Magnesium relieved my anxiety as described in this review

I am very familiar with the pain of anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia for I suffered from these maladies for several decades. During those years of suffering I believed that my problems were purely mental and underwent treatment by psychiatrists, psychologists, and hypnotherapists. I took various prescribed medications and read many books such as this, but experienced little relief. And then something wonderful happened: I began taking a daily supplement of chelated magnesium (for a different ailment) and shortly thereafter experienced a significant diminishment of anxiety in addition to cure of the ailment for which I had originally taken the supplemental magnesium. There seemed to be no explanation for why taking supplemental magnesium caused this wonderful loss of anxiety until the publication in 2003 of the important book The Miracle of Magnesium by Dr. Carolyn Dean. Early in her book Dr. Dean reveals that a major cause of anxiety and panic attacks is deficiency of magnesium and that magnesium deficiency is quite common in the U.S. Therefore, I beg all sufferers of anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia -- whatever else you may do -- please purchase and read The Miracle of Magnesium by Dr. Carolyn Dean and please try the magnesium supplementation which she recommends. It may change your life as it has changed mine.

This is a wonderfully concise description of options one can employ when faced with unnecessary anxiety or undesired negative self-talk. The book doesn't break a lot of new ground, but does an excellent job of covering everything in a concise, almost reference like, manner. Of particular value is the chapter on dietary supplements: kava, valerian, GABA, inositol, 5-HTP, St. John's wort and others.

This book is an excellent way to kick start your immune system in the fight against cancer.
You need to follow the special diets religiously. Your LIFE depends on it.
Forget about just beating cancer with Radiation therapy and Chemo. You need to attack cancer from all fronts. Learn as much as you can about YOUR specific type of cancer. Follow a diet like the ones laid out in this book (It's more of an eating lifestyle change), go to a Nutrition therapist if necessary.
There are also medical doctors who have studied alternative therapy and can provide anti-cancer injections.

My sister has stage 4 cancer which spread from her Esophagus to her back and thigh bones. We were devestated and used this book and a doctor who had studied alternative cancer therapy in Switzerland. Her cancer has stopped spreading at last.

VERY GOOD BOOK. VERY HELPFUL. EXCELLENT RESOURCE TO USE ALONG WITH YOUR CONVENTIONAL CANCER TREATMENT.

I purchased this book after a friend passed away from caner (within days of finding out, he was gone). In speaking with some others and doing some internet research, I kept hearing about this book. It seems that our society is really working against us, as most things have caner causing properties in the contents. This book is an eye opener and I suggest it for those that would like to make some better food decisions and desire to have a greater awareness of what they can do for prevention.

I bought this book for a friend with cancer and after reading the preface and first chapter just couldn't put it down! Verne Varona writes with an amazing clarity, insight and entertaining style while demystifing all kinds of nutritional myths. His information about acid and alkaline is the best I've read anywhere and his sugar craving information has allowed me to challenge what was a formidable addiction. It seems like he's taken the best of numerous cultural medicines and combined them into a practical and refreshing melting pot approach. Best of all, after five weeks on this program I feel better than I have in 30 years! I have as much kitchen savvy as kangeroo, but his recipes are easy-to-follow and absolutely delicious. Whether you have cancer, concerned about cancer or just in search of good health, this highly motivating book is a must read for anyone wanting to improve or recover their health. That's my take!

Loaded with the latest Research and many years of practical experience, made this book such a beleivable read, a book I can reference and read over and over again, I specifically used a pink highlighter to zoom in on all the important points, which runs rampant without the whole book. If you are a person who wants valid, clear information on how to take care of yourself for the rest of your life whether you have cancer or not, this is the book for you, I healed my cancer fifteen years ago using these principles and there never outdated, like so many diet trends out there!! this is a keeper. Thank you for your hard work, in putting the book together. L.K.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Move Over!

Directly from the ancient world, not Vermont, we bring you - Yes! Castor Oil. Not to be taken internally, in general, but applied to the skin, sometimes with wool flannel soaked in it and a heating pad on top for an hour or two. Sometimes just massaged into the skin. Many types of use are outlined in this rare, but fascinating book by an expert on its use.

