This book educates the parent on a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their children. It goes over healthy drinking,
eating, supplements and more. There's alot of practical, easy to understand information on diet, fluids, vitamins, herbs
and natural remedies for specific childhood ailments.
Real solutions, is an easy read, but still provides alot of useful information for us busy parents. I like Part Two where you can look up specific conditions and find natural alternatives for them. I found this book very informative without being overwhelming.

is a must for every educator and parent is Bully-Proofing Children: A Practical, Hands-On Guide to Stop Bullying. Written

anyone who works with kids. Filled with units, lessons, scripts and original stories focus on school safety which is so important
given the current climate of schools today.

The ScribbleMonster books are an asset to your child's library. These books are fun and entertaining. They are not the typical
generic coloring book with no story. These books are wonderfully written and illustrated. Your child (and you or anyone else)
gets to color the pages. The price is affordable and well worth it. Your kids will love these books. Try one....they'll want
more.

The Scribblemonster series opens up a whole new avenue for promoting creativity, self-esteem and celebrating differences!
In "Scribblemonster and the Crunchy, Crunchy Carrots" toddlers and pre-schoolers learn the importance of eating what is good
for them. "Scribblemonster Takes A Bath" helps pre-schoolers practice their colors, recognize their skin color and appreciate
their bodies.
I also love "Scribblemonster and the Broken TV". This book is so important for children because it shows kids that there is more to do than just sit and watch TV! Parents will love this book! It includes creative ideas, art expression, enthusiasm and character education. It is obvious the authors have strong values and high levels of creativity! The end of each book has questions for parents to process the several themes of the book with their child. There is also a suggested activity and game to play, which child will love!
As a social worker, I am always looking for new and thought-provoking, fun books to promote and enhance self-esteem, creativity and character education with my very young clients. The Scribblemonster series will surely be put to good use in my practice in the future!

My daughter eagerly awaited the next book from Erin Mirabella after "Gracie Goat" entranced her. I love how the series gets
my daughter interested in different sports and in fitness in general. It provides a fun way to approach some of the difficult
lessons that can only be learned on the field and through teamwork!! We look forward to the next book in the series!

Every parent of a sport-mad child wants it all to be a healthy experience; learning respect for others, developing positive role models. It's not always that way, is it? Some athletes disappoint us and our children with arrogant behavior, and when children imitate them unhappiness can follow. Author Erin Mirabella is the other kind of athlete; a World Cup track cyclist and two-time member of the U.S. Olympic cycling team, she is giving inspiration to children with her delightful Barnsville Sports Squad series. Shawn Sheep the Soccer Star (Barnsville Sports Squad) is the second book of the series, which brings gentle lessons of courage and good sportsmanship.
Shawn Sheep is a good player, but he borrows the boasting mannerisms of his idol, professional footballer Paul Peacock. Shawn's "peacock power dance" and taunting of the other team get him banned from the big match. At a food stop on the way home, Shawn is thrilled to see his idol -- but does the mighty Paul Peacock live up to his image? Does he have an encouraging word for his little fan? Since this is a book about sportsmanlike behavior, you may gather that Shawn gets his eyes opened and comes back to his team with a new appreciation of teamwork.
The book closes with an information page about soccer -- oh look! it's called football everywhere but the U.S.!! -- and Fitness Facts on the importance of good nutrition for long-lasting energy on the field.
The animals comprising the Sports Squad are brought to life by illustrator Sarah Davis. Each page is action-packed and vivid, from the crowd in the stands to the players dribbling and blocking, the story is complemented beautifully.
The Barnsville series is brought to us by VeloPress, publishers of training books for endurance athletes; a nice addition to their line. My only reservation about SHAWN SHEEP is that it's pegged for ages 4-8, and I think it's better suited to the lower ages in that range. Considering that, 4.5 stars.

