The Call to Adoption by Jaymie Stuart Wolfe is an excellent, Christian resource for anyone who has adopted, is paperchasing
their adoption or is beginning to think about building a family through adoption. In easy to read chapters, which can be
read in or out of sequence, Wolfe describes her prayerful journey to adopt a daughter from Russia. Told with humor and compassion,
this mother of 8 children candidly discusses dossier preparation, referral run-arounds, sibling rivalry and post-adoption
adjustment. Wolfe ends each chapter with a prayer to help the reader focus on the role God plays in building families. When
the adoption paperchase becomes cumbersome and the referral waits interminable, Wolfe helps the reader find strength through
the Holy Spirit. If you are looking for a spiritual way to discern if adoption is right for you or if you are looking to
enrich your adoption journey with prayer, this is the book for you. I highly recommend it!

Go on a fantastic journey with the author into a world that wasn't ready to accept the change this family was about force
upon the Chinese government. A true real story of drive, hardship and determination to achieve a goal the rest of the world
said was impossible and then have it ripped from them one unexpected morning. Written by one of the strongest women I have
ever known, my mum. Why did our family go through this? Would we ever recover from this devastation?

This book is just too cute. My child loves the brightillustrations and the rhymes. The story teaches values that are muchneeded
in our world today. What more could you ask for: entertainment and good, solid morals. Kudos to Ms. Brown on a book well
developed!

"Carolyn's Story" is a wonderful children's book and excellent resource book for anyone who has considered or experienced
adoption. The book share's a young Honduran girl's very real world experiences, emotions and thoughts about being an integral
part of an adoptive family. This book certainly gives a high sense of hope for adoption demonstrating that a family can mean
many things and is not required to be "typical" to be great. The photos are sincere and very colorful.

This is a wonderful book, that is, as the etymology of the word says, full of wonder. It is told from the heart about one
family's process that is full of all kinds of twists and turns, yet is also about all of our stories. As an adoptive parent
of a wonderful daughter from China myself, I found the book remarkably warm, candid, and poignant. The pictures are great,
the writing superb; a wonderful combination of two people who (from the outside look as if they) obviously enjoyed the process
of working together.
This is a book for all those who already have or are thinking about adoption from any country. It is not the country of origin that matters in this book, but the wonderful story of the process and the resulting children who bless us and enrich our lives. I never write reviews for books for a number of reasons; this is the first exception to my policy. I could not think of a better reason to make an exception.

Lori Aqskeland edits Children And Youth In Adoption, Orphanages And Foster Care: A Historical Handbook And Guide an outstanding
and unusual survey providing the first comprehensive introductory resource on individuals and groups which have contributed
to ideas of what children need temporary care. Three sections of original essays survey the practice of adoption, foster care
and orphanages from colonial to modern times, using primary documents by adults and children alike to round out the historical
review. A `must' for any involved in children's social work, and for college-level specialty holdings.

I was adopted. My adopted parents (my mom and dad) began reading this to me as a toddler. It made me feel so special and
wanted. I would recommend reading this book to your adoptive child at a very early age. I will never forget this book and
still have the original copy! It is so meaningful and informative.

In Carangelo's Chosen Children, incarcerated adults who were adopted as children narrate their life histories of abuse, addiction
and crime. These transcriptions of interviews, phone calls, letters and media quotes provide an interesting collection
of primary source material for future research on "adopted child syndrome."
