Hobbs brings forth great information that is not available elsewhere in English. Just the information about Schizopyllum commune and PSK is worth the price of the book. After reading this book, I no longer pass the medicinal mushrooms by on my forays.

Hayashi Reiki Manual: Traditional Japanese Healing Techniques

Definitely a must-have for each Reiki Practitioner

While many different books already contain translations of Hayashi's Ryoho Shishin (treatment methods guidebook), this is a great resource that goes above and beyond the others. Co-written by two wonderful authors and teachers, Frank Arjava Petter and Yamaguchi Tadao, this manual contains much historical information and historic photos of Hayashi-sensei and other teachers in his lineage.

Yamaguchi-san's family has practiced Reiki in Japan since learning it directly from Hayashi himself, and much insight is given on the historical development of Reiki within Japan. There are copies of original documents in Hayashi's handwriting, and a complete translation of his manual.

Unlike other translations of Hayashi's Ryoho shishin, this edition contains full-colour photographs to illustrate all of the hand positions and Reiki techniques such as ketsueki kokan ho (blood exchange method; a means of improving circulation both on an energetic and physical level) and a technique for reviving unconscious clients.

This is a richly illustrated text that each Reiki practitioner will value for the number of reccomended treatments for dozens of ailments. It is a quick and to-the-point guidebook that really works.

Master Petter has done it again. Given us a succinct manual that touches on history, techniques and a plethora of important detailed photographs to aid us in our practice.

I recommend this book along with his Usui Manual, The Spirit of Reiki, The Japanese Art of Reiki and Quantum Touch as the most important books any Reiki Practitioner/Master Teachers should have.

(I mention the Quantum Touch as it adds an added connection that really gives a boosted connection to Reiki healing)

I am a new Reiki Master/T myself however I realise this is a continuous journey of BEing Reiki.

Bless yourself by adding this to your ReiKi Library.

This book gives very specific Reiki treatments for different ailments used by one of the most prominent Reiki healers. I've been doing the Weight Loss (Diabetic) treatment on myself. So far it has had the curious effect of stabalizing my emotions when I work on the pancrease. This book will not work for you unless you have had the Reiki transmissions, but it is very easy to use if you have had some training.

I've been a massage therapist and healer for 13 years. I now require each potential client to read this book and Music and Song, Mother and Love, both by John Diamond. I often recommend other books along the way, but these two books set the tone for all of the work we do together. Together with Facets of a Diamond: Reflections of a Healer, these books should be required reading for all healers and those who really want to support their own healing.

This book inspired me to have a new attitude toward my home -- and my life! It is written in a mix of prose and lovely poetry -- both of which are full of heart-warming thoughts. I also like the use of word origins to illuminate these thoughts.

In this personal and engaging book, Dr. Diamond considers the many elements that combine to produce an effective and long-lasting therapeutic relationship. Drawing on his own extensive experience as a holistic healer, Dr. Diamond discusses the role of the healer and that of the sufferer. He also looks in detail at setting up the best environment in which healing can take place.

I find Dr. Diamond's emphasis on the importance of a holistic approach to healing most valuable, and I welcome the philosophical context in which this book places that concept.

The mystery of life

Larry Dossey discusses the mystery of life and how consciousness is related to all of the physical things in the world. He does a superb job in explaining the wonders of the soul. Although is work is always inspiring, this book is especially so. It tells us that everything including consciousness is connected in a convincing way. For another astonishing book with a slightly different take on the subject, I'd highly recommend "The Ever-Transcending Spirit" by Toru Sato. It is also a tremendously insightful book!

Wise, compassionate look at consciousness & healing

Larry Dossey is a prolofic writer and researcher on holistic healing, and in this book he assembles a number of articles and essays in support of a cohesive concept. Dossey invites the reader to explore the power of consciousness for healing transformation. The different sections in the book sometimes refer to scientific theories and research, some of which would usually be considered in the realm of parapsychology, such as remote influencing, healing with prayer, non-local telepathic communication, etc. However, the focus is more on how these concepts can be applied in our lives to bring about healing. Dossey helps us peer beyond the veil of illusion we call "reality" to help us connect with the source of our being and the power of mind/consciousness to transform. Having practiced mind-body/enegy medicine approaches such as hypnosis, reiki, and neuromodulation technique, I have experienced the power of the non-local consciousness to create healing shifts in a manner that would appear magical or unbelievable to those convinced of the solid, objective nature of perceived reality. It is much easier to "bend spoons" when one lets go of the illusion that there is any objective spoon in the first place! Enjoy this book and begin to put into practice the ideas and methods that unlock the power of consciousness.

