First, I'm happy to be see the book on Amazon.com. I think that Dr. Lao intended this book as a comprehensive, systematic, and academic introduction to Wrist-Ankle Acupuncture, a specialized technique utilizing 12 acupoints that was developed 30 years ago. This technique is readily to be incorporated into your practice as well. The book provides a general introduction and symptom/sign location, selection of points, and needling techniques. Clinical applications are presented by category, and include a wide range of pain conditions as well as internal, psychological, neurological, dermatological, gynecological, and EENT disorders. A brief section at the end of the text presents possible theories and correlation relative to TCM and modern science.

Essential for body awareness

Review Date: 2009-01-06
I have been giving this book as a gift, together with "Back Care Basics," since I discoverd its value in taking care of my body. I learned that many of the exercises I have used in the past, even those recommended by physical therapists, were actually doing damage to my muscles. Through the knowledge I acquired in this book, I am more able to help myself. I have severe back problems (scoliosis) and have been able to identify the muscles involved in my "out of balance" condition. I am 65 years old and do not expect a cure for my damaged spine; I believe, though, that if I had this information 20 years ago, much of that damage could have been prevented. Even now, physicians are amazed that I am not in a wheelchair. I have also been able to alleviate the discomfort in many other stressed muscles throughout my body.

I like short to the point books. I bought this with the use of a body back buddy. I don't know if I will be able to read every page, but there is a lot of good info in this book. To me some of it is obvious, but then again a lot of it is new info. I think it was worth the money. And glad I got it.

Buy it, it's worth every penny. Changed my life.

I suffered from severe, sometimes debilitating upper back, neck, and head pain for over 15 years from abuse I suffered from sports and weight training. I followed the clear instructions in this book to find trigger points and get rid of them, and now I am pain free. No doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist, or physical therapist could help, but this $14 book helped me cure myself. I've sent 3 more copies to family and friends who also have found success using this simple, well documented, well written, and excellently illustrated book. For less then the price of one doctor's copay, you may be pain free.

Amazing. I was very surprised.

I don't write many reviews unless a book is either exceptional or terrible. Looking at the reviews of this book, I think you get the picture. Even so, I felt compelled to write a review.

Brief background, I've had chronic shoulder/upper neck pain since 1999. This has damaged my ability to stay in shape and has been an overall bummer. The pain has varied between minor to extreme that forced bed rest. No matter the case, its always been there. I've had surgery, chiropractic, you name it. The relief was only temporary at best.

Stumbled on this book once I decided that much of modern medicine still seems to be side stepped by the bodies most common and simple problems. So I decided to take matters into my hands and did lots of research. Many paths led me to this book.

In summary- I was shocked. After reading for 1 hour, applying the learnings, my pain is already reduced by about 50%. This was in the first couple of days.

It works, try it.

Excellent advice on pain relief for neck, back and shoulder pain relief. This book is written in a plain understanding style and gives self help remedies for pain relief. You are shown the reasons why pain radiates from from damaged areas and how to manipulate and massage pain trigger points for relief. This book tells you what your doctor knows but does not tell you because it takes too long to describe whats happening to you.

I go to an accupunturist but I really wanted to learn how to manage my health issues between appointments (it's not cheap) and this book was perfect for it. I also use it for my husband and our 3 year old. If they are having a specific complaint, we look up the points and the easy to follow information helps us treat ourselves. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to heal themselves or simply feel better on a daily basis.

My acupuncture M.D. recommended this book to me. I first borrowed it from the library & it proved so good, I bought my own copy. We've used it as a household remedy for charley horse spasms, headaches, insomnia, allergic reactions & more. My husband gets charley horse spasms in his thigh & finds it difficult to get relief. The acupressure points recommended in the book for spasms cleared his pain within 60 seconds. For that alone, it's priceless in his eyes. I found that holding the recommended points when I am experiencing mild allergic reactions at least lessens the reaction if not clears it up entirely. Ditto for mild headaches. It's been extremely helpful & well worth the purchase price.

Best of them all.

This is a totally clear, easy to read, fact supported guide which addresses just about every need we humans could ever have.... things I'd never considered with respect to acupressure therapy. I'm looking for relief from Fibromyalgia, and found it here. The book has been passed around to every family member. Everyone agrees, it's complete. The author even adds warnings about interactions, information about what NOT to do, demonstrating his comprehensive knowledge of the subject. The book truly guides you through every step, giving you valuable facts as well as confidence to go further. The results have spoken for themselves. An excellent investment!

