I have not read this book but I have been using tea tree oil for several years. It has so many uses, that a written guide is a great idea. It is a natural, safe insect repellent and also soothes the itching & burning from mosquito bites. I have rubbed the oil on my grandson's legs at bedtime to prevent mosquito bites. It is also a solvent and can be used in cleaning products, as well as in shampoo and soap. It is beneficial to dogs because it helps repel fleas & relieve the itchiness from bites. Tea tree oil can remove paints and even permanent marker. I really recommend it, and getting the book would probably be wise, especially if you've never used tea tree oil.

An absolute must for the new millenium - ultimate healer!

I HAVE JUST COMPLETED READING CYNTHIA OLSEN'S NEWEST BEQUEST TO THE WORLD POPULATION. THE TITLE IN ITSELF TELLS IT ALL, WHAT A GIFT TO THOSE OF US WHO WISH TO TREAT OUR GENERAL AILMENTS TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILIITY WITHOUT HAVING TO REVERT TO CONVENTIONAL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS AND PRACTICES. IT IS NOT MEANT TO TAKE THE PLACE OF THESE CONVENTIONAL MEDICINES, BUT TO BE USED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT IF WE CANNOT REMEDY OUR AILMENTS "NATURALLY" THEN WE SHALL GO THAT "CONVENTIONAL ROUTE IF NEED BE. UNTIL THEN, OUR "FIRST AID KIT IN A BOTTLE" - AUSTRALIAN TEA TREE OIL SHALL DO ITS ASTOUNDING HEALING.

I AM ASTHMATIC ANDI DO USE THOSE "CONVENTIONAL" MEDICINES WHEN NECESSARY, BUT THERE ARE MANY TIMES WHEN I HAVE FOUND THAT TEA TREE EASES THE PRESSURE THAT COMES WITH DIFFICULT BREATHING - BY JUST PUTTING A FEW DROPS OF TEA TREE IN A BASIN OF WARM WATER AND DRAPING A TOWEL OVER MY HEAD AND BREATHING THE AROMATIC TEA TREE DEEPLY IN AND OUT, I GET GREAT RELIEF. I HAVE ALSO USED THE REMEDIES FOR EARACHES, SORE THROATS AND COUGHS DUE TO RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS. I REPSECT MS. OLSEN'S ADVICE AS TO WHEN TO CONSULT A PHYSICIAN AND I HAVE IN NO WAY LET MY GREAT ADORATION FOR THE TEA TREE HEALING POWERS CLOUD LOGICAL JUDGMENT IN TREATING MY FAMILIES AILMENTS.

THIS LITTLE BOOK IS TRULY ONE THAT EVERY HOME SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR SO CALLED "MEDICINE CHEST" TO BE USED AS THE LISTED SITUATIONS ARISE AND BE VALUED HIGHLY BY EACH AND EVERY BEING AS A NATURAL CURE BEFORE RUNNING OUT IN SEARCH OF OVER THE COUNTER OR PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION. IT IS TRULY REMARKABLE HOW ONE LITTLE BOTTLE CAN CONTAIN SUCH UNIQUE AND HEALING QUALITIES, I SAY BRAVO TO MS. OLSEN AND SUSAN TINKLE IN PUTTING TOGETHER A GREAT LITTLE BOOK, ONE THAT WE CAN REFER TO WHENEVER NEEDED AND ALSO ONE THAT WE CAN BE SURE WILL GIVE US THE INSIGHT TO HELP OURSELVES ON THE ROAD TO HEALING. THANK YOU LADIES FOR A GREAT GIFT!

Why Five Stars Arent Enough

Eureka! I have found it! This is one health book that is OFF THE SCALE GREAT! There are a lot of health books available these days that I find interesting. But this is one of those very rare books that seems to have been written by Nature itself. (How appropriate the title: Awakening Nature's Healing Intelligence). It is, as if, modern scripture. Like the petals of a flower which blossom in perfect sequence, so does the profound knowledge contained in this book unfold.

Dr. Hari Sharma, M.D. seems to be eminently qualified to write such a book. He is chairman emeritus at Ohio State University's College of Medicine and Public Health. A native of India, the origin of Ayurveda-- the world's oldest comprehensive system of natural medicine-- he has studied with the great sage Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who, along with India's foremost Ayurvedic physicians has refined and expanded Ayurveda into a very potent medical system-the Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health. Sharma's book describes this system and its underlying theory, as well as the impressive scientific research on its various modalities.

Sharma dives deep into the field of knowledge. Because he goes all the way, there are some passages through which I had to go slowly. But the effort was extremely gratifying. Otherwise, the pace was perfect-the petals of knowledge just unfolding sentence after amazing sentence. He seamlessly weaves in and out of the most advanced theories of quantum physics, empirical scientific findings and ancient Vedic wisdom.

Because he goes so deeply into the field of pure knowledge, Sharma makes it apparent what is achingly missing from the current Western medical approach. The many shortcomings of modern health care must stem from the lack of total knowledge of the ultimate reality of life. And that total knowledge is lucidly, and I would say historically presented in this book. During most of the reading of this book I had the strong desire for all medical doctors and health practitioners to be required to read it!
Dr. Sharma systematically takes the reader from the field of fragmented, partial knowledge that has plagued mankind for thousands of years, to enlightenment-the pinnacle of human evolution. He shows that this is the state of real health and well-being. All standards of health and approaches to it must be based on this complete view of human potentialities.

