Working with this tape and the three other shame tapes by Lazaris helped me heal the migrane headaches that I had suffered from since childhood. I cannot begin to descibe how debilitating these migranes were, nor how much freedom and hope I have now that I no longer get them.

I will be forever grateful to Lazaris for the guidance, the tools, and the immensity of love and healing he enabled me to receive through these tapes. I think that the shame tapes contain some of the most valuable information many of us could ever hear.

I can't say enough about the value of this book for every therapist who works with families with children! It offers many practical ways to intervene with children by use of play therapy techniques that any therapist, comfortable or not, experienced or not, can implement in therapy. What's more, it offers wonderful insight into the needs and experiences of children; it provides guidance in addressing numerous circumstances that may be presented in therapy,(such as divorce and stepfamily issues); and even taps into the minds of some of the greatest leaders in the field of family therapy. As if this were not enough, this gem of a book covers practical applications of play therapy through the lenses of a variety of theoretical orientations such as structural, experiential, and solution-focused. Case examples crystalize the applications of techniques and their outcomes. Expect to come away from reading this book feeling excited and competent in your next session with a family with children! This book is an outstanding resource for those interested in parent and child treatment, research, or program development. This book has been thoughtfully constructed to include important contextual informtion for understanding emerging pathways to community implementation of various models.

I found this book very interesting. Frances Carlson writes about how touch is essential to humans and offers research to back her ideas. She also offers practical suggestions to implementing positive touch.

When you think about how much inappropriate touch that occurs and how much abuse we see in society, it's so helpful to find someone writing about the POSITIVE aspects of touch.

She offers humor, insight and specific examples.

Although this book is geared towards teachers of young children - I believe this book would be useful to parents, physicians, policy makers and anyone who cares about children, families and healthy development.

I highly recommend you read this.

An EXCELLENT concise and a Comprehensive review- Easy to read. At the end of each covered chapter there is questions and answers with explanations.
It is a great resource for General practitioners as well as Child and adolescent psychiatrists.

The author presents an interesting method of scoring and interpeting the TAT. I learned a lot of from it and highly recommend it to anyone trying to use this method both in the clinical practice as well as for other purposes.
The scoring method proposed by Murray (in the TAT set) does not appeal to me in particular. I love the book, as it is not only well documented and researched but also very interesting to read. A must for all TAT (and other projective methods) enthusiasts.

This text is highly relevant to anyone involved with elder care in community settings. Care managers and home care givers will particularly benefit from the comprehensive discussions of topics such as paid family caregivers, prejudice in home care, multigenerational households, the ethical importance of home care and organizational ethics. As a researcher interested in quality of life in the elderly and as a facilitator of ethics consultations in a care management organization, I found the content highly relevant to everyday practice. It is an invaluable reference.

I'm currently working on a school-based suicide intervention program in pursuing my PhD degree in Mexico. Eventhough the book covers most areas of interest in youth suicide there are only two chapters (the last two) dedicated to discussing possible empirical guidelines for treating suicide attempters. Naturally, it IS precisely treatment and outcome research with these adolescents that falls behind with what we currently know about teen suicide. Nevertheless, among the significant contributions of the book (profiling youth at-risk and reviewing proximal and distal riks factors for suicide behavior) are the references of scientific journal articles which I'm sure will be of great use to practitioners and grad students in the clinical psychology field. Finally, the case study vignettes offer rich insight on this complex phenomena within a psychosocial perspective.