I am a student at the Oregon School of Massage and in my class on lower massage my instructor shared with us a book that she has on pressure points you can use for colds, headaches, immune system, memory, concentration and a variety of things. I was taken in by the ease in which you could use this book to help in any aliment you may have. You can do it any where. It is put together very well and the pictures and illustration help a great deal with where the points are on the body. It is written well and you don't have to have a degree to read it or to use it. I love it.

I was so excited after reading this book that I am seeking out a workshop in my area. It is very appropriate for those seeking more in their practice of manual manipulation of soft tissue and joints. This will be a quatum leap in my practice for sure!

If you are interested in developing and utilizing your innate healing abilities, then Quantum Touch by Richard Gordon is for you. This book is well written and very easy to follow. The techniques described in this book emphasizes on the importance of proper breathing and the principle of entrainment. According to this principle, if two items are vibrating side by side at different frequencies, then the lower frequency item which in this case is the patient will be adjusted itself to the higher healing frequency of the healer. Quantum Touch healing techniques are very simple yet powerful!Naked Spirit: The Supernatural Odyssey

It works and what's great about it that anyone can learn this art of light touch healing. You can even learn how to energize your food & drinks and taste the difference and feel your immune system strengthens from eating energized foods. This is the innate power within all of us, one does not even need to believe it, you just have to feel it to know it's true.

Although the information in this book is enlightening for the general populace. Healing from "source" is not something one should do. It is something that one allows to flow through our beings as we facilitate healing for others. This modality has far too much technique for my liking. The more we DO...the less we have the ability to allow the flow of source. Source is not a game of intellect and technique it is a powerful flow of energy that moves through ever one of us. So I would lean the reader to The Connection by Dr. Eric Pearl.

This book did not contain information or techniques that were new or helpful to me. I appreciate Gordon sharing his personal healing experiences, and the brief description of how he developed his method of laying on hands, but the book has painfully little specific information. his writing seems confused and simplistic at times, and most of the book focuses on techniques other than his own. if you are completely new to the concept of energy healing, this might be a decent place to start.

i found that barbara brennan's "hands of light", vianna stibal's work on theta healing, donna eden's work to be infinitely more specific and helpful. these are authors who can actually see energy fields and auras, and therefore have much more informed and specific techniques to teach.

gordon's basic assertion that raising one's vibrations to tune the client (who he confusingly names "healer"), is step 1 of many energy healing modalities. this is not something that you need to read a book about to learn. it is embedded in any healing teaching, and intuitive to many natural healers.

I have found this book to be extremly helpful. Although, if taken word for word could be a bit extreme, the basic ideas are very sound. I have tried several of the recipes and they are quite good. Eliminating dairy, white flour and sugar has not only lessened joint pain, but has also helped reduce sinus inflammation. I was a vegetarian and am now a vegan. It has been easier to eliminate the cheese, yogart, eggs, et., than I thought, especially when the results is feeling better. Interested in long-term benefits/effects.

This book is just what I was looking for- a guide to managing my Lupus-like disease naturally. I only started the diet 2 days ago, so I cannot yet vouch for its efficacy, but a vegan diet is mentioned in numerous places elsewhere in terms of its benefit to those with autoimmunity. Ms. Harrington lays out a plan and justification, offering information as well as support. It can be overwhelming and confusing to look at all the health information out there on managing these illnesses, but this plan is where I choose to start.

Jill's book was outstanding and very helpful. I bought 4 copies to give to other relatives who are caretaking and preparing food for my 4th grader who has a Lupus diagnosis. It was such an easy-read that he read and understood Jill's book as well and is now active in his own caretaking! I highly recommend this book to everyone who has or knows of someone with a Lupus diagnosis. It's a godsend.

Nothing will prepare you to pass the boards if you did not study HARD in class and do ALL your reading...but this guide is just plain excellent. Many guides cover the same material, but the clarity of the writing and the lack of factual errors made this guide the only one (of the three I bought to prep with) that I used. Glory to God! I got this to use the online tests to practice, but there were only 3 so that didn't help much. It also didn't explain why the ones I got wrong were wrong. I liked the Mosby computer practice tests better because they explained why the answer was wrong. This book was good for review though, I didn't study much but the questions were similar to the content and format of the Federation test. I didn't take the national, but I assume and have heard that the Mosby book & questions are more similar to the national test. I wish I had just borrowed a copy instead of spending money on it.

