I loved this audio cassette tape set! But by no means is it flawless. In fact, the recording mix is poor. The volume levels are inconsistent (in part due to Mitchell May's unique way of presenting his lecture) and need to be adjusted in spots. You may also have to replay the tapes in those areas to catch May's remarks in their entirety. Furthermore, May often diverges from his theme of "HEALING, LIVING and BEING" with humorous though unnecessary anecdotes. And please note well: these tapes are not for the squemish or those with weak stomachs. May suffered through a horrible accident 25 years ago that nearly took his life, and he discusses his injuries and the ensuing medical interventions in graphic detail.

With all that said, just who is Mitchell May and why do I recommend this two-tape set so highly? To answer the first question, Mitchell May is a healer, who, by his own admission, has never healed anyone, but by helping his clients to be present, he has allowed life to do the healing. Although I had never heard of May before, I would seek his advice above any of the current gurus of healing, and this includes some well-known names such as Chopra and Weil.

Actually these tapes have less to do with physical healing than they do with healing one's consciousness. But what May has to say should be heard by anyone who believes they are on a journey, healthy or otherwise. These tapes are for those of us who, like May, believe that consciousness and not the material world is the fundamental resource of life. For many, one's path of awakening actually restricts consciousness. Those, who follow many popular gurus and insist they are not part of a cult but yet follow a strict regimen of how they have to think, how they have to pray, how they have to breathe or how they have to do this and not do that, need to hear these tapes. May insists, and I certainly agree, that these people have come full circle back to the same restrictive confines they were hoping to escape. They have thrown aside the dogmas of traditional religions only to become entrapped in puritanical lifestyles of their own creation. In other words, if you are following a belief system that insists it has all the answers, if you are dogmatically concerned about sleeping with your head to the north every night or making certain your chakras are correctly aligned each morning or eating a perfectly macrobiotic diet each and every day, then you need these tapes.

May's point here, and it is a crucial one that most New Age gurus ignore, is that the best space in life to be in is where you are not afraid to honestly admit: "I just don't know what to do." Why? Eventually, if you believe that you are made in the image and likeness of God, then this space will lead you to the realization that all you will ever need is within you, and it is this realization that will heal you. You need not look anywhere else.

Does this mean that May recommends avoiding all gurus and their methodolgies? Not at all. But May does draw a distinction between a religious experience and a spiritual one. A religious experience is based on someone else's experience and what your are supposed to do to achieve it. A spiritual experience is one you directly experience for yourself. You can use the methodologies of others to have your own direct experience, to discover for yourself how big life is. If not, move on! Don't stop at some convenient space or point where you finally get some small piece of life to work. "Life is so much bigger." Thank you, Mitchell.

One of the best series on healing ever.

"Herbal Tonic Therapies" is an incredible book. Easy to read, informative, and practical, Daniel B. Mowrey's book is a must-read for those of us who want to take charge of our own health and to do so in an effective, safe way. After identifying and describing the major body systems, Mowrey identifies and discusses the mostly scientifically proven, preventative and curative effects and properties of major tonic herbs on those body systems. If you are suffering from a malady, even a severe one, this is an excellent, inexpensive way to seek alternative solutions.

This book provided an "ah-hah" for me in theorizing mechanisms for tonic effects and in describing research on the paradoxical ability of certain herbs to achieve different reactions depending on the patient's needs. Faithfully recounts the studies (even details on study design to help one evaluate results) done, mostly in Europe, on the herbs reviewed. Very useful. Linda Larkey, Ph.D. (no, my degree is not in a medical field, but I've been reading about and using herbs for 20 years).

A must for any personal Herbal Libirary!

Herbal Tonic Therapies by Daniel B. Mowrey, Ph.D. is a comprehensive guide to the use of whole herbs which includes folk use, clinical studies, chemical composition, safety data and references for each herb listed. The author cites European clinical studies as most of the sources.

