The themes covered in this book are universal. It helps you make connections between physical and emotional illness and
will open eyes to individual problems. If you are a homeopath or use flower essences, it groups psychological problems and
points out relationships. However, I would caution you to use flower essences before homeopathic treatment, rather than concurrently.
The energetic resonance may not match as well as the words that seem to speak of the same problem. Then too, it is difficult
to know where positive results are coming from when therapies are mixed.

Discover the ancient secrets of aromatherapy

Once you have chopped fresh rosemary and used it in cooking, you will never view herbs in the same way. Rosemary can also
help improve mood. In "Secrets of Aromatherapy" you will find the botanical name, plant type, essential oil source, fragrance
description, geographical origin, safety notes, properties, key use, other uses, psychological affect and what the essential
oil of rosemary can be blended with.
Aromatherapy can be used to defuse emotion, mental and physical stress. Plant extracts contain many secrets of healing. The essential oils are extracted from the plants and can then be applied to promote relaxation or healing.
The essential oils can be found in the root (ginger), leaves (rosemary), fruit (oranges), flower (rose) or wood (sandalwood). As you journey into the amazing world of aromatherapy, you will discover favorite scents you will enjoy time after time.
The first chapter gives historical details, shows how the oils are extracted, explains oils and carrier oils, gives therapeutic guidelines, shows methods of use and gives the best ways to store oils. The second chapter features 30 key essential oils and 8 carrier oils for home use. A variety of charts shows health conditions and how to treat them with the oils.
Enter the world of: Lavender, patchouli, orange, neroli, cypress, rosemary, juniper, marjoram, eucalyptus, sandalwood, tea tree, peppermint, jasmine, clary sage, rose, mandarin, bergamont and ylang ylang. Jojoba, avocado, evening primrose, apricot kernel, grapeseed, sunflower and other oils are discussed in detail.
If you want to make your own "base cream," you will appreciate the recipes for mixtures containing beeswax, rose water and almond oil. These are great fun to make and I made a batch of peppermint cream one Christmas. We found little hand cream containers and gave them away as gifts.
The third chapter contains pictures and explanations for using the essential oil mixtures in massage. If you have never been to a massage, there is a whole section dedicated to explaining massage. After a long hard day, you might also enjoy creating a sanctuary for yourself with candles, music and a tub of warm water scented with your favorite oil.
There are many ideas on how you can use the oils throughout your home. I recently found a source for lavender wood furniture oil and it scents my whole home when I use it on furniture. The company I purchase my oils from is online. There are also many sources in the back of this book. Most health food stores now carry a whole line of essential oils. Look for blends of your favorite oils or for individual scents. Soon you will have a large collection and using essential oils will become as "essential" to your life as eating and sleeping. Please feel free to write to me if you need a source for purchasing essential oils.

This book simplifies the study of Aromatherapy, with information straight-to-the-point that clearly explains how useful can
essential oils be. In an A to Z format, the author details the characteristics of more than 50 essential oils, giving special
tips for what it addresses, what does it helps promote and some safety information, such as oils that might irritate skin
if applied directly. The book also includes Lifestyle tips for different needs such as for traveling, during the menstruation,
at the office, in relationships, for the spirit, and many others. The author gives highlights about ways to use the essential
oils and how many drops should be used. Seems like every detail about basic aromatherapy is covered in this book. Excellent
resource of information when looking for a new oil.

I first learned of Joni's insightful work in her book "Aromatherapy & Subtle Energy Techniques" and was eager to read her
newest work. As a certified massage therapist I think her books are a wonderful tool for bodyworkers. Her writing eleminates
the fluff and cuts to the core of what will help us grow as healers. Her connection to the divine within is evident from the
very first page. I highly recommend this book to all bodyworkers as well as the layperson who is looking to enrich their spiritual
practices. Joni's books should be required reading at all massage therapy schools!

Whilst teaching Level 3 VTCT Aromatherapy; this book was an essential reference guide; providing many opportunities for creating
appealing and informative lessons. I recommended this book to my students; and many of them who purchased this book found
it invaluable for their studies. It is a methodical and extensive book that covers all aspects of Aromatherapy theoretical
knowledge; and the illustrations are exceptionally detailed and specific. I am a particular fan of providing students with
mini tests at the end of their lessons. This helps consolidate learning and provides useful feedback to the teacher. This
book helps both students and Lecturers tremendously in this respect.

If you have ever had the privilege of being under the most competent, capable and knowing hands of Ingrid Martin, you would
not question her ability to write any book about massage. But when you add in her aromatic prowess and blending skills, you
will understand why no one is more qualified to write a true practicum for the massage therapist who wishes to really practice
aromatherapy.
Ms. Martin's writing style is sprightly and steady. As a practicing aromatic consultant myself for more than a decade, I could only reflect that I wish I had had the book when I was staring out. She knows her oils, and the monographs are good. Anyone who wants to learn can use this book, and profit.
As an experienced aromatic professional, I am thoroughly impressed. Don't hesitate. BUY THIS BOOK AND USE IT. Your clients will thank you for it.

Whilst teaching Level 3 VTCT Aromatherapy; this book was an essential reference guide; providing many opportunities for creating
appealing and informative lessons. This book is aimed at the Beauty Therapist rather than the Aromatherapist; and it does
a terrific job in uniting the fields of Aromatherapy and Beauty Therapy. A unique feature of this book is its incorporation
of facial treatments. I recommended this book to my students; and many of them who purchased this book found it invaluable
for their studies. It is an extensive book that covers all aspects of Aromatherapy theoretical knowledge for the Beauty Therapy
industry with an expansive number of full colour photographs that also enhance learning.

WaveLengths Natural Health had this to say about "Aromatherapy for the Emotions";
"Kylie Thompson writes a book about using aromatherapy for emotions that is personal and conversational. She introduces her background and experiences with aromatherapy, and it is clear from the first page that the author is quite intuitive and very heartfelt.
Aromatherapy for the Emotions highlights ways to use aromatherapy to help break emotional cycles and shift focus away from negative patterns..........Also included is a very interesting chapter on aromatherapy, the chakras, and the emotions. Thompson identifies oils according to a perfume note scale that she devised, and suggests specific essential oils for several different chakras, based on this scale. She also gives instructions for "chakra massage," either to stimulate or relax the chakra energy."