Describes the many healing uses of castor oil, mostly externally applied, since ancient times as revealed by Edgar Cayce, the late american psychic, in his 'readings' to help people with their health problems. The physician author is an expert in its clinical use. Apple cider vinegar isn't the only thing that's cheap but cures so much!

It was frequently suggested as part of a larger therapy for particular disorders, so it pays the reader to consult the A.R.E.[...]to get a better idea of what his original readings were about - holistic healing, not the 'take a pill and call me in ten days' sort of healing. The human body is a highly integrated life form charged with keeping our consciousness intact as long as possible.

Cayce made a remarkable statement: there is no illness that cannot be cured using what nature has placed on the earth for our benefit. The hard part is to find where and what these healing substances and treatments are. You can join the A.R.E. for a modest contribution and benefit from their enormous knowledge and benevolent intent. They do a lot of good. What does Pfizer do for kids at camp?

Sorry, there are no claims castor oil will cure cancer, bad breath, or a broken heart. But for many of the conditions described in the book, it has promise.

If you heard of a plant from nature that was called "the Palm of Christ" because of it's healing abilities, would you be interested? I think everyone would. Therefore, everyone should read this book. Of all things nature has given us to cure man's ills castor oil is the best. And not in the way most people think. You owe it to EVERYONE you know to realize how this simple miracle can heal as Christ did. AMAZING!

Dr. William McGarey has used castor packs for over 30 years in his medical practice. His book, The Oil that Heals, is a detailed text on McCarey's research on the history of castor packs and their miraculous effect on such diseases as cancer, hepatitis, arthritis, migraines, and digestive disorders. McGarey integrates much of Edgar Cayce's knowledge of the miraculous castor plant and his extraordinary knowledge of the human body and physiology. The book is well researched and filled with case histories from patients and physicians. The Oil that Heals is a must-read for any one serious about healing their body and getting maximum benefits from this ancient oil.

Dear Trent,

I am currently reading your digestive health book. What a fantasic book. It should be required reading for everyone involed in integrative medicine. I thought I would tell you about an interesting lab test we have her in Australia, which maybe you are familiar with. It is by a lab called 'Bioscreen' at the University of Melbourne, Australia. The test is called the 'Faecal Microbial Analysis'. I have attached a sample report and interpretive guide of the results of a young buy with autism for your interest. As you can see it goes into far more detail than labs like great smokies on the gut flora analysis.

Digestive disorders affect about 90 million Americans, according to the NIH. These conditions range from food allergies and reflux to colitis, Crohn's, and cancer. If you have been struggling with digestive illness for more than two months, consider 1) seeing a health care professional and 2) educating yourself about your condition and your treatment options. If you are struggling with one of these frustrating conditions, this book was written for you.

Optimal Digestive Health is a new edition of Optimal Digestion - The book has been updated throughout, with 12 new chapters. Reviews of the 1st edition:

Fabulous!, April 23, 2002
Reviewer from Carmel, IN USA This is the best book I have ever read on digestive disorders. It covers every situation imaginable. I consider this a "must read" for anyone with inflammatory bowel disease or bowel disorders associated with autism. It also covers Irritable Bowel, parasites, and other difficult to treat situations. This is a well-written, intelligent, insightful book. I highly recommend it as my new favorite.

For all digestive health concerns - this is it!, December 6, 2001
Reviewer from Little Rock, AR United States This has to be one of the most extensive and enlightening books on digestive health available. It covers all things digestive and is authored by a wide variety of healthcare professionals who represent a healthy balance of traditional and alternative thinking. It is the most informative (and enjoyable) book on digestive health I've purchased - and I've got quite a few. It even provides contact information for most of the authors, should you decide to make personal contact or seek treatment. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

Digestive problems written by doctors for regular people, July 11, 2001
Reviewer from Fremont, CA United States Of all of the books I have read to try to understand food sensitivities (which is about 15 by now) this one is the best. I have more faith in this one because it is written by doctors. But I could understand most of it. It also lists several doctors who deal with these issues. That was worth the 12 bucks.

Reviewer from Los Angeles, California I am a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and picked this book up at a local bookstore on a whim, wondering if there was anything that I could learn from it. To my surprise I read without stopping for about three hours after opening the book. What a delight to find a book so full of great information for the lay person and for a professional at the same time! This book is well laid out with clear diagrams and good advice. Well worth buying.

