This was a very interesting book. The author did a good job of explaining the frustrating process of seeking a diagnosis and treatment of a rare condition. She includes a lot of useful information for those
who may have inherited this condition.

This is a great resource for the newly-diagnosed, and a well-written, gripping bio - but it is far more than that. ... What an moving reliance on the power of prayer! What an awesome testimony of faith! I loved the anecdote about the 'pennies from Heaven'!

A BIG 'thank you' to this author!I am confident that there are few people who will not profit by the information contained in this book. Especially in view of the so-called 'Pandemic which is looming over all of us, I feel that it is imperative for everyone to know how dangerous it is to be 'overloaded' with iron - which, to bacteria, fungi and viruses, is like 'fertilizer' to plants! This riveting, well-written, 'first-person' account alerts readers to the perils of iron accumulation in the body.

More than just about a disease!.
On another website, I saw this book described as the 'definitive book about Hemochromatosis', and I agree. However,a prominent researcher has written that it is the story of a remarkable man and an extraordinary relationship. He was right. - It's more than a layman's reference to genetic disorder. It's a consummate love story. Love at first sight...the enduring adoration of a teenager for a young man; which would lead her, in time, along an thorny path and against all odds, to a fight against ignorance of a disease. That fight has culminated in the saving of lives around the world.

I have never heard any of this information any where. This book is a must read. There is enough information here that makes a strong connection between calcium deposits, nanobacteria, and heart disease.

They do a great job in translating the terms for non medical people. Additionally, I would say that the relationship between the information presented and cancer represented about small percentage of the book, but the linkage is important and worth considering nevertheless.

I just finished reading an extraordinary book, The Calcium Bomb: The Nanobacteria Link to Heart Disease and Cancer. It also explains for the first time, the possible etiology and outline for a real treatment of my own ailment (which I know quite a bit about) ankloysing spondylitis. This is a work of excellent investigative scholarship and if its basic premise is true, namely that nanobacteria create calcium shells to protect themselves and can only be killed once they are unsheathed, then it may be one of the most important health books ever written. The relationship between nanobacteria and atherosclerosis and arteriosclerosis is portrayed convincingly.

Arterial Plaque can be removed
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2007-09-16
The book discusses how a newly discovered microorganism, nanobacteria, are responsible for the plaque that accumulates within our tissues as we age. Plaque buildup is what causes heart disease, and other circulatory issues. Beyond that it describes how the use of EDTA suppositories and the antibiotic tetracycline have been used remove plaque from arteries and restore health to many who would certainly die without this therapy.
There is some controversy in that nanobacteria are not currently scientifically accepted as being living organisms, and that they are not accepted as the cause of arterial plaque formation. The authors give compelling evidence that they are organisms and they do cause plaque formation. Beyond the scientific argument about nanobacteria, there is no debate that arterial plaque and calcification are major contributors to heart disease, and that EDTA chelation therapy can remove this plaque in many people. The book gives numerous examples of those who have been saved from this therapy, and it provides references to where this therapy can be obtained.
It does downplay the effectiveness of oral EDTA chelation, and it highly recommends the use of tetracycline. In that, it seems to favor a therapeutic regimen that is currently available through only one source, and at a premium price. I am trying to give useful information here rather than a simple review. I have researched this to quite an extent and believe that oral EDTA chelation is fairly effective, it is much easier to take, and it is a lot cheaper than the suppositories they recommend. Beyond that garlic and curcumin, are very safe and effective herbs that offer some anti-plaque benefits.
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is very thoroughly researched and referenced. Currently the web site www.calcify.com simply displays a message stating that the authors are working on an updated version of the book. I will certainly buy it as soon as it's available. I am disappointed that this book is already out of print and that currently it is selling for such a premium price. If you suffer from life threatening heart disease then by all means buy it, it will be worth every penny to you. If you have more of a scientific interest then you may wish to wait for the updated version or research EDTA chelation therapy on the web.
I would prefer that the future version of the book focus more on methods of removing plaque from the body and less on the scientific debate over nanobacteria.

Good book, but there are other factors involved in calcification.

