Dr. Lesser is head and shoulders above the rest of the medical crowd and this book is another manifestation of this fact. It can be a bit dry at times, but the message is huge and was powerfuly important to me: my sporadic chest tightness/pains were NOT the onset of cardiac trouble though my idiot local quack thought so and the cardio guy he sent me to practically told me I'd die of a heart attack if I DIDN'T get an angiogram in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. IDIOTS, well actually not idiots, if they don't induce a stroke and kill you then, then they will likely find a bit of plaque, enough to justify a stent and then WHAM you are in the system for life, baby, and you can pay, pay, pay.

My chest tightness/pains: it was emotional and sometimes delayed muscular after yoga -- well after, like the next day. Dang, the medical industrial complex lost a good customer, they coulda milked me for 30+ years. What dicks! Dr. Lesser gives the facts so you can help heal yourself.

I read this book in the public library this past week and I was fascinated by the knowledge that I learned. It is a wonderful book. I suggest that everyone read this book. It's well written and very informative.

Dr. Lesser is just a special kind of author! He's not just a doctor who can write. And he's not a writer who happens to be an M.D. He is a thoroughly competent writer, physician, and broadcaster.All libraries ought to consider themselves fortunate to be able to include Dr. Gershon Lesser's books GROWING YONGER and WHEN YOU HAVE CHEST PAIN in their collection. This is a must read for anyone who is health conscious.

The collaboration between the P.T. and the D.O. is a beautiful thing. This is a nice reference book for the new student to the learned practitioner on the thoracic spine etc. This part of the spine is generally greatly under evaulated and under treated. This user freindly text should aide in more effective treatment.

This book is an excellent introduction to the life and art of Frida Kahlo. It has many full color plates of her work and photographs of the artist as well. The text is an excellent abridgement of a colorful, complex life. I highly recommend this to all Frida fans both new and old.

If you saw the Selma Hayek movie on the life of Frida Kahlo and want to know a bit more, this is a wonderful introduction to her professional life. In fact, the movie and this book complement one another quite nicely, since the movie tended to focus on her personal life.

Andrea Kettenmann's book follows the life of Kahlo and does a great job of explaining the symbolism of Kahlo's work as it pertains to her personal life, her health setbacks and her political beliefs. There are 93 illustrations in this book - most of them are her paintings. She also includes a couple of photographs of Diego Rivera's works that included images of Kahlo.

This is a small book (less than 100 pages), but it packs a whole lot of punch and is very effective as an introduction to this fascinating artist.

Lo recomiendo encarecidamente para nuevos fans de Frida o los que ya lo han sido durante un tiempo y solo quieren un resumen sin especulaciones de su vida. Contiene información biográfica breve pero concisa, fotos antiguas en blanco y negro, ilustraciones a todo color y comentarios de sus pinturas. Es un gran y básico libro de referencia. Si solo va a comprar un libro de Frida Kahlo, elija este. No obstante después de leer este libro, lo dejará tan intrigado por la vida y arte de Frida, que querrá leer otros libros. Este libro es mi personal favorito.

After watching the Bio-Pic "Frida" (2002), Director: Julie Taymor, based on the book "Frida : A Biography of Frida Kahlo by Hayden Herrera, I decided it wad time to read more of this Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) who married Diego Rivera and was an artist in her own write.

This book, "Frida Kahlo 1907-1954: Pain and Passion" by Andrea Kettenmann, Is a great and informative introduction to Kahlo, her art and the person behind the art. Not to sound shallow but the color reproductions and the photos are worth the purchase price on their own. However knowing what they are trying to portray always ads that extra meaning.

No matter what book or movie you buy this is an added must to your library and a different look at the life and times of Freda.

"Frida Kahlo 1907-1954: Pain And Passion" travels through her life and turbulances through her many paintings she drew throughout her life. This book is more than just her paintings. The auther shares the story of the inspiration of her every paintings. She shares everything in great detail that is highly accurate to Kahlo's living. Every page shows how Kahlo has inspired a generation of artists ranging beyond painting. It's great that the author wrote this book since many are unaware of Kahlo's work. Her words keep Kahlo's art and her life alive. This book is great for those looking to get inspired and to learn about this genius painter. Those wanting more should also watch the movie "Frida", starring Selma Hayak as Frida Kahlo.

During our clinical practice in a teaching hospital in Istanbul, Turkey; I found the previous editions of this book very useful. I ordered my first book from [...] to receive the 2008 edition in January 2008. I have done a correct decision. This is an up-to-date, valuable practical book for Cardiac Anesthesiologist; as well as for residents who recently start to learn Cardiac Anesthesia. The tables provide excellent documentation for the use of different cardiac drugs and also some tables serve to differentiate different situations that has to be dealt in complex heart surgical operations. I would like to thank very much to the Editors for providing such a wonderful book to Anesthesia Society all over the world. Our goal is to translate it to Turkish in a short period of time.

Great book, easy format, concise information. I would reccomend it to everyone who may provide cardiac anesthesia.

Every anesthesiology resident should run, not walk, to purchase this book. It is concise, very readable, and can be used as the primary reference for the cardiac anesthesia rotations. To date I have yet to find a significant omission. Do your self a favor and buy this book!

A Practical Approach to Cardiac Anesthesia 3rd edition was a required text for me. However, I was delighted to discover its readability. Information is well organized and concise, yet packed w/ as much detail as you can take. I was greatful to not have to rake thru "fluff" in search of useful, comprehensible information. Good for any health professional interested in cardiac surgery and anesthesia.