NEW DEFINITION OF CONCIOUSNESS

This collection of essays examines how thoughts and emotions affect our bodies and the bodies of others at a distance. It is an insightful look at the relationship between science and "unscientific" topics like prayer, love, laughter, work, creativity, dreams and more, an examination of consciousness and spirituality in medicine. Everybody knows that something vital is missing in modern allopathic medicine - the role of the human mind. The author points out the deep level of ignorance within science about the origin, function and destiny of human consciousness. But at last we are moving toward a vision of consciousness that liberates the mind from its identification with the physical brain and body. Of course, the implications for medicine are vast. He refers to the ideas of Jung, Ken Wilber, Erwin Schrödinger, David Bohm and Rupert Sheldrake and makes a valid case for the fact that our power to heal and be healed extends beyond our physical bodes. The essays fall into the three categories Meaning, Mind and Nonlocality, and the book concludes with a bibliography, a section on sources and an index. This is a classic and I recommend it to all who are interested in holistic or spiritual healing and those want to take responsibility for their own health.

The Healing Energies of Light

outstanding

This wonderful little book is one of a series. They are written by different authors and each one is a different element subject.

They each are easy to read but a treasure trove of information that you will refer to again and again. The chapters are; the glory of light, sacred light, light cycles and life cycles, the nature of light, the power of sunlight and healing with light.

The bibliography is extensive and there is a references and resources chapter also. In the chapter of light cycles and life cycles it explains the effect the cycles of the moon have on the earth and human bodies;

The moon is full when it is on the side of the Earth farther from the Sun. At that time the Moon comes closest to Earth, drawn inwards by the Earth's gravitational force. In turn, the Moon exerts an influence on the ionosphere, pushing the delicate mantle slightly out of its encircling hand around the Earth's atmosphere, and towards the Earth's surface. The ionosphere, as its name implies, is a layer of charged air and particles that envelops the Earth 120 km or so up. the underside of the ionosphere is positively charged. the ionosphere's positive ions mix with those ions near the negatively charged Earth's surface. The mix of the two is thereby altered, becoming more positive. We breathe in the changed mixture, which enters our bloodstream. This physical change now has a physiological effect. Our blood cells are normally negatively charged, as are the walls of our arteries and veins, ensuring an easy flow as the similar charges repel each other. But when the mix turns more positive as a result of the Moon, the blood becomes "stickier", leading to poorer oxygenation and a resulting increase in psychological stress. At the time , the white blood cells, which are highly sensitive to electric charges, are also adversely affected. These positive ions also cause an overproduction of serotonin, a stress neuro-hormone and the opposing sister-molecule to melatonin, inhibiting one's ability to sleep. At the time of the new Moon, when the Moon is nearest the Sun, the ionosphere expands, lowering the number of positive ions at the Earth's surface. This encourages plant growth and improves circulation and vigor in animals.

These books are great.

Beautiful and Important

This is a beautifully illustrated and highly informative book.

The discovery of biophotons - the production and emission of light by biological systems - first by the Russian embryologist Alexander Gurwitsch in 1920, and more recently the work of Fritz-Albert Popp, have given more credence to the importance of light to the organism. Not just in terms of promoting photosynthesis or the Vitamin D cascade in the body, but perhaps as a fundemental organizing force. Unfortunately some of the fundamental science has been highjacked by some folk who believe that biophotons are another name for Qi or prana. Something that the scientists have never said.

Yet biophotons do seem to be a real phenomenon and some empirical work indicates that they are biologically important and provide a theoretical basis for much of the material presented in this book, which covers the whole spectrum of light and its healing effects.

It begins with a consideration of sacred light and moves to a discussion of light and life cycles, the whole science of light, the power of sunlight and finally various techniques for healing with light. There is little research evidence to back up the healing claims, but a great deal of experience garnered by practitioners.

Having watched the development of the field over the last couple of decades, and having tried some of the light-based therapies, I think it likely that light will soon become an important part of our therapeutic toolbox.

This is a handsome and thought-provoking book that will appeal to a many people, and certainly not just therapists.

This inspiring work explores both the physical and metaphysical properties of light and how to use light to improve one's emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.

Part One: The Glory Of Light, investigates sacred and spiritual light, the light of salvation, light in mythology and symbols of light. Part Two looks at light and life cycles, the daily rhythms of light, biorhythms, the pineal gland and the hormone melatonin.

Part Three: The Nature Of Light, deals with waves and particles, electrons, electromagnetism and rainbows, whilst Part Four: Healing With Light, explores syntotics, bioresonance, auras and light therapy, the power of infrared and photodynamic therapies.

Beautiful color photographs and illustrations enhance the text and the book concludes with a bibliography and a list of resources.

Flowers that heal

The introduction contains a brief history of Dr Bach and his discovery of the flower remedies, followed by sections on the preparation of the essences and information on the flowering periods.

The main body of the book is a detailed treatment of each of the 38 remedies, from Agrimony to Willow. Each entry has an affirmation and indication (what problems it is effective for) in Bach's own words. There are also full color photographs of the whole plant and the flower, plus black and white illustrations of these.