Not Enough Practical Information

"Major depression is one of the most common and deadly of the mental illnesses, afflicting millions of Americans each year; one of every six people can expect to suffer major depression at some point during their lifetime." ~ pg. 108

"The Omega-E Connection" is an important book about omega-3 fatty acids, however it doesn't present enough information about how to take omega-3 fatty acid pills or at least, how much to take for various disorders. This book just presents an important study, which shows an amelioration of symptoms in bipolar patients. In the study participants where given 9.6 grams per day but it was a very high quality oil specially made for the study.

"Most fish oil supplements found in health food stores and pharmacies contain only 30 percent omega-3 fatty acids, usually with a ratio of EPA to DHA no greater than two to one. This means that it would take thirty 1,000-milligram capsules per day to match what we used in our bipolar study." ~ pg. 212

Even if there is not a lot of practical information in this book it does contain some convincing arguments for the use of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation.

Some of the ideas are best discussed with your doctor. For instance mother's are encouraged to squeeze a capsule of omega-3 fatty acids into infant formula because unlike breast milk, it is somewhat lacking. How much to use and how often is the real question - this is not discussed. The information on taking supplements during pregnancy and until the baby is weaned is convincing. This supplement could help with postpartum depression.

If you are concerned about heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, schizophrenia, ADHD, bipolar disorder or brain health in general then this is a good book to read early rather than later. Taking a supplement may also prevent you from having to deal with diabetes.

Of course you will want to talk to your doctor about how much to take, especially if you are already taking other medications for any disorder. If you are bipolar then there is some useful information about St. John's Wort and SAMe and why you should avoid these two natural remedies because they can make your symptoms worse. They are apparently still OK for minor depression.

The book ends with a few recipes. Most contain either fish or flaxseeds (which you can grind in a coffee grinder).

If you want to know more about which omega-3 fatty acids to take this book recommends "omegabrite dot com" as a good source. The author's wife had a part in the formulation of this supplement. I am currently taking: Nature's Way EPA 18/12 1,000 mg Fish Oil (100 softgels which are PCB and Mercury Free).

This is a book that can be life changing. It's extremely solid, clearly written, for the lay person, and fully documented, and it concerns Dr. Stoll's claims as to the benefits of taking Omega-3 oil supplements. It was recommended to me by a Nurse Practitioner at the Hospital Clinic where I go for regular medical care, and it has caused a revolution in my life. We live in a wilderness of self help and health care books that can confuse us and numb us with their contradictory claims. But be assured this book is a thorough and brilliant record of the results of actual medical research. Dr. Stoll's work with Omega-3 was done at Harvard, and he knows whereof he speaks. He is not the only one recommending that we take Omega-3 supplements to make up for the deficiencies in our "modern" diet. Indeed many many doctors are now talking about this, and word can not spread too fast. Read this book. And take it from this reader: there is indeed a profound" Omega-3 connection, " and it's vital that we avail ourselves of this substance for better health.

I bought this book after hearning Dr Lambrou interviewed on Dr. Carol Look's radio program. I love Dr Lambrou's term EMS for Emotional Management system. This puts the energy tapping technique in terms a tool we can always use to manage our emotions as opposed to a one time quick fix.
As an EFT practitioner and success coach, I use the same technique for dramatic change, but often remind my clients that this is a tool they can use quickly and easily to manage lifes stressors, big and small.
I love the incorporation of Dr Candace Pert and Valerie Hunts work as well. All and all this book covers an amazing amount of ground in understanding emotions, emotional states and practically applying energy techniques. BRAVO!

Hello. I found this book in the bargain section about 10 years ago and I bought it just out of curiosity. I have suffered from stress anxiety most of my life so I figured that if it even helped a little bit it would be worth the price. I was amazed at the results! It really helped me destress. I used the techniques when I was pregnant a lot because I couldn't take any medicines or herbs to help me relax. It worked every time. I suggest trying it a little bit every day although I am not much good at the every day thing myself. It gets a firm 10 stars from me.