The purpose of this book is to provide the reader with information on tonic herbs and how they are used. This is written for the lay person as well as the practitioner.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in herbs, whether they were using the book for self-help, or studying Herbalism.

This is an essential book for Hep C. I have used the herbal protocol for 8 months and brought my viral load down to 69,000 and it is still dropping. Before I read this book, I had almost convinced myself that traditional treatment was the only way, even with its horrible side effects. Now, I am so glad that I found this book, contacted Dry Creek Herb Farm (referenced in the book) and started my daily herb treatments. The only side effect of the herb is that they don't taste very good, but with the results I have had they are starting to taste pretty good. The cost is very affordable also. Thank you Stephen Harrod Buhrner and Dry Creek Herb Farm.

It offers hope for those with hepatitis c with a look at the most important herbs, supplements, and foods to heal hep c. The clinical trial research supporting these herbs is incredible. Buhner is a great writer and shows tremendous control of his subject. If you or a loved one suffers from this disease you can't afford not to buy this book. It can save your life. Highly recommended!

In the past five years herbal remedies have led natural products in the health care market, but consumers are asking new questions about the safety and effectiveness of these unregulated substances. Researchers and psychiatrists examine herbs related to mental health, telling how to assess common herbs for effectiveness, side effects, and lasting impact.

This book changed my attitude about herbal remedies!

I have sought advice from time to time for depression, anxiety, and sleep problems, but I've never considered "alternative medicine." But I took a look at Herbs for the Mind and started reading first about St. John's wort for depression. I learned things I didn't know about depression, and I learned how and why to try this herbal remedy. The whole book, then, was of interest to me and I have enjoyed reading the history of herbal remedies and all the details of the various studies that tell us what and when herbs are useful. Everyone I mention this book to wants it! I'm really glad I found it, and I'm really glad these two psychiatrists from Duke University decided to step out of the laboratory and write it.

A must have!

Herbs for the Mind is an excellent, easy to read guide for navigating what is often a confusing path - that of successfully using alternative treatments for mental health problems. What to take? How much? What are the differences in brands? Such questions, and many more are answered clearly and concisely in Herbs for the Mind.

It is refreshing to learn about herbal remedies in a straighforward and scientifically-based manner. Drs. Davidson and Connor have truly done us a great service with their book. Anyone, from savvy consumers to mental health practitioners, can benefit greatly from the information in Herbs for the Mind. I have already used it, personally and professionally, with success. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in mental health!

This book is set up into lessons, one for each letter of the alphabet. It goes over the natural remedies for many illnesses and health issues, including item, recommended dosage and how to prepare it. When you're done with the lessons, you can use it as a huge alphabetical reference guide. This book packs a lot of information in an easy-to-use format.

This guide works for both those new to studying herbs and those who would like a solid reference book. It is laid out in alphabetical lessons that can later serve as a quick reference index. The author actually goes beyond the herbs themselves to discuss illnesses and ailments that can be treated with natural remedies. The book makes it easy to get started studying a sometimes overwhelming topic!

I thought I would just get an overview, but the book is easy to understand, and the review questions are terrific for making sure you retain what you've read! I was so impressed that I lent the book to a friend who knows a lot about natural healing. She ended up buying a copy for herself! I'm not kidding. It's really that good.

Jiaogulan, China's Immortality Herb, is full of information about this new herb (new in the West anyway). I picked it up because I have high blood pressure, and this herb is known to normalize blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and help with general heart health. The evidence of the herb's efficacy in treating many health problems is impressive! And it's all backed up with scientific studies. I have to admit, I ended up buying the herb and using it, and it has helped me lower my blood pressure without taking any heavy drugs. What a relief! Read this book if you are at all interested in improving your heart health!

In China and Japan, jiaogulan is also prescribed by herbalists for the treatment of obesity. Having become somewhat overweight myself, I was delighted to find that over a period of one year, and with the help of a lot of fruit and vegetables and a lot of walking, I was able to lose 18 kilograms.

