excellent source for do-it-yourself decorating
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2000-12-07
This book has it all for the do-it-yourself with fabric home decorator. Everything from oven mitts, curtain pullbacks, pillows, sofa and chair covers, throws, a tea cozy, lampshades, shelf borders and soft sculpture. The book is organized into rooms - bedrooms, living rooms, nurseries etc. Each room is an opportunity for the author to present a color scheme. Of course the color scheme are interchangeable, and can be changed to suit your own home, but it is an interesting way to organize the book and the ideas into a very useful form. Now many of these projects are not for the 20 minute make-over. A few of the ideas, such as the Hungarian Applique Throw, are more for an entire winter of evenings sewing in front of the fire. Many of the projects are not only time consuming but difficult. But with common sense and patience, I think that all of the projects could be completed successfully with a minimum of sewing experience. There is a helpful chapter in the beginning of the book that describes helpful hints to get started and to achieve the best possible results. This book is a long-term gem. I will probably be picking out projects from here again and again, for years to come. Highly recommended.

It gave me a whole new perspective of lace doilies and ribbo

When I opened this book and started looking at the incredible ideas of how to use a lace doily, or a table runner or a tablecloth and transform them into something beautiful and unique, it completely changed my mind of the way I used to buy lace and ribbons. There are many projects from the easiest to the more complicated but still doables.

The finest chapter in one of the best Greyhawk trilogies, this adventure begins with a deceptively simple mission - find the lair of the lizard men who are gathering weapons to attack Saltmarsh, and obliterate them! But, as the PCs should have learned from U1, nothing is even nearly that simple... the lizard men are actually peaceful and intelligent, and are desperately gathering their strength to stave off the imminent Sahuagin onslaught that will soon obliterate them, and the Saltmarshers as well... if they PCs (levels 1-4) can't learn the truth in this perfectly-scripted, dramatic espionage adventure, their brief careers as heroes will end... a classic of Greyhawk, highest recommendation.

Quest spells, Tome of magic, Player's Handbook. Those books are needed, yes, but all the Priest spells from them are listed in ONE DECK! I've used these on many occasions. It saves lots of time, especially for an impatient DM. Well worth the investment.

Early Edition of a Super Thriller!
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2004-07-07
Take two women, a mother and step-daughter, who are just about the same age. Put them on a sailboat they can barely sail. Stick them in the Caribbean. Hide a fortune's worth of smuggled diamonds aboard. Have them running from ruthless Russian smugglers and you have the plot of "Diamond Sky" a terrific woman in trouble thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat as you rush through the story, eager as all get out to get to the end.

Beth Shannon is grief stricken when her husband dies of a heart attack in Trinidad, but when she and her step-daughter Noelle take the body back to California, they are met by detective Billy Wolfe, who has more bad news for them. Noelle's mother, uncle and aunt have also been murdered and the detective wants to question them.

It seems Noelle's father and uncle had been involved in diamond smuggling with the Russian Mafia and had decided to skim a little off the top. Bad idea. The Russians killed them.

The woman go back to Trinidad and when the Russians try to use legal means to get the boat Beth had been living on with her husband, they sail out of the country under cover of darkness with the Russians hot on their trail. And detective Wolfe is on the their trail too. And they don't really know how to handle the boat. Are they in trouble or what?

You'll just have to read this delicious and thrilling story to find out who catches up to the women first. But don't worry, you'll have a super time as you read though this fast-paced story.

A note here: This is the early version of DIAMOND SKY. It has the very rare Blue Ocean Cover and not the Green Cover of the final released version, plus there have been a few editing changes in the current version, but don't worry, if you find this book, I just know you'll love it and plus you may be getting a hold of a collector's item!

Investigation into 500 year old mysteries
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 1999-07-01
Every 500 years 4 doors appear. They lead to unknown locations. Now a new monster that seeks to rule large areas will appear soon.

They key to stopping him lies in these doors.

Very interesting stuff. It might also serve to show that many things live very different lives in the planes. A new type of race is included.

It can also help form future adventures as many will want to know the secret of the 500 year old door appearence cycle and the only ones who have it are the party members.