This book is the natural complement to "Calcification: the Aging Factor," by Mark Mayer. While these books are on the same subject, they are both very different in content. The Calcium Bomb is about nanobacteria; while "Calcification: the Aging Factor" talks about other factors that can contribute to calcifications.

this is an excellent cookbook, everything i'd hoped for when i spotted it on amazon. i'm a vegan woman with low bone density so high-calcium vegan recipes are important for me. this cookbook is packed with high calcium recipes for main dishes, soups, sides, beverages, dips, and desserts. it also provides tips on adding calcium to everyday meals and solid, well-supported information on calcium and health. each recipe includes nutrition data so you can tell exactly how much calcium and other nutrients it contains.

i really wasn't expecting such a comprehensive resource on adding calcium to a vegan diet, or so many yummy recipes. to be honest, i thought this would be a slim cookbook with some tofu and kale recipes with no nutrition data. but i was wrong. this book is great.

I originally purchased this cookbook for a science fair report my daughter was doing which focused on the detrimental effects of dairy on the human body. We began making some of the recipes and were hooked! Our family rates new meals and each recipe we have tried (over a dozen thus far) has received high marks from all family members. I appreciate the fact that the tastes of the various meals varies considerably, but the recipes use many of the same produce items, which allows me to stretch my grocery budget. While the meals are tasty, they are time-consuming to prepare, but definitely well worth the effort. The recipes are easy to follow, with each page offering interesting calcium tidbits and meal enhancing ideas. I was disappointed that the dessert section recipes fairly consistently call for granulated sugar. The desserts look wonderful, but I'll have to experiment to substitute for the granulated sugar. The calcium table in the back of the book is a tremendous resource for finding high calcium foods; I've learned much! I'm planning to spend some time on line tonight, looking for more cookbooks by these authors!

CalciYum! has been a blessing in my kitchen. Not only are the recipes delicious and the instructions easy to follow, but I also know that my daily calcium needs are being met. The book has a wonderful resource table that lists the amount of calcium in each of the ingredients. This way, I can even boost the calcium in some of my own recipes. With a nutritional analysis for every recipe, an ingredient cooking guide, and tasty recipes, I recommend this book wholeheartedly to anyone.

I first noticed this book when one of the authors was on a cooking show. As a vegan, I was pleased to see that it offered recipes containing high levels of calcium WITHOUT dairy products. I find that many recipes in vegetarian cookbooks call for "weird" ingredients, but CalciYum offers recipes that even meat-eaters love! And the ingredients are easy to find! I made the Quiche and Peanut Butter Marbled Cheesecake recipes - and both were delicious! This book is really helpful because it also gives interesting facts about calcium, not to mention tables showing the calcium content for various vegetables, beans and soymilks. If you're a vegetarian or are lactose-intolerant, you will love this book and are sure to use it often!

I received this book as a gift and have been very impressed. This book has been a useful resource in adding more calcium to my diet with its helpful hints and calcium tables. The Carrot Broccoli Cilantro Salad is one of my favorite recipes ever. The Chunky Corn Chowder is also great.

I already loved the calcium-rich ingredients that this book relies on (dark leafy greens, tofu, almonds - to name a few) but the recipes are creative enough that they can hopefully win over those who do not.

Many of the recipes take quite a bit of time to prepare. That is the primary reason that I do not use this cookbook more often. However, if you plan ahead you can prepare some of the ingredients while others are cooking to save time.

I've sung the national anthem twice for Clippers games at the Staples center and I can't afford to get sick. Never Get Another Cold shows you what foods to eat to stay healthy and which foods to avoid that make you an easy target for a virus. The best part is, it works! If you want to never get another cold or case of the flu, get this book. You will not be disappointed.

I was feeling bad about myself because I was fat and had no energy. I started following the NEVER GET ANOTHER COLD Diet, and in six weeks I lost 15 pounds, enjoyed the food I was eating, never went hungry, haven't been sick, and at 72 I feel like I did when I was 50. Before starting this diet I was having recurring headaches. Now the headaches are gone! I've tried several other diets. This one is the simplest and most effective. This has become my new healthy lifestyle.

Vocal coach Thomas Appell has done it again!!! He has made a discovery that will help singers to maintain a long and healthy career. Thomas first discovery, which is described in detail in his first book Can You Sing A HIGH C Without Straining, is the physical truth of the actual function of the vocal cords for reaching high notes. This discovery is now the basis of teaching among many top voice coaches. His new discovery will not only benefit the singing community, but the whole world as well.

Answer this question: What is the one thing that would prevent a singer from performing? Let's put aside the obvious obstacles. Let's say that the singer is fully confident, knows the material, and has conquered stage fright. Do you give up??? It's the common cold. Thomas Appell has found a way to beat the common cold, and in his new book, he presents a foolproof diet (NGAC diet) for changing your life, and health permanently! He discusses in great detail ways to help beat cancer, diabetes, aids, and everyday colds and infections, such as strep throat and laryngitis.

