Review Date: 2000-06-14
This module follows closely on from: From the Shadows adveture. In the module From the Shadows, the Grand Conjunction was brought about, and the lands of Ravenloft returned to their original prime material planes! But, in Roots of Evil, the PCs have the chance to undo the Grand Conjunction, saving many realms from the terror of Ravenloft and at the same time avoid the clutches of both Azalin the Lich and Count Strahd Van Zarovich the great Vampire.

Doug Niles, one of the original members of the Dragonlance team, has written an adventure dealing with the Chaos war. I enjoyed just reading this adventure. Optional rules for SAGA players.

The Module is one major butt kicker, and I LOVE IT!
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1998-11-19
As someone who helped playtest this module I just have to say it really adds something back to the Ravenloft setting that some of the recent modules have been lacking. DMs looking for an excellent challenge for mid to high level parties need to get this adventure and do mean things to good people!

Great Book, interesting concepts.
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 1999-10-22
I actually picked this up from an auction on ebay, though I thought it great enough to put my comments up on here.

First thing first. This book is packed with information on bringing Shaman characters into the game with not one, not two, but three different shaman classes. Each has a separate spell list though the other shaman's can gain those spells as though they were one level higher than if they were that specific shaman. Itis 96 pages that fits in a Players and DMs section, as well as a mini Monstrous compendium for Spirits (which take up about the last fifth of the book. Needless to say, this is definately well worth getting, especially if you want to take your campaign in previously unexplored territory.

Having four shelves of beading books, I didn't need another, but I gave in a bought this anyway. I was sure I would be disappointed as the best items are always shown on the front cover - but not in this case. Delightful unique ideas, beautifully presented, both in the finished products and the step-by-step instructions to achieve them. This is one very imaginative woman.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of Mr. Ronkko's work, and I'm quite glad that I did! This is one of the rarer percussion works in that you get to know the author as you read - his writing style is quite approachable, witty, and relaxed. As an educational tool, percussionist's that wish to take on the challenge (or enhance their current skills!) of singing while drumming - an art unto itself as any practitioner is well aware - will reap tremendous benefit from this musician's lessons learned, skills, and thoughts. Awesome!

A wonderful book for any quilter!
Helpful Votes: 43 out of 43 total.
Review Date: 1999-01-15
Those who are familiar with Jinny's books know how well-written and clear her instructions are. This book is no exception. Jinny's pioneering foray into a new technique is presented in a beautifully illustrated, easy-to-understand book that any quilter would love to own. Along with many photos of stunning quilts showcasing the soft-edge piecing technique, Jinny takes you step-by-step through the process. I was never a fan of applique until I purchased this title and fell in love with the effects of soft-edge piecing. I was also fortunate enough to take the class taught by Jinny herself on this technique, and I can personally vouch for the fact that reading this book is like having Jinny giving you a private lesson, in your own home, at your own pace. I highly recommend this book to any quilter, applique fan or not!

A save a plane adventure
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 1999-06-22
Suitable for somewhat low level characters yet they have a chance to help save a plane from destruction. This in itself is a definite plus point. If your party consists of hack and slashers and they are not powered up with magic items or levels, my guess is that they will croak fast. If your party can think and plan, they should survive this adventure with minimum *miracles* on the DM's part. It also involves Malar, a FR power, so it might be useful to FR DMs.
