I absolutely love this book. I have both books by her and use them both and find myself refering to this one alot more. I even use it on myself and it works wonderfully. There are cures for almost everything in here... Like I said I love this book!!! I really don't need another baby/kids book because it's all here.

This book was worth the price for the "sniffles and snuffles" recipe alone! A single drop of that remedy and my chronically ear-infected, sinus infected child 18 month old easily without any cough syrup (which upsets his stomach violently).

This book is an excellent reference for those wishing to use essential oils on children. It breaks the oils for use down by age and each recipe gives allowable substitutions, so you can tailor it for the child with whom you are working.

I use both of Ms. Wormwood books extensively. She generously shares her knowledge and her craft.

I took an aromatherapy weekend seminar as an introductory to this fascinating subject. Was I surprised as to how interesting and versitile aromatherapy is. As a mother of 4 young children,I have always used natural medicine as a first priority and this has saved us many trips to the doctor and many doses of unwarranted antibiotics. I did not realize the potential that essential oils possess until I took the seminar. I bought this book after I took the seminar and have used it lots especially the oil blends for respiratory problems. I also have used her other book called The Fragrant Pharmacy and this book is LOADED with information. This lady knows her oils and is one of the best there is.You won't regret buying it!

Unlike Worwoods other book The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: Over 600 Natural, Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health - Beauty - a Safe Home Environment, the oils she suggests in this one are difficult to come by. I have used many of her suggestions for other modalities and have found them helpful.

I Love this book, I use it for all memebers of my family.
Its not just for kids, each blend can be used on anyone.
I love the science of EOs, however this book doesnt offer that info on it, but does offer the BEST BLENDS I have ever used.
I know what each oil does, and even when I am sure of what oils I am going to use I find myself opening this book and each oil I have thought on my own to use because I know how great it is for a certain condition, is the oils she has mentioned to use.
Plus the ease of finding what you are need to a blend for is great. The A to Z type of format is wonderful.
As I mentioned I am aware of each oils chemical makeup and find this book to give the best oil for each conditoin.
This is a MUST HAVE. You will be so PLEASED.
Plus make sure to blend up the room disfect spray. I love this spray and use to so often.
BUY this BOOK you will always find yourself going to it.

This book is the most complete health reference I have come upon. Altshuler isn't bantering on about one method of treating pain but gives holistic advice as well as specific treatments for each ailment. This book gives many options for every problem, giving a list of choices and alternatives that enable the reader to have an active role in their own health. Each recommended medication is discussed and he talks about taking precaution on some medications which may have side effects or can be dangerous if combined with other drugs. Altshuler also gives nutritional advice and therapy suggestions which are not often available to patients. I recommend this book highly and suggest that you take a look at it to see if it can help you as this book has helped me.

Finally, a book that authoritively blends modern medicine with effective alternative therapies!!! I find the information contained therein accurate and very valuable; it should prove to save many many folks a lot of $$$! The fact that it's written by someone who actually PRACTICES this kind of medicine, as opposed to someone who just does a literature search on med-line and writes a rehash of someone elses work, is a God-send. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to play an active role in their own healthcare and potentially save a small fortune in needless trips to the doctor. Bravo, Dr. Altshuler!

This book is not as comprehensive as the Encyclopedia of Healing, but for a book that balances 'western' and 'alternative' healings it is a good primer. I would have liked more diagrams and charts for Acupressure or other techniques instead of the lists of where to find practicioners... I like it because I have some serious health stuff that requires a lot of interaction with the 'western' medical community (to my gratitude), but want to supplement and perhaps mediate some of the side effects of the 'western' treatments that keep me alive. I like Dr. Altschuler's tone, very readable and accessible. Glad to have it on my shelf.

This book is wonderful!

I have found it difficult to navigate through the confusing and often contradictory sea of information on alternative medicine available on the internet, though word of mouth, and on book shelves.

Given the amount of information contained with in this one text, one would think it was inaccessible or filled with jargon that the layperson cannot comprehend; with "Balanced Healing" this is not the case. Dr. Altshuler has given the reader an incredible wealth of information organized in a way that puts real solutions at their very fingertips. Whether you are recovering from an ailment or just turning over a new leaf to a healthier lifestyle, Dr. Larry Altshuler has written the book for you!

I highly recommend this book!

The Best News About Radiation Therapy takes a very open, personal approach to making its readers feel comfortable. The author affirms the anxieties that the reader confronts, thus making the reader realize that it is normal to be so scared. That alone makes the reader feel better.