If you suffer from allergies, severe colds, sinusitis, sore throats, or other ailments, I highly suggest purchasing Never Get Another Cold, and start living your new life now!!! (This diet is actually a lot easier to adapt into your life, than other diets that i have read about.)

Before reading this book I was a junk food junkie. I drank five cans of soft drinks every day and lived on candy bars and fast food. I had no idea these foods were making me sick and overweight. This book got me to see how easy it is to eat foods that keep you healthy, and how important it is to pass on the junk foods. It's an entertaining book to read and the illustrations are fabulous! I've lost a lot of weight, and I'm not getting sick. I'm a singer, and for me being able to know I'm protected against colds and the flu is worth it's weight in gold.

I felt pretty "down" after receiving a diagnosis of osteoporosis. After reading this book from cover to cover I realize all the things I should have been doing--and not doing. I liked the clear explanations about supplements, alkaline diet, and weight bearing exercise. I'm following the directions, and I'm full of hope. Also I'm ordering four more copies to give to my daughters and daughters-in-law. I want them to avoid that dreaded diagnosis.

I purchased this book because five doctors, one who was a Bone Specialist in a revered Boston hospital, first told me my osteoporosis was arthritis, and when I (not them) insisted on a bone scan, the diagnosis changed, and they told me, "learn to live with it. Look how old you are," followed by a kind smile, pat on the forearm, and perscription for Fosamax, which is a drug that should not be taken with your eyes closed. Your bone density will remain the same, but the drug always leads to more brittle bones and it blocks your body's ability to rebuild bone 100%. Within two and a half weeks, the drug gave me shocking side effects, and I was told, "that can't be from Fosamax," an answer that was condescending, cavalier, and WRONG. I was in my late fifties, unable to walk without painful limping, or remain upright more than four hours at a time. Desperate, I surfed the internet for information, and found many sources, including this miracle book. I discovered that my myriad symptoms were all bone related (headaches, gall stones, kidney stones, leg cramps, joint pain, bone pain, etc.) and not one of those doctors knew it, or at least did not acknowledge the condition. My diet was always healthy, but now it is mega bone healthy, which includes foods I never would have guessed (a tiny example: yams, watermelon - yes. Cheese - not necessarily.) That along with changing when I eat (suggested in the book) and accupuncture for bone pain, has restored my vitality, and allowed me to reclaim a productive future. Amen.

Dr. Susan Brown is an anthropologist who notes dietary and lifestyle differences in Western countries, which exhibit widespread osteoporosis, and Asian countries, where this disease and various problems (including menopausal discomforts) seem rare. She emphasizes that osteoporosis is not a normal aging process nor a strictly female malady. She explains that the building and breakdown of bone is a continual process intimately related to many body processes. She lucidly details the mechanisms of this "bone remodeling." She discusses risk factors for osteoporosis: heredity, body type, sedentary lifestyle, SAD (Standard American Diet), endocrine imbalances, and hormonal disturbances (abetted by tubal ligation, hysterectomy, ovarectomy). Brown notes early signs of trouble in small items like weak fingernails, irregular periods, excessive plaque formation, leg cramps at night, lower back pain. She advocates various modalities to reverse osteoporosis by whole body approaches involving maximizing nutrient intake, strenghtening the disgestive system, and developing an alkaline diet. She cites specific studies on progesterone (Dr. John Lee) and nutritional supplements (Dr. Guy Abraham) and exercise (Dr. Dalsky). This book is clear enough for the layman with ample references for the professional. The book gives you insight to what is happening inside your body and how you can take steps to stop or reverse osteoporosis. Dr. Brown's "whole body balance" approach will have you stepping out, enjoying veggies, and learning about soy and progesterone on the way to stronger bones.

I ordered this book to share with friends. I closely guard my personal copy, purchased by my oldest son for me, and autographed by Dr. Thompson.
You see, this rare and priceless doctor has completely changed my son's life. He came to him over weight, with high cholestrol, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes at age 43. It is now two years later and he has reversed all these problems by taking Dr. Thompson's suppliments and advice. I am studying and learning so much from this book and working to improve myself. I am amazed at the information.I only pray that so many of my dear friends who suffer from too much calcium and lack of minerals within their bodies, will heed this knowledge. Georgia Carole Douglas

Having had a chance to read an advance copy of "The Calcium Lie," I can say that the ideas contained in this book truly changed the way that I look at a number of important aspects of my health -- nutrition, vitamins, and the way I listen to the well-intentioned advice of "the medical establishment."

