I found the 5th Edition to be overpriced. The 4th edition offered the same information and much cheaper!

I am actually trying to reach you...I had received a phone call yesterday but was not home...I am not sure if it was from
you or from the other book I purchased...Please contact my cell phone if you needed something
(I didn't know how else to contact you, that's why I had to do it here, Thanks).

Although there were some nice photos and illustrations, this book did not provide the detail I was hoping for. It was the
assigned text for the Fundamentals of Audiology class I took last semester. I usually keep the best books in each area of
Audiology and Speech Pathology, but I found that this book was not helpful for me to keep as a reference book. The book we
used for Introduction to Audiology was actually more helpful than this and had a great CD-Rom...Hopefully the next edition
will include some practical changes.

Clinical sound, but not practical for parent

This article provides a summary of ADHD, predominately inattentive. While it is good background information, it does not offer
any new insights into managing the condition with medication or behavior theraphy. In fact, more than one section provides
information about other types of ADHD and states "...results specific to this subtype are not yet available" or "...in the
IN subtyple is not yet clear."
The article is 4 pages long, but almost 2 pages are reference citations. It is well written and easily understood by the layperson (parent, in this case). The first page details Prevalence, Symptoms and Comorbidity. The second page focuses on Assessment, Etiology and Treatment. While the article is clincially sound, it offers no real information to a parent wanting to help their child.
Despite the title, the article actually typifies much of the available information (or lack thereof) on the inattentive type. Apparently there is much more interest in ADHD with behavioral problems not just in diagnosis and support, but in research dollars as well. This article highlighted areas were more research is needed rather than offering conclusions.
This article does not strike me as one that would be of interest to [...] customers. Medical professions would likely seek information elsewhere.

While the intentions are good, there are much more informative and actionable books than this one. The most insight comes
from the introduction.

This book and all others of this ilk espouse the philosophy that those who are deaf just have to learn to live with it. I
say this is wrong. Science can put an end to this condition but these scientists and researchers choose not to do so. It is
more profitable to keep bilking the deaf out of what little money they can scrape together from their menial jobs for hearing
aids that don't really help and for visits to doctors who look in a person's ears and "sorrowfully" announce that nothing
can be done to restore hearing. Money is wasted by organizations to pay for close captions that are garbled most of the time,
especially on news programs. Taxes are wasted on schools for the deaf where the deaf are taught that they are losers and have
no right to expect any of the good things in life that hearing people take for granted. Interpreters charge a fortune for
their services. Books like this offer no comfort or peace of mind. They are just part of schemes to make more dishonest money.
Reading a book like this is going to make hearing people stop making fun of the deaf? I don't think so. Easy for a hearing
person to write a book like this and say, "just live with it." If the author is deaf, then he has had his head buried in the
sand. Save your money, everyone. Don't waste your time and money on books like this. If you want fairy tales, read Mother
Goose or Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.

This "brochure" costs $20 for a lousy 19 pages. The material it does have is just a sales pitch for the SCERTS method. Shameful.

The Study Guide that accompanies Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is very time consuming with no help to see if you are on
the right track. There are no answers to refer to. I feel working in this book is a chore and is a lot of busy work for my
class. There is no on-line help with this book.