By methodically and humanistically going through the entire sequence of events a person encounters in a radiation therapy environment, the author demystifies and destigmatizes radiation treatment. The author's upbeat approach is infectious! The inspirational quotes that accompany each chapter cheer the reader. I salute the author for writing this informative book.

Understanding the bodies issues has not been covered totally by the Medical world especially the root causes of illnesses nor has the medical attention addressed the balance of organs & systems in the body. This book is an enlightened understanding of the total body and its energy fields and fluids in the body which if become unbalanced any sickness can occur, cancer, tumors, headaches, pain, low blood pressure, high blood pressure etc etc.I have found this book so simple to understand as its essence speaks of the fine tuning of health issues and reduced needs of chinese herbs to produce renewed energy flow and moving of matter where it has stagnated. It should be read as the key to new abilities to monitor your health through tongue reading which anyone can learn from the examples shown in this amazing book.Remember the medical tests cannot show cancer till its advanced condition in the body. This book gives you the instant means to check your own conditions so you can address your own problems before cancer/tumors take a hold in your organ or wherever.

This is an extraordinary book by an extraordinary man. I have had the absolute blessing of being in his presence - a truly memorable experience. As strange as it sounds he actually works with thousands of ill people every day at his clinic in China. When I met him he was on his way to receive a lifetime achievement tribute at the UN from the Wolrd Health Organziation. I am not a medical person. I do think of and know myself to be a spiritual being. Dr. Gou's book is a treasure - both of healing ways and spiritual enlightenment. It belongs on every bookshelf. I also recommend all publications by Dr Zhi Gang Sha, his adopted son. Truly amazing spiritual wisdom.

There are many approaches to healing qigong...but this is the real deal!
I won't say mastery is easy, but this is the most thoughtful and revolutionary approach to medical qigong that I have ever encountered.
Pulse diagnosis is a pain and so subjective, but to be able to reduce things to a simple tongue diagnosis and some other key diagnostic queries and a simple herbal formula is REVOLUTIONARY!
Perhaps the most intriguing part is the key role of the herbal, cinnamon bark in the decoctions and infusions.
This is a must read for those trying to understand qigong healing.
The wheel has been redesigned!

I bought this book without having read much of it first. I know practicaly nothing about Native American studies or shamanism, it's not my calling or interest. Anyways, I bought this one anyway and am sorta confused. Like I said, I know hardly anything at all about Native American culture but I would assume they didnt go out have get pink, blue, yellow, purple, red, oarnge and indigo candles for their work. Almost every working in the book calls for all these rainbow things. I wonder if this is authentic? I am going to borrow from another reviewer I saw a while ago and say This book is probably good for the "bookstore shaman" . Thats about all I can say.

Recommended for students of Native American spirituality.

Despite its focus on healing and the fact that it was written by a Chishti sheikh, this book provides the best introduction to sufism for any serious students affiliated to any sufi order. Some of the ideas portrayed in this book are very difficult to come by, such as the Quran being a breathing exercise, or the science of ta'widh (talismans). I didn't pay much attention to the sections on healing, but I even learned how to pray from this book.

A wonderful presentation of Sufi healing traditions as well as Islam's contributions to world civilization

The author, Shaykh Hakim Moinuddin Chisti (Dr. Hakim Chishti) is a naturopathic physician and one of the few practitioners of Unani al-tibb in North America as well as a Fulbright Research Scholar. While conducting research in Afghanistan, he studied Unani medicine under the tutelage of a traditional practitioner, and has since participated in numerous international health symposia in Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan. Working from original material, he has translated into English the standard textbook of Avicenna on Unani medicine, Mizan-ul-Tibb ("The Canon of Medicine"). He is the author of "The Traditional Healer's Handbook" (Healing Arts Press, 1991), based on the foregoing translation.

For the Sufis within the mystic branches of Islam, the healing of the sick is considered to be the most important of all services to humanity. For the first time in the West, the author presents the secret principles and practices of this divine science, based on the 800-year tradition of the Chishti Order, to which the author belongs. The Chishti Order is a Sufi order which was founded in Chisht, a small town near Herat, in Western Afghanistan about 930 C.E. and continues to this day. The Chishti Order is known for its emphasis on love, tolerance, and openness, and "service to humanity" in the form of healing is one of the nine principles of the order first enunciated by Abu Ishaq Shami ("the Syrian"), its revered founder.