These entries also contain detailed discussions on why a specific flower heals a specific condition, and provide the locality, identification and information on the preparation of the essence. This excellent guide on Dr Bach's flower essences concludes with a bibliography.

I have personally found Dr Bach's and other flower essences to be helpful for a variety of conditions. This book is an asset to the literature on this gentle and non-intrusive healing modality. I highly recommend it.

This book is must for all flower essence practitioners and essence lovers. This collection covers all of the foundational information about flower essences in a easy and enjoyable manner. Martine and Julian Barnard, along with their own line of Flower Essences, Healing Herbs (the same 38 individual essences that Bach created), have brought the richness and power of Bach's quality work further out into the world.

Great in-sight and understanding to the magical healing world of Edward Bach's Flower Remedies.

the best on English flower essences

I have been using flower essences (and reading books on flower essences) for over a decade, and this book is my all time favorite. It helps me focus in on exactly the right essence for the occasion, even when I am a bit unsure on which one to chose. I think the reason for that is that the authors know the English flower essences so intimately and that it is as though they are lending you their years of focus and knowledge on a spiritual as well as an intellectual level. If you get the book, try holding it in your hands and asking for guidance on a particular problem, then open the book. Notice if reading about the essence that you open to provides you with deeper insight into the problem beyond what you might have had on your own. It has for me.

Thank you, Dr. Rob van Overbruggen! You have really done a great service for humanity with this phenomenal work. With the use of volumes of research by some of the most respected names in both psychological cancer treatment and overall MindBody healing studies you have catapulted the MindBody Connection premise by ions; and, by your comprehensive overview have given us in the field some much needed validation. This work is a guidebook, not only for therapists who are working to help cancer patients become active participants in their own healing journey, but also for the cancer patients themselves to study and do their own introspection and, consequently, make the changes within that may be called for. Everything is coming together now for all of us to begin to believe that the word Cancer is not synonomous with death. Healing Psyche is a must read for anyone who doubts the power of the mind to heal or the power of the body to heal itself when blocks to healing have been removed; and, it has come at the perfect time as people's minds are becoming more open to alternative and complementary therapies since Traditional Medicine does not, obviously, have all the answers. The bottom line is 'WE WANT TO LIVE'. Healing Psyche is about giving power back to cancer patients and about cooperation with Medical Staff so that the patient can benefit from the best efforts of a healing team. Anyone who has studied cancer treatment or has been involved with a loved one who has been diagnosed learns quite quickly that what is a cure for one person is not necessarily the answer for the next person. That is why cancer is so difficult to cure; it behaves differently in each person. Chemo, unfortunately, doesn't have the success rate of Penicillin. And that is mostly because germs are outside invaders and cancer is a reaction of the body to something within the MindBody itself. Healing Psyche provides a great deal of proof for that theory along with the processes that may be an aid to healing. It is a monumental thesis written in a way that makes it useable by the patient. I am very grateful for the dedication and expertise that went into this healing guide.

Mind/Body Therapy

Review Date: 2006-12-20
It is becoming more generally accepted, both in the medical community and in the general populace, that the connection between mind and body is such a close one that these two aspects of experience may truly be seen not as two separate entities but as two aspects of ONE phenomenon: the "whole" human being. One aspect is gross material, and the other non-material: body and mind respectively. If this premise is accepted, then it is certain that what goes on in the mind will affect the body, and vice-versa. This is a fast-growing realization, and a powerful motivation toward investigating how one may work with the mind in order to create and sustain physical health.
Rob van Overbruggen's book addresses this point exactly, and it does so with considerable skill, using simple, direct language to produce a clear and accurate description that truly enlightens the ideas surrounding the whole field of what is popularly termed Mind/Body Therapy. Also, though he has a specific concentration in this work, all that he says can easily and effectively be transferred to apply to any physical malady.
Without reservation, I recommend this book to all of those interested in the premise ofthis book.

I bought this book a year ago. I have several books about healing with crystals and this is the one I refer to most often. Diane Stein includes the healing properties of many uncommon stones which other books leave out. Her descriptions of each stone are short, concise and complete. A wonderful reference.... I use it all the time! I also appreciate the fact that much of the information is channeled.

I really love this book for a concise, not-overwhelming book of healing properties of stones. The biggest downfall is that there are no pictures, which is a big disappointment. But if I'm shopping for crystals there is usually a picture, so you can look for the stones whose properties you would like to have, then go out and buy it.

I would love to see an updated version of this with more than 200 stones in it.

A very helpful book

This is an excellent book. I was amazed by the number of different crystals and gemstones discussed (over 200!). I got it from the library and thought it was so great that I bought my own copy! A channeled book with lots of positive and helpful healing information. Using Diane Stein's book as inspiration, I have been carrying crystals everyday and have found them immeasurably reassuring and helpful. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the diverse healing energies of crystals.