So this book is not just for health care providers. I feel that anyone who is a seeker of wisdom will revel in this book. If you really want to have the inside track on a most profound approach to health, you will love this book. While not a `how-to' book, it offers a list of expert resources one can seek out to pursue this path. And if you are even a bit as inspired as I am after reading this book, you will want to do just that.

Indispensable guide for using Bach Remedies with your pets

As a caretaker of six cats and a dog, I have used Bach Remedies for years with my animals but I've always had to refer to books focusing on the use of the remedies with humans. This book has come to my rescue and I especially like that there are separate chapters on cats and dogs. There is also a separate chapter on use of the remedies wih horses.

The best feature of the book is the second chapter "Using the remedies" where the authors spell out the animal behaviors that can indicate a need for each of the 38 remedies. For example, Crab Apple is the remedy for cleansing and is indicated for a animal who does excessive grooming or chews on its fur or feathers.

The only negative aspect for me, as an American, is the very British slant in the resources lists and in the case studies. However, that is a small complaint in the overall usefulness of this title.

I have always had my homeopathic remedies made by a pharmacy and was skeptical of remedies that could be purchased at a store. Well, when all else failed to work for me, I decided to try the Bach remedies and they worked! From there, I branched out into treating our cat and also my children.

This book is easy to understand and use. As most Flower Remedy books do, it starts with a short introduction. From there, it goes on to list the remedies alphabetically and to explain which sort of child would benefit. In a style that reminded me of Waldorf School educators, the author also included a short story to be told to the child related to their personality type. Very interesting.

At the end, there is a chart listing the remedies and the conditions each one can treat. This is a very useful reference. This chart differs from the chapters because it also lists physical problems, as well as emotional personality. For example, I looked under pimples for my daughter. Of course, Bach thought that physical problems all had emotional or psychological roots to begin with.

This is a book that I will consult over and over again. It is very well done.

This book has great organization which groups remedies into categories with similar properties. It teaches, quizes, reviews and provides a wonderful enthusiasm for learning more about the Bach flower essences. I have read many books on the topic and this one is one of the best for anyone who is a serious student of these wonderful life tools.

I work professionally with Bach Flower Essences, so I keep up to date with all the books that are published. I've just finished going through the Bach Remedies Workbook and I'm bowled over by it. It's a really fresh approach. Most writers just list what each remedy is for, but Ball makes every essence come alive by making you think about it and helping you see its relevance to your own life. This is a book all about empowerment, and comes highly recommended, not least by the Bach Centre which has (according to a friend of mine) made it the main text for its distance learning course.

There is no end to new age rhetoric. Metaphysics come and go like fashions for the forebrain. So it is with relief that Maruti Seidman makes sense of the subtle body in this accessible book. I ought to know -- I was his midwife for the birth of his first baby in 1980 or so. He was grounded even then and this book brings out my jubilant heart to this day!

This is one of the best books I've read. It contains information about everything from what to eat to the different vibrations that you need to become balanced. It includes information about astrology that is easy reading. It made me say "oh, now I get it"! I've used the information from the book in the classroom and for myself personally. It is one of the few books that I rarely lend. I highly recommed it for any age group.

I love alternative medicine classics - books that are uniquely authoritative and crammed with information. I use this book constantly. There is simply no other source of herbal information which is so comprehensive. It must have taken a lifetime to write. This book is also holistic and does not bow to science at the expense of leaving out valuable traditional information.

This book looks very professionally done, but the content is less than adequate. There are location mistakes on the diagrams, and the information on the individual points is too condensed for any real practical use.

This book is excellent, which makes me wonder what the heck the last reviewer was thinking. This book doesn't have point location errors...I am a certified acupuncturist and I can assure you this book is not only accurate, but Bruce Pomeranz uses Western methods to validate the use of acupuncture in the mainstream. Many people don't like his "anatomical" method of relating the acu-points, but for Western trained health care professionals, it is much easier to integrate into practice, sell to patients and to explain using science than the traditional Chinese medicine. Let's face it, the Chinese knew what they were talking about 2000 years ago (or more!) but they explained it in a way that made sense to them. Well, we're a bit more scientific now and explaining the results we get with a bit of science may offend some, but it is progress because we are integrating old style wisdom with new understandings.

An intriguing, interesting approach to disease management and health issues
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-11-14
Biogenealogy is a new vision of health that takes the usual mind-body connection idea step further, addressing emotional shocks that lead to physical disorders. Illness symptoms pair with analysis of body reactions in a survey of major body organs and conditions and types of emotional conflicts that stress these areas. While new age libraries will likely be the first to try it, many a general interest lending library or health collection will find it an intriguing, interesting approach to disease management and health issues.

Highly recommended

The biogenealogy sourcebook is an excellent reference based on Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer's discoveries of how psychological conflict leads to illness. It also includes the work of Dr. Claude Sabbah who has improved and expanded on Dr. Hamer's disoveries.

The book is very useful and detailed giving suggestions on what conflict may be causing an illness. Resolve the conflict and cure the illness.

I have personally used information in this book to help patients go into spontaneous remission for cancer and other chronic "incurable" diseases.

I would personally like more case studies, however it gives you a good direction to explore conflicts to bring about resolution from the illness.

This book contains both a pastoral/religious and a physician's view on a variety of topics relating to mental and physical health. This book is nondenominational and will inspire everyone.

It is quick and easy to read. It's the type of book that you can read front to back or skip to various chapters. It features true, "REAL" stories of real people going through very recognizable issues. I found it very easy to relate to most of the people in the book, which made it easy to take the lessons and apply it to my own life.