I was excited to have the honor of reviewing Dr. Fife's work, " The Palm Oil Miracle," considering I had learned so much from his previous book on Coconut Oil, and I was also intrigued to learn about oil made from palms.
As I have come to appreciate with our author's writings, he carefully explains to the reader the information he wishes to portray. In this book we find, the history of palm oil, studies that have been done concerning its benefits, and how it will help you live a healthier life by using it.
I have to tell you I was amazed as I read the benefits of this oil for our bodies. To quote our author from page 111, "Palm oil can affect your health in so many positive ways it can be regarded as a health tonic." Now that is a potent statement worth taking notice of, and the information and facts he gives definitely back it up.
Believe me by the time you get to the final chapter of this book you are ready to try Palm oil and you will be glad that our author has included page upon page of recipes using this miraculous oil for you to try. If you care about your body and your quality of life, you will want to consider using Palm Oil. Since it is probably a mystery to you, as it was to me, this book is a must have to understand how Palm oil use can benefit your body. It is amazing! "Palm Oil Miracles," leaves no stone unturned in answering any question you may have and will definitely lead you on a path towards more healthy eating and living. I greatly recommend this book; it is chock full of facts as to 'why' you should consider switching to Palm oil and is written in an easy to 'digest' way. Great book for all those who want to learn more about what their body needs to enjoy a healthier life. Palm oil definitely would be on the list of 'to have.' Highly recommended read!

As with all of Bruce Fife's books, his writing style is always easy to understand.
This is a great book to read now that manufacturers are looking to replace all the trans fats in our food supply and one of the options they are turning to is palm oil.
For people who are still afraid of saturated fats, this book will relieve all your fears. Its amazing what all palm oil (and coconut oil) can do for us health wise.
This is a must read, along with Bruce's, "the coconut oil cure".
And as always, there are recipes at the end of the book. I have always loved the recipes!
I wish more people were aware of the health benefits of these 2 oils. I will be adding palm oil to my kitchen from here on out.
Thank you Bruce for yet another well written and imformative book!

Bruce Fife has done it again!

"Mr. Coconut Miracle", and the author of the instant classic "Saturated Fat May Save Your Life" has hit another "grand slam" with The Palm Oil Miracle.

Few people in the US of A know anything about Palm Oil - and how GREAT it is for our health.

Instantly dispelling the lies we've been "fed" by the Vegetable Oil industry, Consumer "Advocate" Groups and the medical establishement about how saturated fat (there's more than one) clogs our arteries & raises cholesterol, we learn that Palm Oil is full of heart FRIENDLY nutrients, such as Carotenoids and "Super vitamin E" (Tocotrienols) as well as CoQ10 and other wonderful substances. These nutrients go far beyond just being heart-friendly, too (brain, eyes, immune system, bones, joints, skin, etc.)

We also learn how Palm Oil contains the same exact ratios of fats (saturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated) found inside the trillions of cells in HEALTHY humans, and why it is the perfect substitute for hydrogenated / trans-fat-laden vegetable oils for cooking, baking and frying virtually any foods (you can even make HEALTHY donuts with it - no kidding!).

Once you learn the scientific FACTS about Palm Oil, you will run to your local health food store / "natural" supermarket and start using it every day for the rest of your life.

Thank you, Dr. Fife, for another "jewel" of a health book. Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us with your next book!

P.S. - Nutritional supplements made with "Super vitamin E" (Tocotrienols) from un-refined palm oil are available from companies such as Jarrow Formulas and Life Extension Foundation.

This book is for anyone who is prepared to spend the time learning how to treat this region effectively and comprehensively. I have earnt my my money back many times over by becoming more efficient in my diagnosis and treatment. I can also recommend her book on "The Thorax" - again, practice changing, practical information.

I listened to the book on tape of Caroline Myss' Personal Healing. This is the first time I have heard her speak. I was not familiar with her ideas at all before this.

I think this Book on Tape has alot of great ideas for people who are looking to better their lives. Alot of it specifically addresses how your mental/spiritual state effects your physical health - and how changing the way you think and feel can make you a healthier person.
She talks about forgiveness, carrying emotional weight and more things than can negatively impact your physical health.

