General Content: Andrew Weil's approach to health is sensible and well-grounded. Taking Care of Yourself encompasses a number
of related areas including diet and nutrition, exercise and stress reduction. It's one of the best books related to health
that I have listened to. Weil promotes "integrative medicine" which is a belief that the best prescription for good health
is probably a combination of traditional medicine and alternative medicine. Furthermore, he touts the benefits of preventative
medicine through nutrition and regular exercise, something that need emphasizing in the Western world.
If you're looking for a book that will provide a common sense approach to living a healthier life, you'll definitely want to listen to this one. In addition, I would also recommend Weil's book Eating Well for Optimum Health. Listening to those two would definitely put you on a solid track.
Audio-Specific Content: I listened to the unabridged (4 hours and 12 minutes in length) version of this title. It is read by the author who does an excellent job. Overall, the sound and narration quality was excellent. The only caveat here is that the material on diet and nutrition is identical to that in the title The Beginner's Guide to Healthy Eating. Therefore, if you've already listened to that (as I had) you'll find that information redundant.

This book gave me hope that I could stop being a victim to MS. He supports his research well, writes clearly and convincingly.
The only trouble is I don't know whether my ms was going to be fairly benign anyway or it has become so by following his recommendations.
Either way -I don't care! He has given me the facts and optimism for the future. I think this book should be read by everyone
who has the disease or has a family member with it. I haven't read anything nearly as useful as this book. I fully recommend
it.

The Tao of Reiki is both a thoroughly enjoyable read, informative and believable! It includes detailed descriptions of initiations
in the various Reiki styles and levels (including symbols) and a suprising story about how Dr. Usui's reiki manuscripts were
recently discovered. This book reveals the buddhist origins of reiki. Fantastic exerpts from Dr. Usui's diary describing his
adventures while developing usage of Reiki, you really get a feel of the kind of guy he was! Basically, the most intelligent,
useful and believable book on Reiki that I have read.

This book is a must for all reiki practitioners. It gives an invaluable informations about origin of Reiki and true story
of dr.Mikao Usui and his followers and how to use healing energies of Reiki. My recommendation is to read this book after
you have had initiation to a 2nd degree because it is better to develop your own intuitive based relationship with Reiki and
then extended it with other thoughts and technics. There is no boundaries so you have to be open-minded and listen to your
intuition.

This book is really great, straight and true Ayurveda with no "extra stuff" and all the knowledge Dr. Lad generally packs
into his books. They are also easy to read which makes learning Ayurveda easier.

I was introduced to this book by an advanced practioner and had a feeling it would be good. Well it is better than good and
clarifies a lot of fine points that are so important to a Thai therapist. Although it is really helpful for someone with
formal training it is so well written and complete it is a very valuable resource for any person on a mission to become a
Thai Massage Therapist. I would say this book is a must have!
The workbook is blank verbally (same pics as the Encyclopedia)!!!!!!!!!!!! so you must have the Encyclopedia to go along with it.

It the spirit of his other book, "Dancing Healers," Dr. Hammerschlag puts together a collection of stories of healing. His
insightful approach to using ritual along with "Western Medicine," helps us explore ourselves, our lives and our place in
the world. This book should be on every bookshelf in every home. The renewed sense of spirituality and hope the reader obtains
through reading this cannot be measured. Truly inspirational reading. Dr. H is a master storyteller.

this book, although a little technical, shows what happens in injured lower backs and then proceeds to describe a proven strategy
to heal lower backs. I was amazed at the information presented in this book... I thought I knew everything there is to know
about backs, having been an athlete all my life and having been a somatic therapist & Yoga teacher for the past 20 years.
Well I learned a lot more and I even applied the material to my own back with great results with very little work... I also
feel a lot more confident about teaching my clients how to take care of their backs...

I spent years reading these guys research, and in this book, they have put it all together in one handy volume. The book cites
a lot of studies from the academic research and does get technical. In fact, I know some physical therapists that have gotten
lost reading it! Therefore, potential buyers should know that the book is mainly for people who are in the medical profession
that specialize in spine problems.
As a treatment for spinal problems, spinal stabilization exercise is a solid, evidence-based treatment and quite effective. Also recommemd Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff for both laypeople and medical folk alike- strengthening the rotator cuff does for the shoulder what strengthening the multifidus does for the spine.

Dolores Krieger takes several steps forward in this book. She shares transpersonal aspects of healing that take TT beyond
the mechanistic bioenergy model of simply assessing bioenergy fields that reflect physical and psychological problems, and
adjusting bioenergy states through healer intent. Yet Krieger firmly grounds the transpersonal in theory and experiential
explorations, with a strong focus on teaching in a responsible way.
Krieger presents lists of descriptors for various aspects of the TT experience that are helpful in dissecting and analyzing TT, but most of all - in appreciating its multi-faceted, multi-layered potentials for bringing the TT therapist (Krieger uses this term instead of healer) through bioenergy interactions into ever greater awarenesses of the transpersonal dimensions of healing.
Discussions of the chakras (major bioenergy centers along the midline of the body) emphasize their transpersonal resonations with the cosmos, in addition to their regulation of localized body functions. Krieger strongly advises that a person should be helped to regulate her own chakras and that these centers should not be treated by the TT therapist. (In this, she differs substantively from practices common to many other healing approaches.)
Krieger has several earlier books on TT. This one takes the reader more deeply into the need to focus on the personal and spiritual development of the healer.
The reviewer found this book more focused on transpersonal issues than Krieger's earlier ones and warmly recommends it to anyone wanting to learn about Therapeutic Touch.

Goodson delivers an excellent, unbiased review of the role that nudity plays in our lives. She refutes the widely held beliefs,
and sheds some light on why people chose nudity. Unlike Dr. Joyce Brothers comments about nudity, Goodson's statements are
based on research. Even the mental health community in the U.S. fears tackling the subject due to American religious taboos,
but Goodson, in a well written manner, exposes our true reactions to nudity from ancient times, in developing cultures,
and in the modern era. For example, what constitutes nudity, driving embarrassment, differs by culture. She also shows the
role that nudity plays in therapeutic healing, and maintaining a joyous perspective. This book is a very good read, and
a must for anyone curious about legitimate reactions under the clothing. But be careful, you may find yourself seeking a
naturist/nudist resort after reading this book.

Is it really all in your head? "Thinking Your Way to Better Health: How to Use the Mind-Body Connection for Health and Self-Healing"
is a look at the mind and body connection and how it can help the human body heal. Examining why we get sick and how we overcome
it naturally, Dr. Andrew Goliszek is suggesting nothing radical or extreme - just simply motivating one's body to do what
needs to be done, so that one can be back on his feet faster and without an ailment. "Thinking Your Way to Better Health"
is a fine and much needed acquisition to anyone who agrees with the proverb 'Mind over Body'.

Finally, a guide that actually teaches readers, through examples, exercises, charts, quizzes, and self-help techniques, how
to use their mind-body connection to prevent disease and live longer. There are too many books out there filled with information
about what the mind-body connection is and how it's linked to health. But here's one that clearly explains exactly how to
use mind power and brain conditioning to prevent everything from depression to cancer. Reading it makes you realize how easy
it really is. Highly recommended for anyone experiencing stress, mental health issues, or physical health problems.