Among the many topics covered in "The Book of Sufi Healing" are dietary recommendations of the Prophet, the preparation of herbal formulas, healing with essential oils, the characteristics of illnesses arising at various stages of the soul's evolution, the therapeutic applications of fasting, prayer and correct breathing, the manufacture and use of talismans to maintain, restore and promote good health and the "infallible remedy."

Dr. Chishti has produced a truly wonderful, uplifting work, a veritable pharmacopoeia of Quranic verses (among other therapeutic modalities) relating to specific ailments affecting our spiritual and physical beings as well as a number of valuable chapters containing practical guidance for detoxification measures, diagnosis, the use of the Divine Names in the treatment of possession, and the use of spiritual geometric designs ("Taweez," akin in form and purpose to the Indian "Yantra") that have traditionally been used for healing. In addition to its detailed, very clear treatment of the Sufi healing tradition, Dr. Chishti's work is an excellent general introduction to the subject of Sufism for any serious student.

"The Book of Sufi Healing" is a work that should be read by anyone who wishes to acquire an in-depth knowledge of Sufism's and Islam's traditional healing practices as well as Sufism and its place in Islam more generally.

This is a magnificent book, written by a woman whom I have known all my life and to this day she has never lived by the words "depressed", or "angry". Greatful and optomistic is her lot, and her mind constantly searching for meaning and truth. Her and her associates have done countless hours of research, interviewing expert Dr.'s specializing in the field of breast cancer treatment. This book will nourish it's readers, leaving them with self confidence, and knowledge as to what lies ahead enabling the reader to make the most intelligent decisions concerning treatments, and our most important decision, our attitude.

Reading this book it is hard to feel too glum although breast cancer is it's subject. For women who have been through some of what the author has experienced, whether the medical ups and downs or the personal struggle with faith and hope, this book provides empathy and sustenance. With humor, intelligence and relevant information, Ms. Baker gives women a peek into the experiences so many of us will go through and survive, perhaps even thrive. You just have to read her tale of what she heard while waiting for surgery! One of those things we all can laugh at only after the fact; to be able to laugh, love, and believe is the theme of this great little book.

Impressive doctors' sections including the renowned Chris Wright, PhD of Cambridge University discussing his research on Tamoxifen; Doctors N. For me, these are the highlights of the book. For my wife, they were the poetry, illustrations, and the myriad of helpful suggestions and insights into things people don't usually discuss.

"If you are a breast cancer patient, you need no introduction to me, because you know me well already. I'm just like you...You and I have in common the unsettling feeling of our worlds shaken up, our schedules not in our own control, and the keen awareness of our own human vulnerability. When cancer strikes, it puts us all on even ground. Rich or poor, pretty or plain, waitress or CEO, it makes no difference. There is no escape route and the only special treatment we'll get is what's sent from heaven."

With this book, Sylvia Baker wrote one of the best books on the subject of breast cancer. It takes away the fear from surgery for those women who need to go through the process and this book offers lots of hope for the recover process. Baker herself is a breast cancer survivor and has gone through the whole ordeal. She wrote the book from the heart with the purpose of edifying and encouraging the reader, while being objective regarding the issue.
The author approaches the subject systematically, but always with the concern of the individual patient in mind. This book is highly recommended for everyone who was just been diagnosed with breast cancer or who is already in the recovery stage, and it's also a great and encouraging read for loved ones of breast cancer victims as it is a very helpful book -- one of the best books on the subject out there. Because of the excellent content, this book is just simply an encouraging read for everyone.

This book is not so much about self-care -- exercise, diet, medications, relaxation and such -- but it is very strong on getting the support you need to live successfully with a chronic condition. I used her material extensively in writing The Art of Getting Well: Maximizing Health When You Have a Chronic Illness.

Most of us don't like to ask for help. It makes us feel weak, guilty, needy or even "un-American." But mutual assistance is the way the world works. Register gives powerful reasons to ask for and accept help, likely places to find it, and ways of paying people back. She points out that most people like to help, and that we can help others in our turn.

Her book is also very strong on dealing with the medical profession and financial issues, how to keep your illness from impoversihing you. She continues to thrive with her condition, teaches at a university and has written several more books. She is an inspiring and practical teacher.