I received this book as a gift and began drinking Jiaogulan Tea at about the same time I started reading the book. My personal results has been positive from both items. I was amazed at how the topic was so thoroughly researched in so many countries. I have to say that this book really brought attention to the idea that there may be lots of remedies for healing from the Eastern world that may never make it into Western countries. If one herb has been so completely researched in China, Japan, and the USA, it seems like it should be made available to people in all countries. Thank you M. Blumert and Dr. J. Liu for a great and meticulous job on the assembly of such important research results available about Jiaogulan.

This book expains how emotions -in the Western sense - reflect energetic balance/imbalance -in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Theory and meridians. Innovative graphics illustrate the complex dynamics. Numerous clinical examples are provided, couched in the beautiful and mystical poetry of Chinese Medicine and Philosophy, against a background of clinical western psychology. An absolutely essential volume for anyone, not weaned on these metaphors, but interested in holistic treatment, at any level. Beatifully written, deserves to be read and re-read.

Human understanding of the connection between emotion and physical health remains elusive in Western Medicine. This provocative Eastern view gives us hope that reintegration of our selves after traumatic moments and the transformation of "negative" feelings is literally at our finger tips.
This book is one of the deepest explorations into the energy of healing and remains a much worn friend in my healing library.
A must have book for healing touch practitioners from all traditions. A must read for all of us who hope to heal ourselves.

To call a book a Bible implies a certain authority on its subject matter. It certainly was a leap of faith to buy this book without being able to look inside, and based on only two reviews.

My father always told me that a sign of a good book is an index. When it arrived, to my initial dismay, it had no index or a contents page. Leafing through it my momentary dismay turned to joy as I noted the contents were indexed alphabetically.

I looked up every different pattern I could think of. In the process, I discovered, and you may discover too, patterns used not only by Erickson, but also Bandler, Derren Brown, Tad James, Steven Lankton, Ernest Rossi and other luminaries. In addition, a plethora of other nlp patterns one could use in coaching, or hypnotherapy.

If you're like me, its not necessarily a book you'd read through cover to cover. You might think, reverse yes set, or confusion pattern, or negation, or embedded commands, or reverse double bind, hypnotic questions, or reverse set double bind and then look it up. Alternatively, you might leaf through and see what catches your attention, like a dictionary. I racked my brain, and could not think of any type of pattern that was not in the book.

When you look up these patterns you will usually find the pattern structure described followed by numerous examples. You can then use them or develop your own patterns for use in different contexts.

A couple of patterns were not explained, just examples given.

So, this book is a valuable resource which I am pleased to own, and I look forward to practising the thousands of patterns contained on its 670 pages. I commend it to you for your consideration.

This book represents the most comprehensive, in-depth and exhaustive work in the hypnotic language field. It is easy to read and understand and fills you with many "oh..yeah.." moments. The hypnotherapist who does not own a copy of the hypnotic language pattern Bible by Kerin Webb is going to lag behind those of us that do! I wish I had this book years ago!

The layers of harmony, space, and sound combine to leave the listener searching within and in a state of reconnected peace. All music should be this good. Track #5 bija mantras, if listened to while watching the rising sun in the morning will give you a feeling of understanding, awe, and peace. All the tracks leave me speechless and are great for meditation, yoga, relaxation, massage and reconnecting the soul to the divine. A true must have CD.

I am admittedly a huge fan of Jai Uttal and Ben Leinbach - I have quite a few of their cd's and enjoy using them in yoga classes or when I want to chill out. So, of course, I was excited with this new offering.

It did not disappoint - this inviting collection of songs is soothing to the spirit and uplifting for the soul. Gentle, lilting chants coupled with lush, ambient slow-trance grooves provides a welcome escape from everyday life. "Gopala Lullaby" and "Bija Mantras" were my two favorites on the cd - the first song showcases Uttal's beautiful voice and the second song is almost hypnotic - making it one of my new favorites for meditation. I have enjoyed using this CD in my yoga classes and am sure it will be one of the classic favorites for myself and many other fans of this duo's work. Simply divine!
