This is THE best book on Caffeine.Review Date: 2007-08-06
I have been trying to give up caffeine, in the form of coffee and diet coke, for years but was unsuccessful. But I knew I had to do it after I read how caffeine was exhausting my adrenal glands and not allowing to have a restful night's sleep.
When I finally quit the withdrawal symptoms made me feel exhausted, depressed and had a foggy brain for the first few days but now I feel great.I wake up feeling refreshed without having to drink coffee. The money I'm saving alone by not purchasing coffee at "Fourbucks" daily is incentive enough.
I highly recommend this book. It is definitely worth reading if your looking to gain more insights into the effects of caffeine.
I give this book two thumbs up!Review Date: 2007-04-25

I had no idea that caffeine was soooo dangerous!Review Date: 2007-08-05
I started drinking coffee when I was in high school and at the time it was kind of like a rite of passage into adulthood. My parents didn't see anything wrong with it. Later on, the coffee, sodas, and candy I ate in college to perk me up added to a huge consumption of caffeine. No wonder I had trouble sleeping at night. For years, I couldn't fully "wake up" unless I had that first cup of coffee.
My cardiologist highly recommended your book. What an eye-opener! I learned that caffeine is a culprit behind a lot of illnesses such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and cancer, and also anxiety and depression. Until I read this book, I didn't know that when I buy products that are labeled "decaf" or "caffeine-free", they might still actually have some amount of caffeine in them. This book helped me to become a more cautious label-reader and more discriminating shopper.
This book also gave me helpful advice on cutting down and eliminating caffeine from my diet. Also, the tips on more healthy food sources and better nutritional choices were very helpful.

Required Reading for the Real WorldReview Date: 2001-11-20
Ross chronicles dot-com madness during the height of the vogue, no-profit frenzy. It was like the California Gold Rush of 1849 but with no location, no objective, no direction, no product, and no defined value - just big talk and empty promises. Nothing else I've read has captured it better. We always have to re-learn the lessons in this book. Why is it important? Well, I don't know about YOUR mutual funds and investments but mine went down the toilet this year. I'll be wiser next time.
This book is a therapy of laughter for those who have been there, eating bad food and listening to the mind-numbing drone of snake-oil salesmen. And it's a sobering warning for those who haven't. Wherever you are -- in the New Economy or Old Economy, a battle-scarred manager or fresh out of B School - this book is for you. With a catalog of anecdotes that will shrivel your privates, Ross shows what happens when you mix arrogance with buffoonery, brazenness with fear, and hysteria with money. He ties it all together with an easy-to-read analysis that is at times stunning in its insight. A great read and a great value that will leave you either laughing or crying, but never in doubt about the truth of the New Economy.

A must-read to understand the REAL new economyReview Date: 2001-11-06
Well, finally here 's a book that brings fresh, unbiased, and insightful perspectives. It is written by a global e-commerce manager from a fortune 500 company, who managed his company's e-initiatives and venture capital fund. Maybe because he is very hands-on with his job, this book does not preach complicated economic theories or strategies, rather it offers real world cases and examples that makes the book simple but powerful, and abover all, REAL. It is hence very easy and enjoyable to read.
The portrayal of corporate America in this book is precise and revealing. I wonder which company the author works for. It certainly reminds me of my internship in the east coast this summer.
This book is ideal for MBAs interested in careers in start-up, consulting, and corporate America.

Rare Combination: A Brew of Fun, Careful Research, Practical Health Tips, and Even Travel Ideas! Review Date: 2008-07-15
When I opened Beverly Rorem's new book, "Passion for Tea," I thought I would just take a tentative sip. But there I sat, drinking the entire book in, just like a delicious cup of tea. Much more than a simple overview of types of teas which is what I had expected, Bev has done her homework. Even though the book is a fun and easy read, it contains an amazing amount of scholarly research: history, international scope, specific medical and health references, and even travel suggestions in various countries including off the beaten track tea salons and tips on French waiters.
Having just visited an exhibition of Mary Cassatt's paintings, including the two that Bev references: "The Cup of Tea," and "Five O'Clock Tea," I know I will view these works with more understanding the next time I see them!
Being a tea drinker, I am familiar with a couple of the earlier books on tea, but none of them are as well written, researched, or have the scope of this new contribution to Tea Literature!
I've purchased a couple for friends and recommend you pick up a copy. Enjoy it with of course a cup of tea.

Definitely For ThoughtsReview Date: 2005-05-07
Within the pages of this book, we are given beautiful pictures nestled in the glow of pink color that portray the beginning of our expressions.
We are given the start of a sentence, such as, " I have no regrets about," It's okay to be selfish about," or "Little things that make me happy are," and we are encouraged by the page alone to fill the blank with our inward feelings.
It's always helpful to be able to write down our emotions, be free to express our heart, and in this well constructed book we are given the nudge that maybe needed to complete that task.
I enjoyed this and intend to put it to good use. Very nice work; simple, yet effective.

Very Beautiful BookReview Date: 2005-05-08
In Ms Lumer's work, "Wishful Thinking," we hold in our hand a beautiful constructed book with words and pictures that gently nudge us to be free to express our feelings. On each page we are given the beginning of a sentence such as, "I always daydream about," or "If I could do anything," and we look at the blank page that follows waiting for us to fill it with our hearts wishes.
This is a beautiful book, the sketched pictures that are merged into soft blue color
of the pages seem to bring peace and a longing to release your inward feelings.
"Wishful Thinking," is definitely a very tender way to keep a journal of ones desires and I believe any woman would truly love to have it.

At times, the burning sensation was so bad that I had trouble sleeping. It was especially difficult to handle during long commutes home from work; being hungry and tired led to carsickness and nausea, on top of the heartburn.
It was difficult to give up some of my favorite highly-caffeinated beverages and acidic things like tomatoes, but I knew if I didn't, I'd suffer for it later that day. After suffering with this condition for so many years, I didn't expect a miracle. Call me a skeptic.
My doctor suggested that removing caffeine, especially coffee, tea, and soft drinks from my diet might help the problem. He recommended this book to help provide me an insight about my caffeine dependency.
I had been a long-time coffee drinker, morning and afternoon, so I cut down on coffee slowly to avoid the nasty side effects such as headaches. Eventually I was able to virtually eliminate caffeine and acidic beverages from my diet.
Much to my surprise after switching from coffee to a coffee substitute recommended in this book, my problem is about 95% improved. I imagine in about several weeks I should not have any problems at all.
I found that not only did the heartburn clear up and my stomach settle down, but I was able to handle periods of hunger without overwhelming acidic, nauseated feelings.
I no longer use some of the medications I regularly took. I sleep better and my commutes are much more pleasant. In fact, I feel so good that I rarely miss my old beverages at all! For me, this book was simply priceless!
