Child-Nutrition Books

I used the other book " Autism : Effective Biomedical Treatments" as my tool for taking my daughter to the tier 2 of the DAN! pricipals. It was the bible of biomedical books regarding DAN!. This above book was a fabulous read also seeing what worked for the different kids in the main story section over time. The updates are interesting and I never read so much positive feedback on DMG which we used prior to the read.

Although my daughter is not really overweight, her BMI is toward the upper limit for her age and she is showing some symptoms which concern me, such as eating for emotional reasons and always wanting more sweets, etc. This book has a pretty interesting story of 3 kids who go through the Shapedown program, divided into weekly chapters. It also has very do-able goals for each week, such as limiting television, eating dinner as a family and taking a walk as a family. The family decides together what the goals are, i.e. how many nights to have a family dinner, how many hours of television. This book was all I had hoped for and more!

This book gives specific recommendations on how to help your child adopt healthy lifestyles to prevent and treat obesity. At a time when the number of overweight children is greatly increasing, this book provides timely advice. The book is easy to read and is not full of medical jargon even though it is written by a medical doctor. The advice echoes what my pediatrician had recommended for my child, only that it is much more specific in its recommendations. I greatly recommend it to any parent battling with the difficult problem of childhood obesity.

Parents encourage children to keep their bodies healthy and fit from childhood, so why not their young and growing brains? "The Smart Brain Train: How to Keep Your Brain Healthy and Wise" encourages children to take care of the only brain they have, explaining little things they can do to improve their brain's condition, such as proper diet, exercises, activities that help and more. Enhanced with an index and a bonus progress chart, "The Smart Brain Train: How to Keep Your Brain Healthy and Wise" is written for all ages and is easy to read for such - highly recommended for community library children's health sections.

A fun read for all. Informative and entertaining for kids with just enough bizarre "comicbookness" to interest adults who enjoy fantasy. Excellent artwork. Hats off to the whole group that made this possible.

Though I was doing a paper for adults, this book was helpful, as its plain language laid out the obesity epidemic in this country.
The interviews with the kids and what they had to deal with everyday is heart-wrenching, but important for all to be aware.

This book is a great story that helps kids to understand in a fun way the hidden sources of sugar and the dangers of too much. My kids loved it, and I love the great recipes in the back. Could easily be used for an educational project.

This book is GREAT! The info is very informative. The photos are beautiful and the recipes ae delicious! I loved this book so much I had to buy copies for friends.