I found this book on tape very helpful. She gives some really great insights. And I will definatley be reading more of her books.

Wow!! That is about summing it up!

Caroline Myss is an incredible revolutionary Mystic, with intellegence, practicality and a sense of humor. I bought this CD because I was suffering from Depression. It really is a Mind blowing CD. She really taps into a deeper, more meaninful part of ourselves. She answers some very interesting questions with incredible wisdom and insight. Why do some people heal, and not others? Is healing possible? Are some people "Hooked" on staying stuck in their disease? Why do some live and some die from their ailments? Why do people get sick in the first place?
No, Caroline Myss is not the authority on Disease, but her brilliance, insight and wisdom really helps you to see how you have an active part in your life circumstances and illnesses. It helps to give you a sense of power back. Two other pluses are that she is funny, and the Prince of Whales speaks at the end of this CD. I would recommend it to anyone feeling ill, or stuck in their lives.

Caroline Myss is very well known as a medical intuitive and lecturer on healing in general and practical applications of spiritual principles.

In this lecture, approximately 1 hour, she discusses a number of very accessible ideas on personal healing. The ideas, such as "live in the present time" and "forgive" and "retrive your spirit bartered to others" are practical and accessible.

While her other programs are more involved and lead to deeper work on her ideas, this program is an excellent introduction to MYSS.

Davia Frawley says in foreword: Practical Ayurveda is an excellent introduction to the system of Ayurveda and one that is concise, direct, and easy to understand. The book meets these observations. It is written to normal educated western audience. The author introduces the reader to the three humors ( three kind of bodies - Vata, Pitta, Kapha). He gives directions to identify one's body type. He explains how ayurveda views disease as imbalance of humors. Food is recognised as medicine. A chapter deals with herbs. ( Appendix gives the terms in latin, indian context). A separate chapter on weight loss and beauty care, which are concerns of modern human being. He has written a chapter on sexual rejuvenration methods. He points out from Ayurvedic point of view, sexual pleasure is postively viewed. The author is a spiritual seeker. He talks about his guru Poonjaji's a visionary trip to Himalayas where he observes that a sadhu cut off from all human contacts has a girlie magazine under his stone pillow. The author point outs that celibacy and brahmacharya are not one and the same. He also provides another woman seeker's personal observations in this context. Yet, the chapter is not balanced; A good bibliography is given, which referrences to scientific journals. A ideal book for marriage gift.

A bit hard to rate, this is the first and only book I've ever read on the subject.
I write this anyway, just to say that I think the book, or maybe rather "the subject of the book" is marvelous, and I find that most of these "health-ideas" or whatever one should call them, work extremely well and are easilly applied to my own daily life. In the past few weeks I have experienced a genuine "getting-better-both-mantally-and-physically"-feeling, that includes waking ealier, sleeping less (but deeper and feeling more relaxed and well-rested when I wake up), feeling less tired in my body, and genreally feeling much clearer in my mind and my thinking

I have been "studying" various indian/eastern thoughts for the past 3-4 years, just for fun and because I find them interesting (and mostly true)and this sort of feels like the logical extension to most of it.

Im not a fanatic, Im not a member of any weird cult or bizare comunity ... I did stop smoking and drinking to much though, now you are warned :-) ... but I think that this ayur-veda can really teach one how to better listen to the body, and get better at responding to some quite clear signals that tell us - all day long - whether we are living in a healthy way or not ...ยจ

This book is good at linking the ayur-veda-thoughts to the general "yoga-philosophies" ... if you don't like this, maybe the book is not for you ... my sister read it and called it "brainwashing propaganda" ... I think it works well, and have some really good explanations/insights on many things ... read it and find out ... I highly recommend it

The foreword by David Frawley says:` Practical Ayurveda' is an excellent introduction to the system of Ayurveda and one that is concise, direct, and easy to understand. The book fulfills the observation. It introduces the concept of differnet body types; how to recognise them, how to make the changes in food habits and life style. He explains also the method of Ayurvedic diagnosis. The section on sex from Ayurvedic point of view discusses about his guru's visionary trip in Himalayas and also one of his woman's friend's insights about relation of spirituality and sex. There is a good appendix relating terms in Latin, Indian and English ( herb names). Interestingly, referrences are given from journals also. It enhances the scientific nature of the book. ( I have referred to a Jaico publication, in India)

I just ordered Matthew's new book and can't wait for it to arrive. I was fortunate to study with him at a distance for several years and to be a patient of his at times. He has whole realms of knowledge, has studied with Native American medicine men, and is deeply intuitive.