I'm amazed every time I open this book at how chock full of fantastic information it is! Beverly Pressey lays it all out
in a clear, concise, and highly readable way - everything from snack ideas and healthier treats to serve at birthday parties
to strategies for picky eaters and translations of food labels. She provides a wealth of information about proteins, carbohydrates,
and different types of fats, as well as clear guidelines for milk and juice. Within the first few pages of the book, infant
feeding is fully covered, then allergy issues are quickly addressed, and the rest of the book is devoted to eating strategies,
nutritional information, and meal ideas. This is not a recipe book, since Ms. Pressey is keeping it simple for parents with
busy schedules. Instead she offers suggestions for grocery planning and quick-serve foods that can be combined to make healthy
meals.
The rules around eating are clear as Ms. Pressey lays them out: you as the parent decide what to serve and when to serve meals, and your child decides what foods from the selection to eat and how much. There is no force-feeding, deception, bribes, or trickery in the eating strategies she discusses. If you don't want your child to eat a particular food, you don't offer it. If the child decides not to eat much at a meal because he doesn't like the food, then he will be hungry and will make up the calories in the next meal. You don't have to give in to their favorite foods just to get your children to eat. This is marvelous news!
I haven't seen any other book on this topic that covers so much material, gets to the point so quickly, and is so easy to read. I think every new mom and a lot of frustrated moms would use this book again and again. It's a great gift for baby showers and also a good 1st birthday gift idea.

This book is a great resource for parents looking for guidance and information about feeding their young kids. It is full
of facts and helpful tips about all things kids and eating and is organized in a way that allowed me to return to sections
of particular interest, such as introducing solid foods and avoiding food battles, when needed. The subjects and ideas are
presented in a parent-friendly, easy-to-implement, non-judgmental way. The book has had a great positive impact on my family
meals and my kids eating habits!

like you're chatting with a girlfriend, not getting advice from an expert. Tamaro is an expert though, a trained LC whose
own expereinces in breastfeeding, combined with the stories of hundreds of nursing mothers combine in this satisfying read.

This book reflects on the journey of discovering vitamins through hardwork and curiosity. The best aspect of the writing
is how the author creates a story that can inspire future young doctors and scientists to pursue their interests. The book
was written by someone who knew their facts, but delivered in a way that is accessible and interesting to children. I know
several relatives in my family who would probably love to have books like these on their shelves in their children's rooms.
It's a great way to get children interested in medicine, but more importantly, learning about the power of their imagination.

Here is the commentary from the Writer's Digest:"A lively writing style that makes what could be a dry nonfiction topic into
a fast-moving, easily accessible, and easily understandable book, suitable for all ages. It makes history painless, is full
of fascinating facts (for instance, that vitamin C was not discovered until 1931, and not named until 1935). The book also
gives a nice overview of the amount of work that went into discovering how scurvy, beriberi, and pellagra were caused, and
cured. It also gives a nice look at how exciting it can be to be in the medical field, and make these types of discoveries.
The appealing, colorful illustrations lend a quirky sense of humor to the text while ably complementing it. The book's back
blurb is nicely done and gives feel for what the book will be about"

Although the ages listed and the children depicted in this title and Cool as a Cucumber, the companion volume, are quite young,
older children could definitely benefit from these little books. Teachers doing units on the five senses up to grade K or
1 will find them useful and informative. Some exotic fruits and the descriptive adjectives (juicy, tart, etc.) will also build
vocabulary. And, you will definitely have to follow up with a "tasting party" after reading these books. Delicious!

Great book! I purchased this book because I have a student who was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I wanted the class
to understand what their classmate was going through and to answer any questions they may have. I truly believe that educating
children on issue such as this will help enhance their lives as well as the child who is experiencing it first hand. Thanks
Kim, for a wonderful book for all ages!!

My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes three years ago. Every year since, I've asked her teachers to let her read
this book to the class at the beginning of the year. This is a great tool for the other children to understand what Diabetes
is, why my daughter gets special snacks at special times, but most importantly it lets them know that she is just like every
other kid. Having Diabetes is hard enough on children without the added stress it can cause at school. I encourage all parents
who are in my position to make this book a part of your school education efforts. It shouldn't replace the training materials
and meetings, but addresses the often overlooked element of how to help the child with Diabetes fit into the classroom.

Ok, you find squiggly worm-looking things in your baby's poop - oh my god what is IT? This was the only book to tell me that
it was from bananas and not some jungle-disease! Also, when my son's bottom was covered with clear jello-looking granules,
this book explained that it came from the diaper and not my boy! That is the power of this book - when you are freaking out,
it tells you whether it is normal or you should call the doctor - in a very concise way so you are not leafing through pages
and pages of verbage like you have to with Dr. Spock. A must for new parents!!!

I also wanted to buy it as a gift for someone. It has a pull-out CPR/FirstAid chart, in addition to everything else