After reading "The Calcium Lie" it is very clear to me that when it comes to the amount of calcium in my body, "too much of a good thing" is NOT -- to paraphrase Mae West -- "wonderful." Dr. Robert Thompson and his co-author health writer Kathleen Barnes tell readers that calcium hardens concrete -- and that fact alone is enough to make me rethink my nutritional habits. This book has inspired me to ask my doctor some challenging questions the next time I see him -- and has also motivated me to add sea salt and more organic vegetables to my daily diet.

To anyone concerned about heart disease, obesity, and especially diabetes, I strongly urge you to read "The Calcium Lie."

Even though he died almost 2 decades ago, Graham Chapman's comic genious continues to awe and inspire in this wonderful volume of letters, essays and skits. Chapman was always the most Pythonic of the team, a wild man who was the re-incarnated spirit of Oscar Wilde. Both were touched with erratic brilliance and a lust for living and in this book we get to see the inner workings of Chapman's "wild(e)" side at work and at play. Not everyhting in here is hilarious, some things might raise only a smile, but taken as a whole this book is an amazing collection of items that fans of Python will want to treasure--and laugh at--for years to come. "Calcium" is a welcome addition to the Python legacy and a wonderful way to spend a few more minutes with
Chapman.

Of all the Pythons, Graham Chapman was the most anarchic in his comedy. He excelled at stream-of-consciousness humor and non sequitirs, and made a permanent mark on the comedy landscape with a stature rivaling anyone in the last fifty years. This book can be viewed as a companion to Graham's earlier work, "A Liar's Autobiography," as it contains a lot of material that didn't make it into that book, as well as many diverse pieces such as screenplays and correspondence, most of which appear here for the first time.

Graham was a complex person, and this book gives an outstanding view into the workings of his mind. His struggles are well detailed here, yet he always made the most of any situation, especially if wild parties with the likes of Keith Moon and Ringo Starr were involved. I was pleased that the bulk of this book dealt with Graham's life outside of Python, as that has been very well documented elsewhere.

The book itself has the feel of a mixed-media contemporary art piece as it is from so many diverse sources. I must admit that the title drew me in: it is taken from a piece on page 88 in the essays section. The essay does, in fact, make calcium much more interesting than in any chemistry class I have had, to wit: "Calcium...occurs naturally as the carbonate CaCO3 in limestone, chalk, marble, and in brothels...." Graham's medical training (he was a doctor, after all) comes through in other places as well, as on page 189 where he discusses disorders of the trachea and bronchial tree in a musical adaptation called "The Ciliary-Mucus-Escalator Dance." Of course, the weirdness doesn't stop with scientific and medical humor, but dwells in both the mundane (a pompous man who brags about his "fleet of atomic-powered Silko-Glyde lawn mowers - each with a sauna bath, a cocktail lounge with three adjoining cinemas, and a discotheque", page 235) and the surreal (an insurance salesman selling a man a "special Being Nibbled To Death by Okapia Policy," with correspondingly odd terms on page 245.)

My two favorite parts of the book are the monologues and the personal letters. My favorite monologue concerns riding down a black diamond ski slope in a "wretched wooden gondola" with the Dangerous Sports Club, a piece that opens and sets the tone for the book. (I recommend the DVD, "Looks Like a Brown Trouser Job" which recalls this among other strange occurrences.) The letters are all fairly deranged, but my favorites are the letter reproduced in the dedication, which is an apology to a pub owner ("Words alone will have to express my profoundly abject apology for my behavior in your pub last night. I will have the shelf repaired, and I have already bought a half pound fillet steak for Dennis's eye...") and the condensed letters of E.P. Snibbet, Esq., which conclude the book.

Graham was a genius and a loony, and I miss him. This is a brilliant book and is not to be missed by anyone fond of insane humor; I recommend it highly.

I have suffered from recurrent kidney stones most of my life. About a couple of years ago a friend gave me this book. After following the recommendations in this book, I have not had a kidney stone in nearly two years. My recent urinalysis has shown a significant drop in my calcium oxalate production; while my level of magnesium oxalate has increased substantially. Apparently, this is a sign that the regimen is actually working, as magnesium oxalate does not harden into painful stones like calcium does. If you or someone you know has been afflicted with kidney stones or any type of calcification, I highly recommend this book.

This is the best than a book can do in a world
full of bricks and walls for the young.
I am waiting for the 3D animations and the videogame.
In the mean time , use this series of 15 books with
a software program and learn the basics of
chemistry with real joy.
