects' behavior and habits. Did you know wasps can actually summon aid when you are swatting or killing one? The authors also provide good insights into human behavior that can irritate these insects. Do you regularly shriek and flail your arms when an insect buzzes past you? Or, do you gently shake moist beach towels to detect unwanted visitors and avoid trapping them?

Since I am allergic to bee stings, I found the information helpful. I learned the importance of removing the stinger quickly and how to take that step without releasing more venom into my body. I also learned about traditional and homeopathic options to relieve the pain that follows a sting.

Readers of all ages would benefit from the information in "Bees & Other Stinging Insects." The authors have compiled a useful tool for those who want to know the important facts in a minimal amount of time.

Beyond Conception, our Children's Children was originally published in 1971 by Gambit Press of Boston. The book addresses the most serious problem of our times, the unprecedented human population explosion. In the interval from original publication to this revisiting of a classic, the world population has increased by 2 billion persons - from 4 billion in 1975 to 6 bilion in 2000! The author addresses birth control issues and population control issues. It is striking to note that, while there has been progress with birth control methods and their worldwide distribution, virtually nothing has been done to address population control. This book is still ahead of its time on this vital issue.

This book have been written with the power of love. Why do I say that? Because we can feel the compassion all along the chapter. I like to read someone who walk his talk. When I read someone, to be interested and stay interested all along the chapters, the words must resonate in me. It sure did! Otherwise, I would have felt bored pretty quickly. This book leads us through the coming paradigm shift : prevention and natural healing. For sure, it's experience at work! And, as we all know, no money can buy experience! The book is clear, well documented, and I did appreciate the author's integrity. I hope someone will translate this book in french very soon, because here, in Quebec, it would be a big hit, believe me, we need to know more about biomagnetic.