I read this book under the original title, and went right back to the bookstore and bought all the other five copies they had in stock. One went to my lupus support group's library, and I wanted to have extras to give to others struggling with new and lifelong diagnoses (while holding fast to a copy for me to re-read over and over over the years--I knew I was going to want to, and I have.) A dozen or so years later, it is still the best-written book on the subject.

When I was first diagnosed with three chronic illnesses (all within a few months in 1999), I read up online and in the public library. I started with the CDC web site for reliable medical info and also found a disease-specific local support group. But what really gave me the aha! that I'm connected to all people with chronic illness was reading The Chronic Illness Experience by Cheri Register. Reading the words of so many people in that book - they were so much like me, even though our illnesses were different. It really helped me develop my identity as a person with a disability and I've made fabulous connections with other people with disabilities who understand disability as a way of being more than just medical deficit. Many of my symptoms have been lifelong, but I no longer identify (most of the time!) as a weak runt, which was how I saw myself before. Hooray for disability culture and for being able to recognize and appreciate the experiences of other people with invisible chronic illness. -- it becomes less invisible when you see yourself (and your fatigue, pain, etc.) in others.

This book was recommended by the Arthritis Association, so I picked it up at the library first. I kept it well past the due date, and finally purchased a copy of my own because I know I need to read it again and again. It is first hand experiences from real people, confirming that what I am feeling is not unusual. I'm coping better since reading The Chronic Illness Experience. This is one book I will never lend out.

I have owned this book for years & I have to say that is one of my most used books that I own , which is saying a lot. I love this book. Anytime I have a question about an herb or if I have some problems that I would like to first try to heal naturally this is the book. I can't say enough good things about this book.

When I had my first child, I was in bed for 2 weeks hardly able to walk from the pain. It took me a whole year before I did not feel some kind of pain now and then if I walked a lot.

My friend loaned me this fantastic book and after following the childbirth recommendations for herbs, I can say with certainty, that 10 minutes after giving birth, I was up and around without any pain at all- EVER! Not even with an episiotomy!

My daughter was just as large as my son was too.

This book is a very thorough reference book with a LOT of information for women-specific problems.

Each herb has a color photo of it along with in depth descriptions of the herb, history and uses.

I found this book to be fabulous and a very important book to have. The delivery of my daughter was a shock to me- NO AFTER PAIN!

By the way, the birth pains were still strong- just the after pains were not there at all.

A wealth of information superbly presented

This is one of the best herb books I've come across. The pictures and drawings of the herbs are excellent. The information is organized according to the seasons of a woman's life--puberty, motherhood, menopause, etc. There is also a lot of information on herbs for children and a section for general family care. A table at the end summarizing which herbs are useful for which ailments is a huge help when you are in a big hurry to find a remedy. Any woman who uses herbs at all should have this book. It's well worth the money.

This book has saved me hundreds of dollars in medical bills for the past 6 months. I have monthly urinary track infections, which cost money I rather spend somewhere else. This book gave me the remedy I needed to cure myself and save my wallet. I recommend this book to any woman who suffers like I do, it's great!

This book is a wonderful sourse of information about health, illness, herbs and their properties. Many helpful recipes. It does lack a guide as to how much of the herbs to use for body mass - which is critical in not over or under using the herb as a medicine.

When I read all the five star reviews, I knew I had to have this CD. But when I tried it out, I was a little disappointed. It did help me relax, so it does work. But I wasn't able to reach the same deep levels of peace and relaxation that I had gotten from another CD progam--The FAST Technique for Stress Relief by Dr. Ronald Nathan. (EXTREMELY relaxing and calming CDs by the way!)

Even though Creating Inner Peace and Calm wasn't as helpful as I had hoped, I will probably give it another try. I mean, it did have an effect. Maybe the results improve the more you use it.

A must have!!

I had bought Glen's CD - Guided Meditation a while back and loved it so much that I bought a couple more of his CD's. I listed to this on my IPOD during my lunch break and felt so peaceful, calm, and happy soon after. I came back to work and was very productive and focused yet calm. I really recommend this to anyone who wants to feel peace, happy, and positive.

I have one other Glenn Harrold CD on healing your body. I like this one on creating peace within during all these stressful world and local events. I like the second session on this CD as I really don't feel I need the long explanation he gives on abdominal breathing that is presented on the first of two relaxation sessions on this CD. His British accent is very soothing for me and most of the time I am sleeping before the completion of the talks.

Yes, calm!

This does work, it does calm and it helped get rid of jittery nerves. Great item.