Herbal Remedies from the Old Ways

Matthew Fox has brought the Old Ways of Herbal Medicine to our modern world. This book speaks in a language I can understand. His descriptions of the underlying imbalances within the tissue that results in symptoms made such an impression on me. He lists signs which we all can identify in our illness. The book gives a description of the plants that can favorably affect these tissue states. Once the underlying cause of an illness is brought back to normal, a balanced state, then the disease goes away. Makes sense to me!!!

Clear and to the point, but also has such a warm, personal touch. Buy this book, you won't be disappointed.

This book, along with Vitalism, has given me a historical and practical context for Western Herbalism that makes sense to me. I've been a closet herbalist for decades, stumbling over what were to me, cryptic texts, out of context, and these books by Matthew Wood catapulted me out of said closet and into (herbalist) school.-!!- I had no idea what to expect when I ordered this book. Halfway through I ordered Vitalism, and half way through that I ordered The Book of Herbal Wisdom. Having not read a huge quantity of herbals I cannot rate this book against all the many others, but it lit a bonfire in me to move forward. Lights on. Five Stars.

This book, as most of Mathew Wood's books is par excellence! Written with clarity, ease, brilliance Mr. Woods books are engaging, easy to read for both the budding herbalist or experienced practitioner. The Western Herbalism he espouses is based on his extensive experience as a practicing herbalist and his continued passion to study the great herbal masters of the Western World. His integrity, wit, and skill will leave you clamoring for more written works by this modern healing Master. I highly recommend all of his books not only for Western Herbalists, but for Chinese Herbalists and Homeopaths as well.

I have had this book for several years. Some helpful remedies include treating and preventing the Flu. It states that VITAMEN C, GARLIC, TEA AND HOME-MADE CHICK NOODLE SOUP HELP WITH the FLU. I've personally tried the Garlic, and it gets rid of a sore throat almost immediately after eating it. I found out that it has to be fresh garlic, not minced and not flavored with, like powder or salt. I usually eat some garlic pods in my potato soup or fried potatoes when I notice a cold or the flu coming on. Usually the garlic shortens the duration of which the cold would have lasted on anyone else. Like most people will get a cold for 2 weeks, I might have it for 3 days. Also B6 relieves carpal tunnel, migraines, and stress.

It gives not only the name of the vitamin and what it relieves but it also gives the sources of foods that this vitamin is in like VITAMEN E is in asparagus, barley, cherries, nuts and wheat.

As far as KIDNEY STONES which I still had pain after I had them. This book tells you what triggers the pain...which is very nice to know. Stay away from oxalate rich foods-black tea-chocolate-nuts-spinach-strawberries. I've found that Spinach really makes my kidneys hurt and I can only eat it if I drink lots of water with it-to dilute the potency of the oxalates.

This book lists just about every disease or symptom that I can think of. ARTHRITIS-ASTHMA-BLOOD PRESSURE-CANCER-COLDS-CRAMPS-DEPRESSION-DIABETES-EAR INFECTIONS-FATIGUE-GALLSTONES-HEADACHES-HEART DISEASE-INSOMIA-MACULAR DEGENERATION-MENOPAUSE-MIGRANES-OSTEOPOROSIS-ULCERS-URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS-YEAST INFECTIONS-
....................JUST to name a few.

Excellent Resource - I think every book shelf deserves this book!

This book has a compendium of foods for weight loss, cancer
prevention, management of arthritis and a whole host of
health problems too numerous to list here. For instance, Vit. C
levels, Zinc, garlic and produce help with the common cold.
Did you know that olive oil is a good source of Vitamin E?
Foods to control diabetes are noted; such as, multiple servings
of fruits and veggies, high fiber, calcium rich foods and beans.
This book is a solid value for the price charged. It will be a good addition to your personal health library collection.
